    Really great stuff! Your video just saved me. One question though: What about crush washers? Should they go on there?

      Hey Max,
      Did you buy a complete kit to service your forks? I’m not sure if you saw in the video, but there are the correct washers on the bottom bolts. What’s happening for you?
      Thank you for watching and let me know your thoughts.
      Best,
      Nate

      @@watchnato Yeah I got a complete kit but I don't think there was any extra bolts. What got me confused was the mentions of adding new crush washers in the service manual but I couldn't see any old ones to replace. That was until I realised that one was squeezed thin as a gasket an the other one was well hidden in a grove, just as in the video. It took some blood, sweat & tears to get the old ones out but now the new ones are in place.

      Hey Daniele,
      I apologize for the late reply. Here is a picture of the 2014 - 2017 recommended service page. Please take a look at it, and then let me know if you need some help.
      Best,
      Nate

      Well, I am unable to attach files to replies, but I have the service manual linked in the video description, so please go check that out; it should be on page 8 or close by.
      Thanks again for watching!

    Thanks for the video. How do you find what year your fork is so you know how much oil goes in each side?

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey RC,
      On the back of the fork, near the crown, there is supposed to be a serial number. The most sure way is to call the manufacturer and give them the serial number. They should be able to give you the model year.

    can i use 5w fork oil for the lowers?

  • @reindeerss
    @reindeerss 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pike manual specifically mentions to put 15ml of oil on the non-drive side and 5ml on the drive side of the lowers. Am I missing something here?

      Hey Edmund,
      This is simply a case of SRAM changing their manuals. Here are two links showing you a 2014 service manual and a 2014 - Present service manual. The 2014 manual recommended 15 ml in the non-drive side, and 5 ml in the drive side. The 2014 - Present manual now recommends 10 ml in each side. I made this video in 2014, so it's outdated, and I should probably clarify that in the video.

      I hope this is helpful.

    Is there no crown race on that fork?

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Walter,
      You are correct, but are you assuming it went back on the bike without one?

    I hate to fact check you but I don’t want your video to mislead others.
    You added 10ml to each lower but SRAM recommends 15ml to non-drive side and 5ml to drive side. 0w-30 fork oil.

      Hey David,
      I appreciate the feedback; however, in 2015 (fork year) they recommended 10 ml per side. I am more than happy to show you the documentation. I also know SRAM has since changed the oil amount to 15 and 5.
      Best,
      Nate
