never heard this song, but as a chinese born american whose single brain cell split in half while hearing those names, this hits on a spiritual level.
MXTX is now officially the first author in the world to have animatics for EVERY ONE OF HER BOOKS to this song! (Well, this book has the most obvious casting for the dragon role, since it’s the only one with a humanoid/snake character!) The animatic is adorable, I think my favorite part was the chibi Shen Qingqiu drinking tea between the verses!
I like to think that this takes place during some kind of wife-plot where they all got stuck in a common story but they had to make up their own names so Binghe just went with the fakest names he could come up with and SY just followed his lead (and everyone else followed SY's lead).
