    We get $2 each in store credit for the ink cartridges at Staples. You can return up to 20 per month so it's good for getting office supplies and ink.

      Staples around me will only do that if we buy cartridges from them.

    Printers are another Item that the scrap yards here in Wisconsin, USA charge us to take... I've taken many apart, there are quite a few roller shafts in them and if you save the separate you can get a better price for them than shred prices. Like #1 prepared steel or what ever your yard calls it.

    Thank you very much for the information. I have one here, i will try to sell it whole as unchecked (its a small HP Office Jet) and if that not works i bring it in as is, don't bother with it any further. But, that is just me and not everyone and it will surely not going to the landfill.
    Yours truly

      Thanks for the comment. Good luck with selling it, but glad to hear either way it will not end up in the landfill.

    When I ran steel every week I would just cut cord and send it as light iron . My yard said as long as I dont bring lots at the same time .

    Thanks for the great videos. I often hear you say things like 'this will go into my steel bin', or 'that will go into my aluminum bin.' I'm new to scrapping, and am still trying to figure out how to best organize different metals separately from each other. Would you be open to showing how you organize and store your different metals between scrap yard runs if you haven't already done so?

      Hey Bradley, not Tin Man here, but until you get a better answer, in case you don't already know, you can hit any ferrous (containing iron, usually but not always magnetic) metal with an angle grinder and it will spark. Aluminum will not. A magnet can't always tell the difference between ferrous and non-ferrous, but the angle grinder can.

    My question is - the Jack's you plug into components some of them are gold color and I want to know if some of them are actually gold plated or is it brass

    Tucson here. Too much plastic for our yard. Plus it has glass. T the only one I took apart was a huge old stand up one it was mostly steel with a heavy frame.

    Its a shame there's no $ value with the plastics from these printers

    You missed one other spot that has gold. On the ink cartridges you showed a tiny circuit board with gold contacts. What do those connect too? Look inside the cartridge holder you will see another circuit board or mylar as wide as all the cartridges just covered in spots of gold. It does take a lot of work to remove the but it literally doubles the amount of gold you can get.

      I was going to bring this up too. I've taken many printers apart and I've seen the gold that those ink tank connect to. It is considerable.

    Is there no silver contacts or Mylar behind the buttons of the control panel?

    • @jamesfirth1280
      @jamesfirth1280 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      small silver contact buttons, but not enough to have to want to take apart the plastic casing

    Hi there. I'm just wondering if you have tried to extract gold yet from you gold collection?

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, want to have a very large pile before so I turn it into a bullion.

    • @Tlctomslifecoaching
      @Tlctomslifecoaching 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TinManScrapper ok and just out of interest what would your method be to extract the gold? I'm only asking these questions because I do scrapping myself and recently got into micro scrapping so I'm just intrigued as to how others would extract gold.

    This printer don't have a copper motor or a brick power supply inside? Btw I'm just asking about goodies inside...

      A few small ones that I showed, but not really big in a printer.
