Hollywood would force Mike to have a black scientist or transgender character if he had his own show. 😂
I have learned so much from Mike he is simply the best at what he does....
Thanks, mike
He does some great work👍
he just throws mortar at stuff. lol. just kidding. hes pretty good. but yeah thats all he does
That broom looks exactly like the same model my ex-wife rides.

We have , Amazon prime, HBO, Netflix, Gaia and cable TV but seeing new videos on your channel gives me most joy Mike. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks, mike
It’s really amazing how that pattern really does hide all the in and out and variability of the wall. It’s awesome.
Thanks Joe, Mike
I just love the way Mike talks. He has a truly unique way of doing things. Thinks like( the witches broom) (and throwing it in there) are just a few catch phrases that are Mike's trade mark. Oh yah don't forget to make it wet or it won't stick. Just love it...
Thanks Tom, Mike
He is a great guy, very genuine. You can just sense it.
A really good primer on how to repair an old field stone/ “mine rubble” stone foundation
Thanks Larry, mike
I wasn’t sure about this at first because I love the stone look , even if it is “ junk rock “ ! But you made a believer out of me for this particular job because the stone work mixed with the other materials just didn’t look so good. It looks great now Mike ! You are a magician ! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thanks Gary, I appreciate it, Mike
One of my favorite videos you’ve done so far. Really like the details.

Old world charm, for some reason i like that look better than the modern stuff.

Awesome thank you for your time .just the video I needed. Only difference is the stone is in the basement and the gaps are much bigger. I was thinking of using some spray foam for the deep ones .what do you think?
, I never use the spray foam, I just build it out every day utill I get to where I want it, thanks Mike

Mike thank you for sharing with us. After hearing from others to use lime mortar as it is better I have learned the truth from you.
Hi, some disagree, but it's what works for me, thanks Mike
I love your work bro. I would love to come work for you full-time
Hi John, I am mostly retired, just doing work for friends and family, but I appreciate it, thanks Mike
Looks great, keep up the good work.
Thanks paul, mike
Mike-love your vids- for novices like me needing to repair a one inch crack in a stair descending into a cellar, how do we know different purposes/uses of mortar mix, Portland cement, various caulks for masonry, quick set concrete mix, etc. What are the different uses and when? Thank you!
Hi marclibant,, I have videos on "concrete step repair" or "what cement should I use" Mike haduck, "foundation repair " etc, I show what I used in each case, thanks Mike
Would you do the same thing for the inside of the basement? Thing is i have concrete floors so i guess i could wet vac the floor after spraying water. Thanks! I'll search you're other videos for basement work.
Hi Ryan, all through my foundation repair and stone foundation repair videos I show what I use for repairs, outside and inside, thanks Mike
@@MikeHaduck The issue is I need a video on inside stone foundation repair and all your videos say foundation repair with a #. I don't have the time to look through 26 plus videos to find the right one, you should put a better description on your video titles. This way you will get more views. I like your videos but just dont have the time. I appreciate the help thanks.
@ryan6391 hi try part 4 and 5 to start, good point I will have to make distinctions, but basically it's the same inside as outside. I hope it helps, Mike
@@MikeHaduck thanks! I did start at 1 and that was helpful because I have a doorway to do. I'll definitely look at 4 and 5. I have a big project. With the quality of your videos I would think if you included some detail in the descriptions you would get a lot of views. Thanks a bunch!
Legendary!
Tanks James, Mike

Thanks Francisco, mike
Awesome trowel skills
Thanks Charles, Mike
A house is only as strong as its foundation. A foundation is always stronger after Mike is done!!
Thanks Thomas, mike
No big deal Mike 😎 job well done. Haha a magician with a combat finish.
Thanks L, mike
It really is like magic!
Thanks Thomas, mike
I noticed as you were doing the final coat, you put the trowel to the wall and went up, leaving the shelf facing down to keep from holding water. Good work AND video,...
Thanks Randy, mike
the No Big Deal! is well done , for sure! thanks mike.... wall looks reptile now!
Thanks , mike
I think my house price went up as well Mike.
Thanks Keef, mike
Great video. I have a 117 stone foundation house in MN that could use that upgrade. Settling has created some bigger cracks over the years I suspect but not sure there is much more settling still going on. So this type of job would make the foundation look much better.
One question, if old foundation had been painted, how much of the paint should be removed before refacing the stones?
Hi Rick, I got a whole playlist on "foundation repair" where I come across that, sometimes I just score it out with a small grinder, but I don't always get all the paint off, thanks Mike
Love this and all your other videos. Approximately how many years would a coat like this last?
Hi, depends on raingutters, winters, upkeep, etc, thanks mike
Every mine in South Wales had a brick works clay they dug out . Dave from Wales 🏴
Thanks dave, mike
Mike, could you talk to the differences in cement vs. mortar? I always thought they were the same thing.
Hi, I did a video called " lime, mortar or portland " what should I use? That might help, thanks Mike
this was a masterpiece of cement work; .you should get someone to contact rapidset or home depot to get them to sponsor your videos and to play your banjo with steve martin at store openings in pennsylvania? or .get a female or male singer;steve martin has music group and he plays banjo. just used blue bag rapidset .ben
Thanks ben, yea he is a great banjo player for sure, if they wanted me they would find me, I will do a bit of banjo playing at the end of my next video. Lol.mike
Nice work ! I see the reason for this finish in this case but I'd prefer a pointed stone foundation with exposed stones if trying to keep the historical esthetics...what does a job like that cost normally?
Hi, it depends on the mason, where, what, when etc, it's a hard question to answer , Mike
@@MikeHaduck what do you think as an estimate?
Can i do this inside of the house in the basement stone as well?
Hi. I usually do, Mike
You are awesome Mike, but I will have to light a candle and pray for that hatchet.
Just curious- in a future video can you explain how you decided the 1/2 s mortar and half Portland? Would love to know the story there.
Hi Lewis, it's a good mix for that sort of thing it my area, gives it strength and plyability, my opinion, thanks mike
Happy New Year! Get your corned beef and cabbage! Lol...
Thanks Chad, it's on the stove now, lol mike
On the scratch coat...I thought you were going to plaster over those tall weeds. Mike telling us..."plaster over the weeds and tall grass, it adds lots of strength". "That's what the Romans did hundred years ago". Good video Mike!
Thanks Gibson, mike
Sell merch!
I would buy a sweatshirt that said “no big deal” on it.
Hi John, I will get to it, I been busy, but I appreciate it, Mike
You add straight Portland (100%) cement to the S mortar (66% Portland/33% Lime) to boast the overall ratio of Portland cement of your mortar mix to get a harder mortar?
Hi Richard, the old timers didn't have the new bag mixes where you just add water, so even today I use my own recipe, I add the sand, mortar and Portland as I see fit, if I am using a bag mix where you just add water I might add a little Portland for strength, but everything depends on the situation, thanks mike
Whats the difference is content between masonry cement and portland cement , is there by any chance lime in masonry cement " Type S Calcium hydroxide 0.1-3.0%"
Hi Nico, I did a couple videos called " what cement should I use? They might help, thanks Mike
@@MikeHaduck Yeah I Know, Thanks Mike, but you say lime isn't any good in your climate but on the other hand you mix your Portland cement with a product containing lime, why do you do that? Where i live we make so called bastard mortars containing 1 part portland , 2 parts hydrated lime and 4 parts sand and it holds up fine outside We tend to make the scratch coat softer so it can move and expand with the building and the finishing coat harder..
I would say that is does make it a little more flexable and easier to use, I size up the situation and like a doctor choose how much of each medicine works in each situation, it's not black and white, I would say experience dictate, thanks mike
At the prep stage, would you say its the right thing to do would be to hose or blow out all the loose old mortar and leave whatever doesn't hose or blow out?
Hi Laguna, that is usually what I do, like a dentist, only remove the bad stuff, thanks mike
Great video Mike! I've learned so much watching you work. About how long will a "fix" like this last? Thanks
Hi Philip, depends on rain gutters, freezing rain, snow , etc, if it wasn't in the weather it's a long time, thanks, Mike
So I'm pretty much doing the same thing. But i have a few qeustions,
My first question is, i dont have portland cement, but i do have portland stright from the bag. Would this work just as fine on the first pass over for the "glue"? Or is just putting water on before with a spayer work judt fine? Only asking because ive just been sparying water, but aeeing this with the portland as cement makes me wonder if i need to do that?
As for the masonary cement, would regular type "s" mortar work? And then usually add a few scoops of portland with sand. (Its not a big batch) Any help would be much appreciated. Starting to get into this trade and this video really helped!
Hi, every situation is different, I have a video out called " lime, mortar or portland " what should I use and on all my other foundation videos I show what I used in each circumstance, I would not over think it, do a few samples and start where it is least seen, wait a couple days and see how it is turning out, thanks Mike
Hi Mike. We are using your videos as a guide for repairing our old stone foundation up here in Canada. I am trying to get the same consistency to my mortar mix as you, how much water should I add? Are you using 1 full bucket then adding more as needed? Any advice would be appreciated!
Hi, I show how I mixed it in each episode, I usually just add water till I get the right consistency, thanks Mike
Hey Mike, have you ever poured a 6" concrete layer around an old stone foundation?
Because it pushes our the bottom sill i guess you could taper it?
Hi Zick, I never had, if I am reading you right, if it's a water problem it's usually bad rain gutters and the land is not pitched away from the house, I never seen a band of concrete fix that, thanks Mike
