    I have one of these coming 'cept I'm putting it on a trailer. Hopefully I can make adjustments to keep all the controls within reach. BTW I admire the effort you're putting into the mill, just hope for you your back holds up! :)

      That is exciting to hear Ron, I think you will enjoy it. And I appreciate the comment about the effort, as my back gets more sore, I am getting better with mechanical advantage!

    Looks like you’re going great. I had to sell my LM 2000 when I moved to a property that didn’t permit it. I subscribed so I can remember the fun of Sawmilling thru you. 😆
    Keep it up!

      @johnsobj where did you move to that you couldn't have a sawmill? Was it like a HOA or a government wouldn't permit it?

    Considering getting a sawmill; just saw the Hudson Warrior. I’ve been looking for about a year. My big holdup has been actual cost vs the advertised cost. Can I ask what upgrades you purchased and your actual purchase cost in total?

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The advertised cost is the price you pay for the Hudson mill. They charge a flat shipping rate of $650 anywhere in the United States. you will need to get a box of blades because you will go through them when you hit nails rocks, and other things that are in trees. They can be re-sharpened at woodmizer in Oregon. The advantage of the Warrior that it has a 31 inch throat opening which is good for doing slabs. Many other companies advertise 36 inch mills, but the guides do not open nearly that far. One thing that many people underestimate is a plan to get the logs onto the mill. I have a special trailer, other people that have large tractors are able to move big logs, but you’re not gonna move a 31” log with a small tractor.

    Great video bud I'm seriously considering that saw. I'm concerned about ware the motor comes from. What is your advice?

    • @approsetn
      @approsetn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a 23hp Briggs Vangard

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new motor is a Briggs. The original one the saw was designed with is the one I have. I don’t know where mine is from.

    it looks like the mill shakes a little when you're cutting? Does it feel solid? have you noticed any cut quality issues because of the shake?

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It moves a little bit, it does not affect the cut quality. I do feel like this is a solid saw.

    I see your coolant line dragging on the log. Isn't there a way to fix that? Before it gets ripped off?

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It never gets “ripped off.” If it catches on the bark and becomes unplugged, you just plug it back in.

    When your saw is all the way down on the frame (resting on the bolts) how high is your blade from the frame? I just finished putting mine together, and when I followed the instructions, my blade was going to hit on the dog that is welded on the track. I am plumb and level. I guess I got confused with all the different measurements. At first it said 1" off. Then 3" off, then something about 1.5".

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adjust your bottom stopper bolts to 1.5 inches in length. Then your blade should measure 1 inch above your horizontal crossmember supports. You might have to play with the stopper bolts a little bit to get that 1 inch reading.

      @@BigNicky77 thanks man. Got my saw going! Do you buy Hudson blades or will any 162x1.25 work?

    Where do you sell your slabs? I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I own 40 acres of forest in Northwest Arkansas.

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly sell them on FB marketplace or Craigslist. I also trade slabs for steel

  • @mv.m5438
    @mv.m5438 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How thick do you cut your slabs?

    • @BigNicky77
      @BigNicky77  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All of the slabs in this video were 3 inch. I now cut large table length pieces that I plan to join together at 2.5 inches so I can joint them with my track saw. I still cut coffee table pieces at 3" because I think that looks the best.

      They like it better than the 660 chainsaw mill!! In all seriousness, the engine is only slightly louder than a lawn mover. I only mill 1 to 2 days a week, approximately 4 hours a session so it is not that bad.

      Nick Klaich I was trying to do the same in my neighbourhood. Just wondering how it went for you. Thanks.
