I checked for GAIL share, it looks pretty good to me to hold for long term as debt free company with having multiple growth opportunities. But many people are saying that tgis is a PSU stock..so don't go for it. So I am confused now should I go for buyback / sell rest of my holding shares or should I hold for long term ? But what if the company is raising capital (taking debt) at let’s say x% and is sure /hopeful that the buyback would help to increase the share price by (x+y)%, then I think taking debt and doing a buyback makes sense since it would be more value accretive for the investors. Obviously here my presumption is that company should’ve consistent free cash flows (like FMCG, utilities, etc). Teledyne (US company) became a 100 bagger stock by buying back around 90% of its outstanding shares. Finally everything boils down to whether the managers are allocating the capital in a prudent manner.
