    Simply; the greatest music product demonstrator I have ever seen. He sold all the Motifs. Hope he's doing well. So much energy and enthusiasm. I wish others would take a leaf out of his page, if only for pretence. Big up yourself Bert! One love from out of Jamaica! I still watch your old Motif, MOX and MOFX videos.

Ciao e complimenti.

    For the first time, Bert didn't sell me. Knowing how he did his thing with the Motif line, I feel like he didn't put enough time or energy into this one. Don't get me wrong, the Montage is the successor over the Motif.... Bert didn't sell it like I know he should of 😥...

      Kronos keys arent as good as yamaha’s. All subjective anyway. Most of korg’s engines in kronos are sample playback anyway.

      He couldn't convince me of the advantages of Montage over Motif XF. I did not like the new product at all. Didn't he prepare before presenting? Also his presentation of the four Refaces at Sonicstate was all rush rush. Like he didn't like to do this anymore. Maybe that is why he left Yamaha. But now we have Dom Sigalas. He did sell me all four Refaces at Dr Mix with very convincing playing. Nevertheless I do miss Bert's take on it. It used to be very entertaining to watch. I'm absolutely sure he has sold many workstations at Yamaha.

    4:21 - Can this USB Audio/MIDI Interface technology inside the keyboard bring benefit in case of using an iPad? I mean, to connect USB cable from the keyboard to iPad's Lightning to USB adapter. And then to be able to transfer not only MIDI data, but also Audio into iPad's DAW. Is it possible?

    Great Synth, but who should be able to programm new sounds? This version might be good for live players, for synth lovers Yamaha has to come up with a much different interface. IF the synth is so complex, the interface could be either like on the Volce FM = slimmed down to certain parameters or/and with a lot of randomizing/mutating functions. But if you do such a version, please Yamaha: give it the same converters/sound. That sound is really great!

    Nothing new here with the technology even though it takes it a step further in updating the Motif series, a DX-7 and the AWM SY-77 and SY-99 series with a Motif twist brings everything full circle for this achievement in ground breaking sound, keyboardist are very serious when it comes to sound especially when it comes to their music especially being cost effective. i have yet to see a great presentation in what these new offerings can really do as the competition heats up once again..

    Announcement : We the little people, aka the buyers are not stupid. Repetitive demos, little manuals are not cutting it. Most people will have already spent their tax money on a motif xf to get the packages or a kronos as prices are declining. I'm not big enough to get a free keyboard to demo as these guys, but I'm smart enough to know when to hold. If I was you Yamaha I would fire your Sales & Growth officer. Not sure what group they are targeting , but its not everyone who is stating the same things through forum, and all out social media. I'm not sure if I even have patient to wait for it to come out hopefully be put in the Guitar Center to demo, and then purchase. A kronos and ominsphere combined is still less than this DJ keyboard. Appreciate Bert, for his antics, but I still am waiting. As everyone at NAMM who touched it said they would show why it is a must have..

    • @dvamateur
      @dvamateur 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Greg Short It's not a DJ keyboard. Sure, the color touchscreen, LED'ed encoders, and especially the "super knob" or on the cheesy side, but so is the market today. I prefer Motif XF7 as well, at least aesthetically, 'cause it does not have any of the cheeseballs I mentioned above. Nonetheless, let's try to be happy and applaud Yamaha for still offering proper keyboard player instruments in three decent size. No 3-octave mini keys, and yes, there is aftertouch on all the models. So, it's definitely not a DJ equipment.
      As far as holding off goes, my most advanced Yamaha instruments are SY99 and A3000. There's really no need to buy something new so very often, unless you are a session player, and you have to have the latest model to get calls. Or you can practice keyboard playing on what you have, and get calls anyway. Me, as a hobbyist, I can choose what I really like, and to me the sweet spot for synthesizers was the period between 1987-1991. The DX7, D-50, and DX7II are still my backbone of synthesis and 5-octave keyboard portability, and the SY77 and SY99 are so advanced, that it will suffice you a lifetime. Having said that, I must say I quite like the Jupiter-80, Motif XF7, and the Montage 7. Don't have any of those, because of obvious reason: the cost. Shelling out $3,000+ on a synthesizer is no small feat in today's job market; nonetheless, if I had the beans, I'd probably buy those three 6-octave instruments.
      Kronos does not much up here, because Kronos is based on a generic $100 Intel Atom PC. Kronos also lacks in aesthetics. For Omnisphere you still need some hardware, so the cost can get quite high. I'd stick with Roland and Yamaha. Although, Roland, after the departure of Mr. Ikutaro Kakehashi, seems to be catering to the same audience as Korg, with their awful 2-octave Boutique series. I mean, that's toy market. The Montage series is definitely not a toy market, and calling it a DJ keyboard is out of place. You're going to see some fine keyboard players reaching out for the Montage. Of course, truly the finest will stick with acoustic piano and Nord Lead 2, but won't be mentioning the names.

    • @collectivethoughts1379
      @collectivethoughts1379 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andrew Piatek Good response sir ! I was a bit dramatic in wording, but I love Yamaha's effort. Currently, as you noted I'm a Nord Electro type of guy and Roland Juno for my JP Synths/Brass. Me and people like with the help of the Nano pad or midi controllers do everything seamlessly with VST. Onmnisphere sounds are fat coupled with the vast array of freeware it is the reason you see laptops onstages..Oh the DJ part is because the presenters are all trying to be consumed with twisting knobs and mainly the super knob which is more DJ like than any functional keyboard player.. I actually like the montage it is actually the board I believe fits me with the layering transistional type functions ;minus all the the drums pointless arpeggios. Hence, what Nord leaves out! The SY77 sounds are in this board from various demos I have heard. Yes, the SY is my fav!!! The Kronos is a beast Sir! All my guys JB Bratten, Cory Henry, etc in my church community are lovers of Kronos and Nord. The Motif XF /Fantom is the affordable options now for performance. With Montage deals are flowing in which is why I reflected though I want one I probably get a Jupiter 80 or Kronos. The botiques are a joke like I played a gig with ipad garage band sounds midi controller very well. These mobile boards are a waste of money, and not the answer to the lugging workstations/synths . I don't understand why the pros get free boards just to play a vague demo, and then they won't even use it in their sets....I want to see a Montage in a live performance. I get mad its like having a Roland V-Synth trying to play piano on it..I want to see the full fat layering in action.

    • @dvamateur
      @dvamateur 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Greg Short Yeah, it's interesting that it seems to be as important what the electronic instruments has as well as what it does not have. We keyboard players get a lot of bad rap due to the fact that electronic keyboard instruments could play by themselves long time ago. I am talking about electronic organs with auto-accompaniments and the slew of home keyboards that followed. So, in view of the public, keyboard players are no longer viable musicians, since they don't have to play anything. Ironically, professional MIDI sequencers and computer applications took it to even greater level of automation. Not sure if a laptop on stage is such a desirable view anymore, but anywho, there are multiple options around.
      I don't believe that Motif XF will become that affordable all of the sudden. JP-80 price went down to $2,500, but that's still expensive. Sure, guys like Chick Corea will immediately get a set of Montage 8 and Montage 6, but aside from that, I don't think of too many players worth the endorsement. Still, I am an older generation than you, and even though I saw Cory Henry presenting the Korg ARP Odyssey last year, that was the only time I ever heard him. Sure, I am living in the past by still being most excited by the early digital synthesizers, such as the DX7 and D-50. What I like about these instruments are foremost the aesthetics, keyboard feel, build quality, and sound of course. DX7 Mk1 is still to me the most expressive synthesizer. It can sound fat and analog, which many of the DX7 bashers don't want to admit.
      Anyway, I think the Montage is great news from Yamaha. I was quite concerned when they came out with the Reface series. It was supposed to recapture the CBX-K1XG "magic", but not sure where the CBX-K1XG magic really was, maybe in the Japanese market, not really sure. Interestingly, Yamaha cut out the sequencer section out of the Montage. That's a strange move, because honestly, the sequencer never bothered me in the SY77/SY99 or Motif, or any other synthesizer. What bothers me more, is skimping on build quality, processing speed, aesthetics, etc. Anyway, all keyboards will sound good if the keyboard player is good. Maybe we have too many options around and too little money and space at home to explore all of them.
      Montage will definitely be impressive for session players and hip-hop buffs. Those like to show off with rigs of expensive keyboards, which I think it's okay. These are after all still keyboards that can be played, unlike the 3-octave contraptions with knobs, on which pierced and tattooed individuals will mainly twiddle the cutoff and resonance knobs trying to convince us how genius the are. I am looking for different things though. Lots of player are so rusty on keys these days. But there are some who are amazing.
      Soft synths? I am not a big fan, even though they sound great. They lack the physical aspect, and an instrument should be physical object I think. Sure, the D-50 is arguably a soft synth since 70% of it's development was software. Nord Lead is even more of a soft synths. Still, they run on a unique dedicated hardware. VariOS with VC-1 card is fantastic, but it's not the same as the real D-50/D-550. I think it's all down to personal opinions. But there is some objectivity in the air too that everyone knows. Everyone knows who they are. If I had the large, and had to buy new keyboard now, I'd get Motif XF7 then Montage 7. I am curious about the FM-X part. I only hope that the super knob does not keep dub-step alive and well :)

    Motion sequence was in Korg's Wavestation a million years ago. Yamaha is the Apple of synths: always too expensive for what you get. But for those with no problem spending 3000 to 4000 usd/euro (I would buy a Dave Smith Prophet 12 for that money) go ahead and enjoy. You might even think you are a full orchestra by just using one key LOL

    • @snuppssynthchannel
      @snuppssynthchannel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is more of a modern Sy77, a synth that was/is loved by many. Cant compare a prophet 12 with this.

    • @snuppssynthchannel
      @snuppssynthchannel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And Yamaha Is not Apple of synths, most of their synths are very reasonable priced. Like the MOXF, and many of their motifs too. To compare Yamaha With a shitty Company like apple is illogical, since the build quality of Yamaha has always been top notch when Apple build quality is terrible. If you want poor build and construction quality, Korg is the company for you: King korg, Mini louge, mono louge, Kross, Pa1000, Crome, Micro Korgs, M50 are all of sub standard build quality and korgs customer service is not good in europe, Even The Kronos has its Construction flaws and that is their flagship. I agree that the Montage is overpriced but its, a fantastic synthesizer.

    I really wanted the MONTAGE 88 but YAMAHA will never LEARN. you need 9 SLIDERS for ORGAN not 8. I don't get WHY they don't understand that people want 9 & NEED 9 sliders. There are so many comments that have said they won't buy this montage because of the 8 SLIDERS. They are begging Yamaha To add a 9th slider. I dont' see how this is so hard for Yamaha You are losing SOME BUSINESS just because of this ONE ISSUE. I SOLD MY MOTIF XF 8 because I thought it had 9 sliders for organ when I got it home I realized it only had 8. So I sold it after I was tired of it and bought the NEW KORG KRONOS LS 88.

      +Victor M. Sáa I think the product was still receiving last minute fixes & additional tweaking at the time he made the video.I suspect he'll be making a more in depth video in a couple of months.

    AFTER OWNING MOTIF XF 8 and switching to KORG KRONOS LS 88 it has 9 SOUND ENGINES. THIS montage HAS ONLY 1

    Presentation a little bit too much. Necessary? Reminds me to the sellers on a marketplace! We call it "Marktschreier"

    Bert , ik denk dat je veel beter kunt dan deze presentatie , ik mis je gedrevenheid.

      Er zit niet meer de uitgebreide interne sequencer in, zoals voorheen (vind ik geen ramp), en dan komt het misschien wat soberder over in de demo, het is toch wat meer op sound design gericht, maar als deze demo in combinatie was met een pc cubase combinatie, en met publiek erbij, dan denk ik dat het wat meer (entertainer) als vanouds zou klinken.

      @@TheEdwin73 , snap je wel en ik denk dat je het juist omschrijft. De Montage vraagt waarschijnlijk een iets andere presentatie met daarbij een ander publiek , als deze al geintresseerd zouden zijn in een 'flitsende'demo. Een show weggeven in gecompliceerder geluidbewerking in fijnere stappen, is een zelfde show weggeven als het clocken van een AMD processor.

    Make hammonds sound less cheesy, include corea's rhodes for free, and I will buy the synth.. also, program all the pads and strings totale respond correctly to the sustain pedal as default: as for the mox and the motif, layering a pad to a piano is a pain in the ass, because the notes (of the pad) mix to each other resulting in a confused and awful sound. It's really annoying to edit the single sound lowering the decay value until it sounds correctly with the sustain pedals, and then make the layers.. please do it! Or at least creat a "layer" version of the "layerable", for immediate use

    Crappy demo for such a fantastic new product! As a professional keyboardist that has been playing professionally since the mid-70s -these dumbed down demos really insult my intelligence, as well as a lot of other folks in the musical community. Really? Can we dive in a little deeper? A lot of this sound can be made with a free VST plug-in in your computer. Show me something new, especially for a product of 3000 or more bucks
