I have a homebrew nomad pack called the Toasties, led by Joe Toasty. They rehabilitate and train Nomads that can’t function in a regular nomad pack in order to keep them from fully becoming Raffen Shiv.
Basically, some people run off to be Nomads or are forced into situations where they need to be, but don’t adapt properly to the environment due to addictions or disabilities. They only survive by “train-hopping” nomad caravans, and occasionally stealing from them. Many Nomad packs punish them harshly, but others see them as more of an annoyance. Like drunk hobos trying to shoplift a small amount of food from a gas station.
Joe Toasty, who was raised by the Jodes after living on the streets of Tulsa, decided to create a pack exclusively to keep these people from spiraling further to the point of joining any of the real fucked up guys out there in the Badlands. At the beginning, when he was 19, he mainly recruited people that were fairly close in age to him at the time. As his pack grew and as he got older, he began to get more comfortable with inviting older people and some people of his pack started having kids. He is about to turn 30 in August, himself. Despite this, a good portion of his pack is still college-aged.
Members of his pack are taught trades, and they come into different cities to temporarily fill positions that might be understaffed. Members that are more trustworthy may also be trained to work in low level medical positions like as Pharmacy Techs or traveling Medtechs.

Brewed on a Biker Nomad Group called the "Native Crows".
    Heavily inspired by SAMCRO.
I couldn't resist making a classic Biker MC in the dark future!

The historian/archivist nomad archetype from that sourcebook you mentioned is one of my favorites, especially considering the data crash: they have a _bespoke library_ floating around somewhere which must be protected from wild gonks at all costs! 🤭 I also feel like the city nomads could have a base of operations in some type of industrial or infrastructure facility which is completely overlooked/neglected by society: some municipal annex which no extant politician, corp, gang, or otherwise thinks about. Similar to the library (and in later seasons the abandoned subway station) in _Person of Interest._

Nice, thanks for the recap! The nomad in my group is a former sea nomad, used to smuggle stuff on a dangerous sea where travel is risky since the war because of the mines and all that.

Great video as always! In our campaign the party Nomad has family who have taken over a bunch of abandoned small airfields/airbases all over Southern California, slowly acquiring more and more older gyros, aircraft and other hardware to use for establishing trade routes.

As a modern motorcycle nomad I realized that the ideology and philosophy of nomads is definitely a timeless concept. My kind of people are like this. No ties to anyone or anything but the folks and places that they have built real connections with. "trust no one" and "death before dishonor" are guidelines that we live by, not just popular phrasing.

I think The Soldiers are a bit silly. Like, I can totally see them bringing the smaller items, but there is no way they're going to keep anything that costs more than a million dollars operating for a long time; parts are too rare and too tightly controlled. Plus, the fuel is ridiculous. Unless you are the US government, there is no fueling that kind of war machine.
