at 6:00 should the null hyp not be 'not representative' if the guy claimed that in the question as opposed to what you've done?

why is it 1.96 and where did you get that formula?????????
The 1.96 is the z score, which comes from the "probability for standard normal distribution" (pg 36 Log Tables). 1.96 relates to 0.975 or 97.5% (i.e 2.5% at either end), which makes 5% in total. Hence 95% confidence interval.
