Cheap headers failed on my NSX. How long did they last? What am I doing about it?

I am pretty sure the Memphis roads broke your headers. Thanks for the upload!

I've driven on worse, but they weren't the best. Hopefully the new ones will see me through at least twice as long.

You should buy SOS headers. Pride headers don’t have good merger. I had a pair of SOS headers. Unfortunately they don’t fit my extra volume oil pan so I ended up selling them and got KSP headers from Japan.

I know there have been several iterations of the Pride header so probably worth a caveat/asterisk there. That said, when I bought these, SOS had no stock and RFY/KSP were (and are still) 3x or more the cost. If I make any changes in the future one thing I'll be looking at is making the inside diameter of all of the piping consistent, right now there is a small step down from the headers to the high flow cats. I don't think it would hurt anything from a power standpoint (and might help fitment) to run fractionally smaller primaries and collectors to keep flow uninterrupted by pipe size change.

@@LapoftheWorld personally I would look for a pair of NA2 headers if I do it again. A local nsx guy told me that his na1 gained 30bhp after engine tuning. Those aftermarket headers really don’t provide that much gain as advertised in real world. This is from our real experience.

@@jemje2007 I did look explore that option, though none were readily available at the time. I think going from the old cast iron log to almost any kind of header will yield good improvement. That said, I think you can probably optimize some. One plus of NA2 heads is that I imagine they come with heat shielding and such that is absent all aftermarket solutions that I've seen.

These gaskets they send are not very good (from what I can tell on the phone). The EP3 uses a similar gasket for the cat. Honda's gasket is on a whole another level. If you want to measure them let me know and I will measure the Honda ones to see if they work. Trying to save you some grief down the road. The Honda donut gaskets are not cheap as an FYI.

Thanks for the tip. I'll measure them this evening and reply here with the dimensions. I may end up using these for the moment, but if Honda OE is an option I'd consider upgrading them down the road/over the winter.

+EP3 Track Time - These are 2.47" ID / 3.05"OD / 0.65" thick. I think I see the Honda gasket's you're talking about and they are definitely proud of them. LMK if those measurements match and I'll consider ordering some when I order the manifold gaskets (which are much cheaper).

Hey man. Took me a minute to find it. Seems they are bit off. 2.55 ID , 3.28 OD , 0.7 thick.

@@ep3tracktime873 Thanks for that. These seem like they'll do for now and if they do cause trouble they're easy enough to get to with the car in the air so simple replacement.
