Bassplayer Patrick died at the age of 24 'cause of heart failure, while having a criminal record and being addicted to drugs. Drummer Junior is an institution nowadays suffering mental problems. Singer Kelvin suffered major mental problems too. Patrick's criminal record and drug addiction as well as Junior's and Kelvin's mental problems were caused by the immense pressure that was on them during Musical Youth's succesful period and by the problems they faced after the success vanished relatively quick. Plus they got engaged in a financial dispute over the royalties of their biggest selling hit 'Pass the dutchie' (see www.theguardian.com/music/2012/mar/23/musical-youth-legal-battle-pass-the-dutchie). Not sure if you can call that 'making the most of it'...
They achieved more than you . Young people in the limelight often end up with problems like these. Have compassion.

The blue print was done by Desmond Dekker and the Israelites in the late 60s, the boys just re did the song, got both versions.

i was in prison with the little guy who is singing. when he came in he was a mess, he was a junkie. he was in for robbing cars , he said they done it for fun, drive to another town and leave there own car there and steal a car and drive back. they had so much money and fame at a young age that it done there heads in, its said. There records never get old to me and it marks a real happy time in my life. SO ONE SHOT MUSICAL YOUTH, BIG UP .
