Yes, it's a gay movie, yes gay people are represented as monsters here, yes, we are told that is ok to be gay, yes, we do know, so what? What is the problem?
This is objectively the worst pixar movie of the bunch set in different cultures. The visuals are great, it really gives the feeling of a small Italian town in the 1960s but they really went too heavy with stereotypes (eating "pasta al pesto" for dinner (we don't do that) even though the guy was cooking fish) and they throw random Italian words every other sentence with actors who have no idea of what those words mean (it can be heard in the accent, and the fact that they got plurals and singulars and gender wrong), something they do also in other movies but in this one they really exaggerated. Then of course the gesticulations are all wrong and used stereotypically in the absolutely wrong situations. The writing is also not great, I mean the story is fine but the whole thing with Alberto's father is pulled out of nowhere for no real reason and has no real implication for the rest of the movie.
