This video now becomes the TH-cam Gold Standard for this Springsteen classic. Leaves the rest in the dust. Every riff and fill accurate to the original studio recording. Beautifully done mate! 👍👍
The drummer on the track was Ernest Carter, interesting fact: “Born to Run.” Ernest “Boom” Carter was there - on drums - during the protracted recording sessions, over six months in 1974 at 914 Sound Studios in Blauvelt, N.Y. Carter, along with bassist Garry Tallent, provided the hemi-powered underpinning to “Born to Run,” and Carter’s deftly played skip beats and drum shuffles are the accents of a masterpiece.”
There is a beauty in the simplicity of the opening Riff. That seems to represent young eyes skinting at the horizon. That makes the song for me, though the middle 8 is obviously brilliant.
Bruce...! Get out of this body...!!!!! Just like the song, this video is a MASTER PIECE...thank you falls short. Out of despair, Bruce wrote the gold standard of all rock albums as his last chance (he...they were good, but not good enough to enter the Olympus and get signed by a major record company and live his dream...at such a young age he was fully aware of the mountain he/they had to climb). When Bruce says "God it was hard" it is an understatement... he probably put his guts on the fret board thereby reaching a mastery that average people do not even suspect it can exit...probably felt comfortable up there after so much suffering and became a genius in everything he did ever since (if not the music, then it's the lyrics or the voice or the engagement)... I compare him with Columbus on that one...he explored an unknown world at that time...and we all take it for granted now. I disagree with the man very often but I kneel down before his brain and his guts... been lucky "growing up" with him.
What an enjoyable deconstruction of a classic rock song, including clearly defined guitar lessons. It certainly gives me more appreciation for Bruce Springsteen's innate talent.
You play it a bit different than me because I overcomplicated some parts. I really like the way you do it, so I'm gonna learn some new stuff today! Thanks for the lesson!
Thank you for sharing! Now I understand all parts. I thing I have still to work on is the middle part. Greetings from germany (not from Asbury Park :-)) Richard
My brother is the lead musician in the Bruce Springsteen tribute band called the Bootleg Boss in the UK and you look just like him when you're playing. Do all Brucey fans look like this when they're giving it laldy to a bit of the boss? 😁
Very well done. Not an easy one. Don't you ask yourself sometimes how Bruce was able to compose songs like this one in comparison to what he's done in the past 30 years ...
Hi Ray! Yes I play the bass on the backing tracks. Had fun with this one as didn’t realise how intricate the bass paths were. That’s a cool idea and definitely a possibility for the future!
A few years ago my buddy said “Hmmm, £300 quid a ticket to see Bruce at Wembley..!?” I said “Hell, I’d pay £300 quid just to see Max Weinberg at Wembley!!”
@@sjoerdrijpkema9197 The tabs are clearly displayed, most online guitar lessons don't have anywhere the level of tabs displayed on their videos as I do. As the transcription of the song and backing tracks take so long to make I can't really do chord diagrams as well. But I do go through the chords separately as well in the breakdown section of the video :). I have to sit quite far back so the tab can fit neatly on the bottom. I will get an editor in the future to make everything a bit slicker (plus maybe put chord diagrams as well when I explain them). Hope that makes sense! Thanks for tuning in!
Best lesson on the internet for this tune,, thanks !!

Yes it's genius golden ultra. Not many notes but works so well with the E, A and B in the background
Great lesson video, thanks!
The tabs definitely have helped me out!

Bravo, amazing lesson, thanks a lot for the hard work ✌
Thanks so much :) . Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Jean-Philippe!!!! Yes the early gruelling days of being in a band before making it don’t get talked about enough!
You and your lessons are just so damn amazing. I agree, this is the gold standard for learning Bruce. Happy Christmas my friend.
Thanks so much Larry :) Glad you're enjoying the videos. Merry Xmas to you also :)

Fantastic job on the song and on nailing the tone too
Thanks Anthony!
Great work on this ! The chord structures are genius on this song
Thanks Limonene 9! Yes it’s a classic and some unusual changes!
great explanation of the rhythm parts!
a special course about rhythm guitar patterns in rock would be great!
Thanks Luca :)
I’d check out my other channel for that. I’ve got a series on strumming patterns.
Great

Hi Cosmin! Glad you enjoyed it! I play it slightly differently in my band as I sing as well. Wanted to get as close to the record as I could!
great job

@@BruceGuitar Same here. Countless listens, and it still gets my blood pumping. Might be the best rock song of all time, in my opinion.

The chord structure of that middle 8 is the pinnacle of Bruce’s “complex” composition style. Not sure he ever really did anything so ornate again.
I agree it is a magnificent Middle 8 and completely different from the rest of the song. The way it builds at the end as well.

Ah cool nice! Haha I’m normally concentrating so hard when I do the run throughs so I don’t have to do many takes 😂
@@BruceGuitar 🤓👍
your videos are fantastic! love the play through at the beginning, so helpful. One point: F# root and 5th + E is more like F#7, not add 9, ya?
Glad you enjoyed it! Oops yes you’re right there. Dunno what I was thinking there!
Very well done. Not an easy one. Don't you ask yourself sometimes how Bruce was able to compose songs like this one in comparison to what he's done in the past 30 years ...
Thanks Vince! Yes they were a lot more complex in the earlier years. Think he likes the pop songwriting style a lot
Hi, do you play the bass on the backing track as well? Have you considered 'Gary Tallent bass lessons' Thanks
