    With the 49 gal build, I would only travel with 10 gal of water and fill up the rest once I'm near my off grid destination. Driving long distance with all that additional weight can wear out the rear suspension

    Excellent discussion about this topic. Thoughtful and clear visuals of the products. Thanks so much! Will be referring to this again when I build mine.

    Came to the same conclusion for our self build. Although we only have the 148 Transit we picked the 32 gallon over the wheel tank (Sprinter tank fits the Transit too) since we have a shower. Very quick shower for both of us uses 5 gallons a day alone.

      Hi. Thank you for sharing. Can you give me an idea what a quick shower is.. Ish

    • @billnalen
      @billnalen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dianeibsen5994 maybe 3-5 minutes each, but our shower can restrict flow and we turn the water off when soaping up.

    Would you have any suggestions for an over the wheel well tank for a 148"Transit HD Ext. Dual Rear Wheels with at least 32 Gallons?

    What a great video with lots of information to make a decision on how much freshwater to store on board. The tanks probably need to be empty on a winter trip, especially the ones under the vehicle and the waist.

    Can you talk about heating the tanks and pipes for winter?

  • @brianbass4971
    @brianbass4971 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really like the NW Conversions tanks! Two questions: 1) Is there an easy option to heat an under body tank for winter use to prevent freezing? 2) In a multi tank setup, like the 170 you showed, how do you switch between tanks?

      I know you can get tank heaters,i see those on alot of Vans.

    You did not specify what vans would the spare tire tank fit... I have 2017 Ford Transit 148. Is the tank universal fit?

    6:43 it's a real shame they didn't design those to fit more snugly against the wheel well. There's a lot of extra space between the tank and well. Probably still your best option for inside tanks, but man that space is so valuable especially in a 144.

    Oh and seeing all that blue power in the background makes me regret buying the Renogy batteries since the rest of our system is all Victron.

      You could always paint it blue or cover in blue painters tape if it makes you feel better.

    Did you have to take out the fuel tank to install the exterior water tank? The one behind the driver seat under the van

    Great content and very helpful, but of course it leads to more questions. How do you fill with fresh water with the side under mount tank with brackets? Do you use the 1/2” access holes ? It’s great to work with you guys. I have my shower on order!!

    Basically, you presented good info. And there are basically people who have different opinions. Vans basically are a big expense, so you basically have to watch what you basically spend. Do you basically get it?

  • @justinmccoy7167
    @justinmccoy7167 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please use the term "ports" from now on. "Penetrations" triggers me.
