Also remember Leena spent hella time reading the journal of the original Lady who killed herself to be with her husband. So that lady obviously inspired some sort of Leena and maybe in the journals gave insight as to find which realities are which when you jump over.
Yeah I was thinking something very similar as you, but also that maybe in that parallel Universe at the end Leena was the evil one .. just like Noel was The evil one in our universe. it’s quite possible that each of the parallel universes had one evil version of the four of them.

@@Q.T-T it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen the film, but if I remember correctly the two Noels were working together so the alt would naturally have to be aware of the real Noels current reality with Leena. I think the other giveaway that it was the real Noel was how quickly he was ready to kill the alt version, because it follows his pattern of killing most people throughout the film before replacing them with alts. My knowledge is slightly fussy because it’s been a while as I’ve mentioned, so I could be wrong but I think that’s correct.
Great movie. What really creeped me out was when alternate reality Josh yelled that he remembered a different ending to a children's book. It was reminiscent of the Mandela Effect. Maybe the Mandela Effect is butterfly effects of people traveling through dimensions.
Too your idea , no Mandela effect has be demonstrated to be unreliable and most of them have easy explanations, a decent amount have been just straight up false but very possible if one found a way to travel too alternate universes, if its completely randomized they could end up in reality with totally different laws of physics maybe the mirror only travels too universes you can survive in
Man!!! my thoughts exactly!! I immediately thought about the Bernstein bears and parts of movies that changed... This film really made me think about what it is that has been happening not only as far as the Mandela Effect but with things like deja vu as well.
My guess is that it always takes them to the universe most like their current one. Every time they take an action, the universe they travel to is the most similar to that one. Eventually they'll be parallel with a universe where the other thems have found the portal.
What they don’t realize is by messing with other parallel realities( Taking their money, friends, ideas & killing their best friends). That other realities eventually finds the mirror too and this leads to them crossing over and messing with them or even worse killing them. So long story short leave the parallels alone it’s all a loop.
Also another thing about the ending. She didn’t have time to dispose the body like that lady in beginning so maybe she threw dead Lena into the portal sending the corpse to atl reality. Otherwise if the body is still in restroom then the cops will find and it’ll be reported she’s dead and devin will find out he’s with a atl lena and idk if he will accept that Lena
But the cops would have found her corpse inside the alt world. Meaning when the cops do find the body. It's in an alt world.. Devin wouldn't find out. That crime never took place inside this world.
She came before they broke the mirror because she was looking for Devine and followed them to the gas station when she saw an opportunity to switch places . the mirror inside mirror effect is just to show that shes from another universe. and she found him by chance just like the other Devine found his father
The only inconsistency with that possibility is that when normal Leena is in the restroom she hears the portal sound that indicates that someone used a portal. If she was already there we wouldn't have heard that sound. Also, it was easy for Devin to locate his father because his father wasn't traveling anywhere. He was either going to be in prison or dead. The film explains that those are primarily the only outcomes for his father.

And it's possible that the sound was used just for a scare, but that would have been the only time in the film where it was used for that purpose alone.

This was a good movie and a good review! It does have some plot holes or rather things that aren't really explained all the way, but yea I agree about the ending possibly setting up a sequel. Alot of companies make writers have to do these open ended endings for that exact reason.

I thought the original Josh didn't own a gun. The first scene where he appears with the gun, Noel asks him about it and Josh replies, that he has a permit in the alt reality...That made me assume that's where he got the gun too, due to Noel's surprise of Josh having possession of the gun..
I think the other versions of the mirror still exist in alternate realities, but it doesn't explain how alternate Leena got to theirs. I agree though, that would be a great direction to go in with a sequel.

Noel is basically Young Rick from Rick & Morty. Leena is the old hermit lady who disappeared. The only thing I haven't figured out is who is the old man from the beginning? Is it a version of Josh who never knew about the mirror?
I forgot to rewatch the ending before returning the rental movie. It would be interesting to find out how Leena's alternate version managed to appear. Also, the movie does not show how the characters make it back. Maybe somehow they are able to reenter the mirror, as it exists, through an alternate universe.
That’s basically my take on it as well. I’d really like to see a sequel honestly. I spoke to the writer about the possibilities of a sequel and he mentioned that he’s got some ideas to expand the universe, so hopefully that’s something to look forward to that can answer a lot of our questions.
She didn't bother to ask Alternative Devin if he wanted to go back to his universe before smashing the mirror. Leading to her own death when her Alternative self kills her to be with A Devin
It is slightly confusing that the alternate version is a bit different in terms of hair color , spellings etc but all the people in the universe have married to exact person at the exact time as the original universe people as all the characters are exactly similar. If the minute details have changed then it is also possible that your version doesn’t exist in the parallel universe or he may exist but doesn’t look same.
This was a good mind twister but I know it has something to do with what Knoll did. Plus, whoever made the technology isn’t going to just keep it one spot, not necessarily.
I also enjoyed the movie more than I expected, based on the genre, which is a personal guilty pleasure of mine. I like your review style, though I was a bit disappointed that you could only speculate at the ending the way I did. Keep up the good work!

People who find time machines or ways to alter the world always seem to be idiots,there are about 5 movies similar to this and the characters are the exact same,they find it randomly and do extremely dumb things,the find the best thing ever but are always too dumb to properly use it without destroying,I want to see a movie where a smart person uses it to its full potential
With so many jump and time spent in R&D of several tech in some specific alt, how about the aging of the character? at some point Noel should have been noticeably aged. What do y'all think?
I was confused about the alt Devin part; was the Devin that Lena slept with an alt who was kidnapped the same way alt Josh was? And then the Devin she found at the cabin was the original who Noel had convinced to leave? Also, I read somewhere that based on 1 minute being 3 hours in the alt realities, that would mean 1 month is 15 years; seems like their shenanigans went on for well over a month with Lena painting and organising an exhibition, so wouldn't alt Devin be in his forties?
Noel had killed the original Devin she has slept with and brought back an alternate Devon and their timeline and then made up the story about the lawsuit to get him to run off to the cabin.
The acting I did like but the character writing is amazing. I was hating the “villian” all the way through! Screaming at the screen. “Kill him right fucking now!”
Considering the film was building a lore into the mirror and how it worked (I was quite enjoying the film at this point) the ending seemed to be shoe horned in, no explanation no nothing (plus the writing execution was really poor which added to my frustration, surely Devin would have spotted the imposter as she made it so stupidly obvious, what the director was thinking I have no idea). This film didn’t have the brilliance of Primer (or even understand itself based on the ending) with 100 times the budget.
Nice ending possibility explained. I would have liked the concept of who originally created the mirror technology introduced and the possibilities that come from that can be interesting, too.

Neela has been watching just like the older lady in the beginning because her Devin died and wanted to find a universe where Devin lives. However, how long has she been watching because they access different universe Everytime they enter. Unless the technology now has the ability to be mobile and controlled.
Those who are confused are confused because the ending was stupid and fails the great story that preceded it. Why do writers accept such trash thinking it is so self aware.
just finished... the ending wasn’t horrible but felt rushed... the last 15 mins was a blur and the final 2 was odd/strange. I still liked the movie overall. Im a sci-if junkie 😃

It was a pretty good movie, as I watched it twice, which is a rarity for me nowadays. Makes sense correlating the beginning with the end of the movie, didn't think about that, and unfortunately I think that is the case. Ending didn't make sense at all unless that, or setting up for a sequel. Either way, looks like all 4 "original" people we see throughout the first half of the movie are gone, so, then what?? It’s because of beta life…remember the paper that Noel showed a crumbled piece of paper being balled up then coming back flat. She took those broken pieces possible and used Noel’s tech to be able to somehow restore it , then when done teleporting return the pieces into little shard. Small enough to fit in her purse or bag.
Was thinking about this too: remember when that one guys father went to prison? And tried to kill himself? He mentioned he got involved with some bad people. Maybe they’ll do a prequel to this and talk about the mirrors origins and his father will be in it, when something goes wrong. Also maybe tie in the lady from the beginning.
I’m not sure what you mean. One Devin was the original reality’s Devin, and the other was an alt-Devin brought there by Noel who killed the original Devin. That’s how both versions ended up in the same universe.
Ok remember when the First Lady that discovered the mirror and went back to live and kill…Well she had a lot of mirrors in her house..I automatically thought that they could go through another mirror. The movie was good. The ending was stupid. If only it would’ve ended in a high note beyond belief like a paradox collapse or something by it bottom line, there was a brother in this sci-fi thriller and glad he made it thru the very end! 😇😌🤗
My brain hurts after this movie.. What if Devin jumped through, got knocked out and got amnesia, got his memory back after 30 years and went back to the mirror? But the last team kidnapped one Devin after a month and then old Devin meets old Devin???...
I thought the direction, Storyline, fx and acting was great. Does it have some continuity plot hole issues? Yes, however, it keeps you entertained & interested in how the story will play out, by the end it shows a plot twist. Someone mentioned in the comments that the older lady (Kathleen Quinlan) aka Marissa was older Leena in our world. Good idea, but i don't think they're the same person, they looking nothing alike. Ending explained: Remember while Leena & Devin are in bed, Devin says, "Noel has been gone 24/7 for Weeks, and he doesn't look tired." Noel has not only been corresponding with other alt worlds, Leenas but, himself as well, and has used versions of alt tech to trace in detail (time, place, history, worlds) on to different alt versions of themselves with, MIRRORS seen or unseen, kind of like in the old tv series Quantum Leap/The Voyagers/Sliders, meets Dr. Strange in the multiverse of madness, movie) so Leena goes into the bathroom, while alt Leena has traced Leena in our world, showing up thru a portal mirror and switches identities. Maybe alt leena killed the other Leena or knocked her out sending her to an different alt world than the one she was from, which doesn't have the kind of tech to time travel, leaving Leena stuck in a alt world. Alt Leena comes out forgetting music she previously listened to with devin, but he just thinks she absent-minded and thinks nothing of it. We assume alt leena boyfriend devin may have died in her alt world. Another hint which confirms Noel has been using alt tech in their world, in the weeks he was gone, is that when Devin & Leena are driving off, breaking news, from the National Institute of Science giving 3 new techs, that will revolutionize the world. So, this leaves us desiring a sequel, which I hope they do with same director & crew.

They write thinking of sequels and franchises instead of good films that can stand alone as well as leave the door open for a possible equal if the studio and/or audience demand it. This film is a bloated, confusing mess with bad marketing, wasted/vague characters (the bartender and her boyfriend), too many red herrings, an ending that betrays the 3rd act of the film and an over reliance on twists.

The room in the house with the old mirror was one portal. I think the restroom was another and the fact that there were 2 mirrors giving an arrayed affect, influenced this somehow. I think Lina got trapped in that restroom. Has something to do with not only the 2 reflecting mirrors but also Lina and Devin continued reading the diary and might have learned something new.
terrible movie. why does the best character always die while the crappy ones live? i was really hoping the other two die but he couldn't off the girl he loved. the ending is on par with The skeleton key in crap. 3/10 for bad ending.

Why would Noel who got shot in the chest at the end come back out of the mirror when he knows there is a guy with a gun waiting at the other end?
It is slightly confusing that the alternate version is a bit different in terms of hair color , spellings etc but all the people in the universe have married to exact person at the exact time as the original universe people as all the characters are exactly similar. If the minute details have changed then it is also possible that your version doesn’t exist in the parallel universe or he may exist but doesn’t look same.
I liked how the spelling thing reminded me so much of the Berenstain Bear Mandela effect. Made me question if I'm an alt 😂
Everytime they enter, do they enter at the same time in each universe OR at the same time of the Prime Universe.
This was a good mind twister but I know it has something to do with what Knoll did. Plus, whoever made the technology isn’t going to just keep it one spot, not necessarily.
I also enjoyed the movie more than I expected, based on the genre, which is a personal guilty pleasure of mine. I like your review style, though I was a bit disappointed that you could only speculate at the ending the way I did. Keep up the good work!

The ending was like the beginning. A woman killed her alternate self to get the man. But with the mirror broken, it doesn't make sense.
I also enjoyed this film more than I thought I would. And thank you for explaining the ending, because I was confused as I watched it happen, but now it all makes better sense.

People who find time machines or ways to alter the world always seem to be idiots,there are about 5 movies similar to this and the characters are the exact same,they find it randomly and do extremely dumb things,the find the best thing ever but are always too dumb to properly use it without destroying,I want to see a movie where a smart person uses it to its full potential

With so many jump and time spent in R&D of several tech in some specific alt, how about the aging of the character? at some point Noel should have been noticeably aged. What do y'all think?
What if the Noel killed by the mirror closing was another alternate version of Noel
I was confused about the alt Devin part; was the Devin that Lena slept with an alt who was kidnapped the same way alt Josh was? And then the Devin she found at the cabin was the original who Noel had convinced to leave? Also, I read somewhere that based on 1 minute being 3 hours in the alt realities, that would mean 1 month is 15 years; seems like their shenanigans went on for well over a month with Lena painting and organising an exhibition, so wouldn't alt Devin be in his forties?
Noel had killed the original Devin she has slept with and brought back an alternate Devon and their timeline and then made up the story about the lawsuit to get him to run off to the cabin.
The acting I did like but the character writing is amazing. I was hating the “villian” all the way through! Screaming at the screen. “Kill him right fucking now!”
Considering the film was building a lore into the mirror and how it worked (I was quite enjoying the film at this point) the ending seemed to be shoe horned in, no explanation no nothing (plus the writing execution was really poor which added to my frustration, surely Devin would have spotted the imposter as she made it so stupidly obvious, what the director was thinking I have no idea). This film didn’t have the brilliance of Primer (or even understand itself based on the ending) with 100 times the budget.
To be fair very few indie or even big budget Hollywood movies have the brilliance of Primer, which may have been lightning in a bottle.
Nice ending possibility explained. I would have liked the concept of who originally created the mirror technology introduced and the possibilities that come from that can be interesting, too.

It was interesting story but the acting was crap and there were some holes in the plot. Also The whole time I was watching this movie I was thinking about Rick and Morty. Haha

Need a sequel. Posting my theory for the ending before I watch the vid. Neela has been watching just like the older lady in the beginning because her Devin died and wanted to find a universe where Devin lives. However, how long has she been watching because they access different universe Everytime they enter. Unless the technology now has the ability to be mobile and controlled.
Those who are confused are confused because the ending was stupid and fails the great story that preceded it.
Why do writers accept such trash thinking it is so self aware.
just finished... the ending wasn’t horrible but felt rushed... the last 15 mins was a blur and the final 2 was odd/strange.

It was a pretty good movie, as I watched it twice, which is a rarity for me nowadays. Makes sense correlating the beginning with the end of the movie, didn't think about that, and unfortunately I think that is the case. Ending didn't make sense at all unless that, or setting up for a sequel. Either way, looks like all 4 "original" people we see throughout the first half of the movie are gone, so, then what?? Oh well, it was a good movie & thanks for your take on it.

It’s because of beta life…remember the paper that Noel showed a crumbled piece of paper being balled up then coming back flat. She took those broken pieces possible and used Noel’s tech to be able to somehow restore it , then when done teleporting return the pieces into little shard. Small enough to fit in her purse or bag.

Was thinking about this too: remember when that one guys father went to prison? And tried to kill himself? He mentioned he got involved with some bad people. Maybe they’ll do a prequel to this and talk about the mirrors origins and his father will be in it, when something goes wrong. Also maybe tie in the lady from the beginning.
I think they did find a way to travel to a specific universe because if not how did both evil devins get there without holding hands
I’m not sure what you mean. One Devin was the original reality’s Devin, and the other was an alt-Devin brought there by Noel who killed the original Devin. That’s how both versions ended up in the same universe.

Ok remember when the First Lady that discovered the mirror and went back to live and kill…Well she had a lot of mirrors in her house..I automatically thought that they could go through another mirror. So one of my conclusions was that Noel, mayB had figured out to and or created another mirror that of course Lena knew about.. MayB but I liked all of ur guesses 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🤬
The movie was good. The ending was stupid. If only it would’ve ended in a high note beyond belief like a paradox collapse or something by it bottom line, there was a brother in this sci-fi thriller and glad he made it thru the very end! 😇😌🤗

My brain hurts after this movie.. What if Devin jumped through, got knocked out and got amnesia, got his memory back after 30 years and went back to the mirror? But the last team kidnapped one Devin after a month and then old Devin meets old Devin???...

I liked the format.
I thought the direction, Storyline, fx and acting was great. Does it have some continuity plot hole issues? Yes, however, it keeps you entertained & interested in how the story will play out, by the end it shows a plot twist. Someone mentioned in the comments that the older lady (Kathleen Quinlan) aka Marissa was older Leena in our world. Good idea, but i don't think they're the same person, they looking nothing alike. Ending explained: Remember while Leena & Devin are in bed, Devin says, "Noel has been gone 24/7 for Weeks, and he doesn't look tired." Noel has not only been corresponding with other alt worlds, Leenas but, himself as well, and has used versions of alt tech to trace in detail (time, place, history, worlds) on to different alt versions of themselves with, MIRRORS seen or unseen, kind of like in the old tv series Quantum Leap/The Voyagers/Sliders, meets Dr. Strange in the multiverse of madness, movie) so Leena goes into the bathroom, while alt Leena has traced Leena in our world, showing up thru a portal mirror and switches identities. Maybe alt leena killed the other Leena or knocked her out sending her to an different alt world than the one she was from, which doesn't have the kind of tech to time travel, leaving Leena stuck in a alt world. Alt Leena comes out forgetting music she previously listened to with devin, but he just thinks she absent-minded and thinks nothing of it. We assume alt leena boyfriend devin may have died in her alt world. Another hint which confirms Noel has been using alt tech in their world, in the weeks he was gone, is that when Devin & Leena are driving off, breaking news, from the National Institute of Science giving 3 new techs, that will revolutionize the world. So, this leaves us desiring a sequel, which I hope they do with same director & crew.

Thank you and I was only able to explain all the information that has been revealed or discovered so far. The ending was a plot hole and it's completely ambiguous as to how she got there until more is possibly revealed by the writers.
This is a prime example of writing for an ending without explaining earlier how it’s possible.

They write thinking of sequels and franchises instead of good films that can stand alone as well as leave the door open for a possible equal if the studio and/or audience demand it. This film is a bloated, confusing mess with bad marketing, wasted/vague characters (the bartender and her boyfriend), too many red herrings, an ending that betrays the 3rd act of the film and an over reliance on twists.
She came before they broke the mirror because she was looking for Devine and followed them to the gas station when she saw an opportunity to switch places

Yeah, the plot hole at the end really threw off the consistency of the film.
It sucks because they didn't set up how that would even be possible without a mirror on the other side. If they maybe left one breadcrumb it could have been satisfying

The room in the house with the old mirror was one portal. I think the restroom was another and the fact that there were 2 mirrors giving an arrayed affect, influenced this somehow. I think Lina got trapped in that restroom. Has something to do with not only the 2 reflecting mirrors but also Lina and Devin continued reading the diary and might have learned something new.
This movie was dope. The whole family enjoyed it 🤙🙏
