"Grigori is the worst dragon in any RPG game, period." Me: "if you would face me, seek me out and I shall allow it. But head the zealot's lesson well-- when the weak court death, they shall find it."
Grigori is literally one of the most interesting dragons, he's not one-dimensional, his actions aren't of his own will but he's accepted his role as a great destroyer.
My hot take is that your main pawn should have been your "beloved", or rather the person the dragon chose to kidnap, and if you had chosen to stand down it would have removed your pawn from the game
My hot take is that you don't need the absolute best in-slot gear to beat Bitterblack Isle, nor do you need to hard minmax. On hard mode, i started at lv60 Magick Archer after playing roughly 50 of those levels as Sorcerer maxed out for the magick damage increasing augment. Heck, until I got to the Dark Bishop, my Dragon's Breath Magick Bow wasn't even upgraded, but that fight Dragonforged the weapon, which made it completely smooth swimming unless Death himself turned up and forced me to run like a scared child. Daimon was the only fight I truly struggled with, but after learning his attacks I finally managed to defeat him. In the end I was about lv93, minmaxing is a myth, best in-slot gear is a joke.
None of these are hot takes, they're masterworks all. The game is such a mess of good, great, and okay mechanics that after all these years we're still captivated by it
7:19-7:26 that's your opinion, mate. me? Grigori's one of the best RPG dragons ever, but i have a preference for the more "simplistic and traditional".
First time around, I actually liked the cinematic introduction to the fight, and the subsequent boss fight. I hadn't explored the world enough to meet the Drakes, so it was my first dragon fight in that game, and it was AWESOME!
Yeah, tbh I really like that you can go through the game and just kind of miss the story if you don't actively go look for it (to an extent of course). It makes it feel like the world really does goes on without you and it simultaneously gives you a lot of agency. It's a bit confusing on your first playthrough because you don't expect it, but I think it's neat :)
Idk if it's a hot take but more of a theory. I actually suspect Daimon was turning into a corrupted dragon or another Ur Dragon to be precise. Arisen that killed the dragon but failed to kill/become Seneschal, usually are transformed into the new dragon, but since he refused to do any of it, since he ignored it all, becoming hateful and spitefilled, swearing to break the endless cycle, I think he was driven mad, and corrupted because of his refusal to make any choice, he is experiencing small twisted results from several choices. Slowly taking his form and turning him into true corruption itself, which is what I feel the Ur Dragon kind of is, it's a dragon so twisted it exists outside the cycle, not quite breaking it, but in the same direction of what Daimon wanted. I truly don't think his 2nd form would have been the last, I think the dragons headand then neck would have continued to form out of his torso, his body would keep growing, his arms and legs would slowly shift downward putting him on all 4 legs, and he would ultimately become another Ur Dragon. I think only one Ur Dragon currently exists because the circumstances have to be so negative and mind shattering to push an Arisen into that path.
Consider this my uber hot take as a man who didn't play Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen lol. After seeing the trailer for DD2 multiple times, I do have an inkling that the physics of DD2 will be a lot more restrictive and animation dependent and what I have seen of DD1 makes me ponder this question.
"Grigori is worst dragon" Dude, Deathwing is a LOSER! a total loser. same for Alduin. Bahamut and Grigori are gigachads. although theres a LOT of versions of bahamut and many of them arent REALLY dragons but gods that look like dragons.

@@juicypineapple6995 I personally love it but I do think you have very valid points too, enemies are definitely too spongey and it leans more towards being hard for the sake of it rather than an especially fair challenge
Hmmm that nuclear hot take about vocations seems real familiar. Anyway I'm gonna go Godsbane myself after hearing the implication that I'm a Mystic Knight main.
Although Warden, Conqueror, and Valkyrie were my favorite classes to play as back when I used to play For Honor, Peacekeeper definitely had the style and pizazz. And yeah, I don't entirely hate reverse grip, love me a meaty death stab with reverse grip, but it would be nice if more games had rogues switch how they held it when doing attacks that made the most sense for each grip style. Also loooool good ol' school Bioware janky animations, you gotta love it XD
I have had someone tell me that the AI for the pawns IS bad based on the 5 seconds clip of raw footage that the dogma team posted on twitter, is the latest one so its easy to find, just before the medusa snakeday post, idk what the guy smoked but I want some of that shit
Gonna give some takes. If they're not hot takes, they're at least scalding criticism. I love the damn game, but it felt like everything good it did, it had to introduce some annoying aspect to that good thing. Large, fun world to explore. But no means of faster travel than running. No horse or an equivalent. Good luck getting to anywhere. No separate MP stat, just stamina for magic and running. Streamlines things in a good way. But it also means if you want faster travel, you're going into battles scuffed. Extremely fun classes. But the stats they level up with are out of your control. Many of those classes getting stats they don't want. World is fun to explore and a lot of loot to find. But inventory management is hell. Carrying like 10 items will overencumber you. So many consumables that basically do the same thing but take up extra inventory space and weigh you down. The above point especially true if you're playing a melee class and want elemental weapons with you. I'll even criticize the story the same way. Extremely good presentation and atmosphere. It sucks you in immediately. But what is being presented is often rushed, with shallow characters that had a total of 10 lines of dialogue before they never appear again, and nonsensical events. Beat Grigori in one of the best encounters ever? You're treated like the villain. What's the message? "When attacked by a dragon, don't try to take your heart back, or you might be framed" or something? Dragon's Dogma has a lot of good. But for every 2 steps it takes forward, it takes one back.
I'll explain the problem with warrior. Same problem with fighter but a bit worse. Anything that flies is going to make your life MISERABLE. no exceptions. If its not flying and agile, warrior is a bulldozer of immortal death. as soon as you find a bird, you are a weak loser who cant even touch it.
2nd comment, there are also quick slots on PC. Just go into your inventory and hover over whatever it is you want to quick slot and then press the one, two, three or four key. I always have health on one, stamina on two, lantern on three and panacea on four.
Grigori is the worst dragon?? Dude steals our heart then recites latin or some such to us.....David Lodge as his VA??? Love it! I do have the hot take that our pawn should have been our beloved making the fact they turn into us even more of a........WHAT? moment! Hollup, Quina's a real one. Can't fight worth a lick but managed to sneak by bandits and wolves to enter a dangerous woods area full of even more monsters, merely holding out hope that she can find a cure for YOU. She then takes a shot at learning all she can in ogre-infested woods by joining the Abbey. She dedicated herself to the Arisen, as much as any pawn.
Grigori being the worst dragon in any RPG? He's actually the first dragon boss that stuck with me throughout the years. Alduin could feast in Sovengarde to the end of time and still wouldn't come close to the power Grigori has.
I know I'm late to this but reading through the comments I feel like a lot of people who are against Grigori are only against him because of the fight and compare him to what they consider superior fights. I think Grigoris appeal isn't mechanical but his story and personality. There is depth to him that you don't find in just a fight.
Warrior only has three skills because you'll only ever use the one with i-frames. Also Inquisition dragons are better than Origins dragons. Probably because Varric is there, everyone wants to be their best around Varric.
To touch on warrior, I can't stand that there is no form of blocking or perrying... I'm ok with what little skills, but for gods sake, blocking with your face IS NOT BLOCKING!!
Give Exodus Slash a try - it grants invuln frames and the quick startup lets you reliably avoid damage entirely if you time it well enough during attacks.
@@ThiefofCrystals True, it's the Warrior only defense. I've been no life-ing this game since its release. I now only use Warrior for the clout skill and its life boost for other classes.
