It's good to see you back, and even better to see some love for my favorite class! I would say that summoner AC is actually very high if you play it right. If you can spare 2 evolution points, using the Aspect feature at level 10 allows for a whopping +4 natural AC from the natural armor evolution. Barkskin scales unfairly fast, and buying a lesser extend rod (or two) gets you as much as an extra +5 at 12th level with a duration that lasts most dungeons. Using that, and the usual Ring of Protection and a some enchantments on my armor means my 12 dex chain shirt wearing summoner is still super hard to hit.
Love 1e. More of that please. However the spell Evolutions are unfortunately deeply suboptimal. You put multiple feats in there and chose a race that gives a couple extra evolution points. And in return you get what? 1 fireball, 1lightning bolt, 3 burning hands. That's not enough to make a build like that worth it, where you build specifically to strengthen your eidolon. Using summons can be fun if your table is okay with how much it can slow down combat with multiples of them. But if you want to do that just go master summoner instead.
After like 10 years i manager to play this class, which is imho the only reason to play pf1. Here Is my build: Base dices: 18-16-14-12-10-10 Distribution: 10-10-12-16-14-18 Final: 7-7-11-18-18-18 Summoner, syntetist Dwarf, Old (-3 physical +2 mental base stats) skill monkey racial traits Skill monkey traits Feat: expanded arcana Future feats: steel soul, extra Evolution (multiple) Eidolon: quadruped always Evolutions: claws, improved natural armor, pounce Future evolutions: the idea Is getting an enourmus quadruped, centaur-like, with wings, horn and ultratanky, and personalize him with fancy fashion (basic idea Is gundam white base). Spells are buffs to self and party, and skill monkey or recoinassance ones. You will have lots of fun, and your master will love you because you speak alot and mostly use only your beautiful fancy eidolon. Summon Monsters Is only used when you cant use your eidolon.
Arcane spell casters have no restrictions on summon monster. A divine spell caster like a cleric can't summon monster of an alignment opposing the clerics deity. As an example summoning an imp would be an evil aligned spell because imps are evil. It's explained in the core rule book under cleric spell casting and the summon monster spell.
@@d6damage93 There are many reasons. It clouds up fights and the battlefield. It likely increases combat time. On later levels it brings significant balance problems due to builds like angel summoners. On early levels diehard for example can be really difficult to handle. I would only allow this with with experienced groups and dms. And I would 100% require the unchained summoner over the vanilla one.

God I hate this class as gm
It can be frustrating because it's basically two characters in one.
