      I read in many forums that leaves planted that way hardly (if ever) grow into complete individual plants. I did try this technique with my variegated Cuban oregano and yep, they haven't grown into anything. They're not dead, however, just sitting there nicely with roots. It's fascinating.

    I have no problem with Cuban oregano here in Malaysia, both the green variety and the variegated variety. I just stick the stems in soil, water them, and in few days they start to sprout. I eat them both, as juice blended with cucumber. Or I use them as seasoning for my spaghetti sauce and in pies.

    Nice video. Nwys what type of soil u are using for ur cuban oregano? They look so healthy. I jjst potted mine ysday but i worried it may rot coz i had trauma for realizing that cuttings not need to potted to vegetable potting mix as it hold too much water, i tried to rescue putting it to prem potting mix with perlite, too late, dead.

    • @Liap
      @Liap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 🙂
      The soil type I used for these was universal substrate, which is very similar to the vegetable potting mix. Cuban oregano is very prone to overwatering, it will survive draught easily, but will die fast in wet medium. Even while trying to root cuttings, the soil should be more dry than wet. Especially if you grow them indoors, out of direct sunlight.

    • @eckehareckbert2731
      @eckehareckbert2731 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate ur reply, i am thinking of repotting it with mixing the horticutural sand. I planted it ysdy using potting mix with perlite. Thank u in advance if i could get thoughts on doing this or maybe just leave it, as it may only cause repotting/plant shock.

    • @Liap
      @Liap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eckehareckbert2731 Both perlite and horticultural sand are viable ideas. But I wouldn't transplant it again. If you watered it well after planting, just leave in in shady spot and wait. Did you root the cuttings in water before planting them or did you put them straightly into the soil?

      @@Liap thanks. I bought an established plant this time, already big and i was able to divide them into 4 plants coz i was lucky that private home was selling it. However, i am still bit scared that it would rot ,, coz tbh i killed plants even wIth roots 😂😅 no cuttings this time. Yup i agreed, i think i won't repot as i did that so many times to my blueberries and they weren't happy. Sometimes, too much caring isn't good lol

      Have just "acquired" *cough* two stems, & am about to strip for putting into water (in Durban, South Africa...on cusp of autumn, after which we have spring again...min mid"winter" night T *might* drop to 5⁰...C - in which case papers call it "a cold snap")

    I just want to know why after I took out my beautiful green oregano plant out of it's smaller pot transferred it to a bigger pot it's turning yellow. I also took it outside to get sun light then I noticed it is starting to turn yellow I am scared of losing my plant please help!

    • @Liap
      @Liap  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, there might be more things causing you plant going yellow.
      1 - Fertilizer. When I fertilized my Cuban Oregano with high nitrogen fertilizer it turned yellow in no time. But luckily survived. So no high nitrogen fertilizer. Including soil mix high in nitrogen content.
      2 - Overwatering or slow draining soil - a common thing that leads plants to turn yellow and if not solved, to death.
      3 - Yellow leaves may be a sign of transplantation stress. Did you trim the plant back before transplanting into a bigger pot?

    • @adrianavaca2417
      @adrianavaca2417 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Liap Thank you for your reply. I didn't trim the plant just changed it from it's original pot to a bigger pot. I didn't realize it but I used a potting soil that I bought for it I am not sure what kind it was because I threw the bag out because I used it in other plants as well that are actually doing good. Except for my Cuban oregano plant😪

    • @adrianavaca2417
      @adrianavaca2417 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What soil mix should I use? I think it might be the soil or not sure what but I might of used something she didn't like. I just hope I can rescue her and not lose her.

    • @Liap
      @Liap  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As longs as your other herbs are doing well, the soil is probably not a problem. Check for pests if you haven't already and mainly check if the soil is not too wet. It still might be reaction to the transplanting. How long has it been since that?
      If there is not problem with overwatered soil nor pests, you will probably have to trim the plant back. It will encourage the plant to start new growths.
