This is the best HBO show of all time IMO. It’s easily the most consistent, well cast and written. There are no weak characters. I love the Wire and Sopranos but those shows had sub par episodes and story arcs.
Chris is right, Roman played at being COO. A lot of fans pump up the Roman has experience thing. Not saying he is a moron, he has a feel for how the top people behave, and making some deals, but not truly nuts and bolts knowledge. Never in the grind. Kendall has real business experience, Shiv has public relations, political, and media experience. In reality though, just experience within an industry or company is not as important as being on executive or CEO track. People are identified and groomed for those top c suite positions.

s2 was not out of character for kendall. he was trying to process what happened at the wedding, he was depressed, and felt like his only purpose in life was to be there for his father. throughout s2 he slowly realizes that his dad doesn't even care about what he did at the wedding, and was just using it to manipulate kendall. which was the nail in the coffin because its been weighing heavily on kendall all season. he finally decides to make a move and s3 he is manic yes, ken gets like that too. jeremy strong described it as, "a manic need to stay above the pain." he's lonely, still feels guilty and is still depressed it just comes out in a different way. they're both kendall, and jeremy strong did such a great job at portraying it.

this season 3 stretch with Kendall is the only thing in the entire show that i don’t love, i just didn’t buy him doing a complete 180 from dead inside/cold blooded killer to a complete buffoon in the span of a few minutes between the S2 finale and the S3 premiere
like at least give him one full episode to revert back to his manic ways but this was way too quick
