My main reason l fasted was to lose weight. Lost 65lbs in one year. In the meantime my cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure are in the green... according to my doctor. Also l am no longer pre diabetic, because of fasting. I no longer count calories, though l do eat whole foods. Thanks to fasting.

I personally get by far the most benefits from a 3 day fast. Check with Doc first. A 5 day Longo fast mimicking diet has similar results but is safer for the heart. Feel amazing after it, renewed. I also mange on average a 9 hour eating window. I find I get the same benefits as a 3 day fast from a 2 day one, if I do a 2-3 hour cycle ride (with no food) before it to burn up all the glycogen.

@@firstnamelastname2669 agreed, but does not "IF" tech mean shorter fasts? The definitions are a hard to fully be sure of? IF seems to mean alternate-day fasting, periodic fasting such as the 5:2 diet, and daily time-restricted eating (TRE)?]

Could you perhaps talk about antibiotics and fasting. Is there any information on how intermittent fasting potentially could reduce all the bad side effects after taking a course of antibiotics ? I maybe it could Possibly speed up the recovery process?

I have a question around the clean fast and our sense of smell. I've been IFing for 17 weeks now, down 28 pounds, so I'm a believer. Wfohen I'm in my fasting state and I smell food cooking I usually get hunger pains. Is there a chance that can mess up my clean fast?

It's not a good idea for people who suffer from painful shingles or herpes simplex or complex to fast as the body starts to build the amino acid arginine, which triggers attacks . Can you suggest another route for these sufferers? Thank you .

In my experience if I avoid sugary foods or starchy carbs I don't get hungry and don't feel any need to snack. Just eat two meals a day. Very easy. By giving it a fancy name this podcast overdramatises it.

There's difference that every individual lives different lifestyles. If you sit on couch and do nothing, of course you can do 20 hours without food. Now try to work psychical work and do 20 hour fasts, even if it's possible, because it's indeed possible I tried. You would be sluggish as hell

@@psycho.9656try switching to a high fat low carb diet for a few days, this makes the transition to fasted state less challenging as the body is perfectly capable of supplying sufficient energy to muscles and brain from fat stores alone, on this diet it makes you change over more manageable. humans would not have made it through evolutionary bottlenecks without the ability to do hard work when food was not available
Most modern urbanised humans in industrial nations are coddled and think hunger sensations are to be avoided at all cost, mindfulness practice will help you understand it is merely a sensation, and not a threat to life, at least not in the short term, cases of undernutrition aside.
