    Awesome work. I shared this with my wife who's only just taken up playing tennis and she loved it!

    One thing I took away from this is how balanced Simona is. Such sturdy legs but lightweight too. She seems to almost float around the court. When waiting for the shot in the first frame her back is hardly bent at all. Completely poised. A great athlete.

    This is an excellent analysis! Very helpful to show players that there are minor differences but major similarities. I will use this and subscribe.
    THANK YOU!!!

    We struggle with my son starting too low below the ball causing long deep forehands. Great video.

    Thanks for your great analysis coach Capestany.
    I'd like to ask one question and this is a recreational-level question.
    Do you think that many tennis forehand lessons forget to point out the importance of the movement of the non-racquet arm? Is it true that the non-racquet arm MUST move back and out of the way of the swing to allow the body to rotate into the swing for power.
    If the non-racquet arm stays down, it blocks the body from rotating into the shot and completing the body's weight transfer into the shot. This lack of weight transfer makes the shot weaker with less force into the shot. It is like the body fighting against the body.
    I think it's not necessary to jerk the non-racquet elbow backward with a fast, violent motion. The player just needs to move it up and out of the way to open up the chest to face the opponent’s side of the court and let the racquet arm swing through, without obstruction, to strike the ball, in the "box", just in front of the body on their right hand side.
    If you watch Halep, her left elbow goes straight back and out of the way so her chest can open up toward her opponent’s court to allow her right arm to swing the racquet through to meet the ball in the box, just in front of her body.
    If you watch Azarenka, her left arm goes down, but then her left elbow moves back and out of the way so her chest can open up toward her opponent’s court to allow her right arm to swing the racquet through to meet the ball in the box, just in front of her body.
    What do you think?

    Great analysis! How does this differ from classic style? If you were to compare their strokes to Chris Evert, Tracy Austin, Rod Laver or Arthur Ashe what would the difference be?

    Interesting to me how in step 6 they finish with their weight on different feet

    Great analysis. Similar to how I hit a forehand. The other piece is hitting with open or closed stance. Either or, the technique should be the same. Your note on extension is valid. We tend to push the ball when we start to choke. I always on follow through would have butt of the racquet facing the net. I like the look of Halep. Now if she can only change her backhand to become single handed and mimic Henin, she could become one of the finest players of all time.

    Not much difference, the height of the ball and player's height affects adjustment preparation.

  • @pjcdm
    @pjcdm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The racket drop is determined b the height of the ball (knee bent too). Balls are high over the net here. They are hitting flat. Not all balls must be spin.

    Nice analysis. The men have a deeper drop generally. Is that a muscularity issue or just what women are taught?

    • @Nurg1982
      @Nurg1982 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what? they all use the same balls. Women are just taught different than men, as there is this believe that the heavier backswing will create more power for them.

    You people can't copy their form because most of you don't understand the take back depending on the grips that they hold because every form is different because of the grip.

  • @jazz19101

    Their rackets are on edge when they take them back. All WTA players are like this. Federer is one of the few that doesn't yet a million coaches tell you to hit like Fed which is just absurd.
