POOR WHITE RURAL AREA . this video was recorded about a two months ago BEFORE Uniontown video. I don't see them crying about it. 🤷‍♂️💯 I uploaded one version than, this is part 2, highlight the worst sections.. again, I doubt anyone there will have an issue. Goes to show, its all about perspective. They are no better off, in fact some roads are still dirt. But, I don't hear them crying about a TH-cam video, th-cam.com/video/-7yUa4OeN5U/w-d-xo.html

If "rough" is the diagnosis, one must touch on the types of illnesses that lead to "rough".
Uniontown, AL is one of the places that the government uses to house things that wealthier communities won't accept, don't need, and are otherwise unbothered by.
The PCA Arrowhead Landfill, in Uniontown, takes all the poisonous waste that other places avoid. On top of that, a prison exists just four miles outside of the city limits, on Hwy 80.
A landfill and a prison, in close proximity, in a relatively small area... No financial voice. I live in a small town, where, they'd raise the dead even at the mention of building such a facility here.
You might say, well, they could protest; nevertheless, protesting is a proverbial double-edged sword. The residents don't want the landfill; but, the community need jobs. The residents don't want the prison; but, the community needs jobs.
It's like having a knot on your foot and saying, 'that's a really big knot', then, moving on to another conversation, because the knot prevents your oversized shoes from falling off.
Under different circumstances, the 2nd part of that recognition is to assess the knot. If you have healthcare insurance, you might have hope of doing something about said knot. Without healthcare insurance, you wait until your foot hurts and land in the ER or worst, amputation.
Many fight, in the beginning; if nothing improves, the crowds dwindle. Without expectations of hope and unity, losing fight isn't far behind.
What's the collective remedy for collective "rough"? I don't know the answer to that question; I do know that, the answer can only come from a collective fight, as there're many Uniontown, ALs in the USA, specifically, and, generally, the world.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your educated comment. There is NOTHING wrong with a LANDFILL. every city NEEDS one. The one in Prattville is blocks away from new homes going up.. the issue is. they BRING garbage from OTHER states.. that's a thing to take up with the GOVENOR of Alabama.. most STATES and even COUNTIES don't allow landfills to bring garbage from other places. this could easily be "fixed" with a county or state law.

It's not that a landfill is in UT that's not what the person is saying. But rather what's being put in the landfill. Chemicals and waste material from all over the country. Getting into soil and water. Prattville has A landfill but all landfill are not the same. And the landfill in Prattville could very well be for local or regional only. In UT they ship raw wast from as far as NYC. So Sir, if you want to do a video of the city please do your research. Go beyond statistic data. Get out of your comfort zone, get out of your car and meet people shake hands and talk to them. It's the only dignified thing to do.

For example, the median income my fall not because each house is making less money but because people move out to get better jobs or young people go off to college and live elsewhere. But they dont includ people who live just outside of the city limits who live and do business every day in Uniontown. Including area like Faunsdale and other rural areas close by for example. Shopping banking etc. Selma is decreasing, Montgomery is decreasing so is Detroit, California and NYC. Per capital UNT is in line with most major city's. Hi! I’m not here to spread hate or negativity, I’m only here to talk. I understand your first arrival coming to Uniontown wasn’t pleasant and lovely to your eyesight and I’m sorry for that, but there as been a lot of trauma behind the town on the reason it hasn’t been stable. There are lots of talented and employed people there as well that are trying to make it out or trying to reconstruct and remodel the town. But without the correct amount of funds, it’s difficult. There was also a storm not to long ago as to why some roof of buildings are covered. Also there were many jobs here but due to low funds (could be wrong) they were shut down. Many people that stay here work out of town. They are living happily.

    • @itsdaveed2339

(2/2) People aren’t forced to stay here, they just choose to live here. Despite how it may look, many people have families that they would like to live close by just to visit. It’s home to them. Last thing. I think calling them poor is a bit extreme (my opinion) I know statistics say that they are, but I think it’s a little extreme. The word “poor” is a strong and sensitive term. The people aren’t poor neither they are wealthy. Again. I get your point and respect your perspective on the town coming in for the first time. I hope I changed some of them that are a little misinterpreted though. I apologize in advance from the hate of some of the citizens. Like I said, some words can be sensitive to some people. @southernlife You say you're not talking down but you're doing it in a subtle negative preconceived manner. Once "bae" told you the demographics of the town, that should've been enough information for you to understand why the roads, buildings and schools look as if they're on the backend, when it comes to funding, but no,
You see individuals decently dressed or driving nice cars and you immediately point to priorities,? Could it be that maybe they need a nice car to get to a job? I mean you did allude to the lack of jobs there right? As far as attire, Are they supposed to dress mimicking potholes or the abandoned buildings? See that's what happens when you do drive by documentaries, you make assumptions based on your preconceptions. It's all good

YOU DO NOT NEED A "NICE CAR" to GET A JOB. that is ridiculous, I come from a poor background too and hear ALL TYPES of stupid excuses and explanations to justify stupid purchases. Those cars are GONNA depreciate in value QUICKLY.. real estates, in investment wont. So if your community wants to keep throwing away whatever funds they have that don't bother me, dont live there but it should bother YOU and those whose future is in this town. Instead of admiring someone's bank debt, maybe you could admire someone owning land or starting business more. I am not the one who lives in this town, yall are.. so yall the ones who gotta figure things out.. but i will start with this.. if you do get money and spend it on something stupid you might as well have not all it. YOU BY NO MEANS need a fancy car to get a JOB specially here in Alabama

@@leroyfikes8362 Speaking to you as Natve born ADOS African Descendant of USA slavery there is plan in the future to take over these poor Black communities rural and urban. The government wants to replace us with immigrants. We need to start coming together and looking out for ourselves. We need limited government help, stop asking White Liberals for help, vote out Politicians who don't look out for community. Do not follow behind so called Black leaders who are not looking out for our community. Some things we as a people need to do as correcting bad behaviour as our communities have fallen apart. I grew up one county over from here. There are other towns like it in the region.
There are a few reasons for the luxury cars. One is cultural. It is where they like to spend their money. Growing up it wasn't unusual to drive by shacks with Cadillacs or Lincolns parked outside.
The other cars are probably there because of the drug dealers, wealthy land owners, or people just passing through from city to city on Hwy 80. It is the main highway across the middle of the state.

My family grew up under the poverty line, with single source income family of 5. We owned everything we had, so it didn’t take much to live off of. Gotta look at it that way too. These people probably own most of what they have. See many banks around there?

It's the Black Belt. You need to study the history of this region. These people are descendants of chattel slavery. You have lots of towns like this in the south. The poverty dates back to slavery. A lot of their ancestors moved when slavery was over to the larger southern towns and cities or were part of the Black/ " Great migration" to the northeast, midwest or west. These are the people who stayed behind living in poverty, discrimination, poor education, lack of jobs or industries. This is why reparations for 40 million descendants of USA
chattel slavery should be considered by this government.

Ik you may feel that you’re doing the world a favor by shading light on the situation and even may believe that you had the right intentions on posting this video. But understanding the pretext and how the perception sounding in your voice. You basically drew up uniontown as this unkept disregarded forgotten about ghost town. Speaking down about the condition of the town is speaking about the character of the people of the town. You claim you wasn’t talking about the people of the town but the condition of it yet you sped asked Your sidekick about the income per house hold you spoke down on the house holds “making below average” you spoke on peoples “priorities”. You don’t find anything wrong with a complete outsider (probably not even from the state of Alabama, definitely can’t be or you would have a complete understanding on the situation and condition of the town) saying how this is “the roughest place you ever been too” is saying too say that uniontown is as worse as third world countries with a single dirtroad with no electricity. Seeing how you never mentioned how you came you discovering uniontown it’s safe to say to you’re hear off of hearsay or watching the news about recent events in the town and call yourself looking the town up and thought this was another place to add to your tearing down off towns. Using mlk or city officials as some pass to speak on others livelihood is sick. Are you going to take any of the proceeds from your videos to help this town out (probably not)? Not once did you offer to help this town out not once but rather was in a hurry to leave which basically tells how you no longer was feeling safe even heard you locking your door as it was approaching the projects so then that shows me your sole purpose was the shed ugliness of places instead of searching for what makes ppl stay here and what are some barriers that these towns are facing.
