Don't know if this is just a joke but it's because Fume Knight is Velstadt's brother and they pretty much hate eachother or Fume Knight is mad that you killed his brother.

I personally find that the Fume Knight's phase 2 is easier to dodge, so I always fight him with Velstadt's helm equipped.
I used to feel like that, and used the trick. But now that I’ve got his first phase patterns down, I like both phases. Plus, he can’t 1-shot you in phase 1.
He has like 3-5 attacks in first phase

well I personally find it easier to dodge as I can't predict that little straight sword but I can roll through those design orbs in the giant sword so

It could mean that even now when Ivory King is the shadow of himself he still fights the cursed fire
I imagine he wanted to prove indisputably that the trick was legit.
lmao when he kept walking without a single cut in sight I was like "Ok, so we're really stretching for that ad revenue, huh." but I actually had no idea there was that path between the two areas at 2:30 so I did learn something new.
@@buttersverified6290 How did you get out of that area then? Without the path you would need to have opened the door on the other side by doing a tricky jump, unlocking a bonfire, or homeward to the last one.

That bit of the burnt ivory king’s words that you couldn’t make out is actually another secret bit of lore! He’s clearly saying “Took” confirming the identity of the burnt ivory king is actually Gandalf.

The Burn Ivory King saying "DIE" mostly when he does a lunge attack kinda reminds me of Vergil in DMC3 saying the same thing aftet a similar attack

MisterPuck85 Maybe just he sees you as a real threat. Also, if a rematch happened after Raime became the Fume Knight the Royal Aegis risked getting his own "Ding-dong stick" up his ass.
I can even depict it. Some time in some alternate reality Vendrick hears about the "Reality and space warping and stuff", so he sends a squad of Dragonriders to "investigate". Should I say that the "investigation" didn't happen as it was expected at all? All that returned was but one severely maimed Dragonrider, who was nothing, but on his death's door. He told the king about the monstrocities that the Abbyss has created (Lava-spitting giants and other stuff). He told Vendrick how they, essentially fought their way down this accursed tower. He then tells him about the monstrocity that awaited them down below. He tells the king how Raime tore through the ranks of Dragonriders as if they were made of paper. Then, with his dying breath, he passes the king the words of Fume Knight: "Bring. Me. Velstadt! I want a rematch!" So after some arguing Nashandra sends Velstadt to the tower, thinking that he was able to bring Raime to his knees once, thus he can do it again.
Raime is already waiting for Velstadt behind the fume door. He points his charged sword at him, Darth Revan-style.
Raime: "Round Two. Asshole!"
He charges at Royal Aegis, makes a jump for several meters and then clashes his sword against the maul of Velstadt. His adversary blocks the
attack with the handle, more acting on instinct, rather than seeing it. The greatsword, infused with dark fire starts melting through.
Raime: "I. Am. Raime! Proud knight of Nadalia!"
Velsadt (still blocking, somehow): "Don't you see through it? She is the spawn of Abyss! She's turned you into a monster!"
Raime (seemingly gaining conciousness, replies with a mocking voice): "Oh. Really? Remember the time I told you the same about Nashandra? What did you all do? You laughed at me, - (he starts overpowering Vestadt, pushing him back) - frowned upon me, - (he launches a series of furious strikes) - and took everything from me!"
Velstadt (almost bending his knees): "I am sorry Raime! But I don't see the Queen as a monster, you describe!"
Raime (loosing his temper again): "Blind.- (he grabs Velstadt with his free hand by the neck) - ARROGANT FOOL! - (he roars, throwing him to the end of the room) - You will pay for your stupidity with your life and the lives of all the citizens, you vowed to protect!!" - (Fume knight strikes Velstadt a second after he got up from the floor with an estus-punishing thrust)
Velstadt (feeling the power of the blow, he barely managed to block again): "Snap out of it! You were the Royal Aegis! All but equal to me! You still remember the old times! You can still be brought back!"
Raime (his voice is now calm and even somewhat pitiful): "I am sorry, old friend, - (he seemingly ceases to attack Vestadt, even giving him some time to rise) - but... BUT THAT OLD RAIME IS DEAD! - (he gives Vestadt the three-hit combo, ending it with his sword sweep), - YOU KILLED HIM AT OUR LAST DUEL! (Velstadt is lying on the floor, covered with cinders, his golden armor tarnished and his maul broken in two)
Velstadt (Raises his head to look at Raime)
Raime (His voice roaring like the Fire itself): "There is only Fume Knight now. (He plunges his sword into lying Velstadt and releases his dark fireballs)."
Ray is so op he's just using souls for ammo

2:30 OMG after 250+ hours of gameplay, I never knew there is a path between these two areas 😵
The way he took , you just walk through the hole. But it’s possible to traverse the reverse way, by jumping through the hole. Slightly trick jump, but totally doable.
Same, I had always thought that it was weird that the last bonfire in the area, and the one you need to use a Bonfire Ascetic on to respawn Freja, was a dead end. Turns out I was just blind.

I see people pointing that out and I just wonder... HOW? You can see it from Orniphex's room! How did you guys even leave that place? Did you warp from there every damn time to the Cathedral's bonfire?

You forgot one, if you throw corrosive urnes or however you say it in english while he's walking around you can break Vendrik's armour and do way more damage to him
Wuuuuut?!? I thought that urns in PvE only worked on npc invaders rings.
Ivory King also says "Git Good" on PS4 every time he kills me.. maybe is just for my version?

Here's another secret that I found. If you can keep the loyce knight alive during the fight with ivory king he will hop down with you if you decide to go down a second time making grinding loyce souls much easier
But its limited
Neat! My method is to not kill IK, just jump down w/full 4 Loyce squad and 2 summons, kill until IK appears. Then black crystal away the summons, and feather out. Rinse and repeat.
@@christophercollins3632 Won't the knights die closing the portals? That means they won't help you from the 2nd time onwards, no?
@@LuizAlexPhoenix they don’t die permanently, so my method is safe. And effective. In 2 1/2 hours, using all the item discovery gear, you’ll farm the 50 you need. Killing IK first will make farming much longer.
My point is you can hear the Ivory King clearly saying "FLY!" as he dashes to you and perform a upward strike that'll probably knock up the player if it lands successfully
It's a horizontal strike, not vertical. He clearly slashes from right to left.
Fly also means "run away"
It's neither totally vertical nor horizontal, but it's certainly an attack that sends you flying, you can see on the 9:53 mark
I don't see how "run away" fits his dialogue (even as a meaning, not a said word) to me he'sdefinitely saying "fly"
It makes so much more sense for him to be saying "die" though, as he is trying to kill you.

The Climax Hex he used for Freja consumes all souls on hand, but needs at least 5k souls on hand to be at full power. Good ol’ Ray is so badass, he’s munching down Soul of a Great Hero, for a 20k refill to power his Climax. He only needs a Soul of a Brave Warrior, for the exact needed 5k refill. So kids; don’t try this at home...stick with Soul of a Brave Warrior. Only professionals can crush a Soul of a Great Hero.
I tried the throne watcher cheese and I got extremely lucky in that she decided to do that one stack that she follows up with the backflip so I got to watcher just cartwheel herself into the void

I've always thought that the burnt ivory king says these lines:

I'm so mad about that angel boss, the theme and those words, all in one hell of a great boss, it is all a well done master piece.

The biggest secret for me was that Hollow Skin mask!! I've played these games a zillion times, and when I saw it as you were putting on Velstadt's helm, I was like, "WTF?!" Had to look it up after. It HAS been awhile; I might have to start a new run ^_^

When he runs at you, sword dragging on the ground, I think he’s saying “fly” since that attack would send you *flying* back from the momentum of the swing.
Fly can also mean to flee
I believe the he is telling the player to flee and escape
Raime's death cry actually sounds very haunting.. he must have been under a lot of torment :(
ive had vendrick throw shit at me, and killed the spider twice so i guess ive played DS2 a bit
I've never seen Freya appear on that ledge before. I was kinda baffled when I saw that.

Ivory King's voice is taken from some sample library. I've heard it used as vocal samples several times in music. You can hear it in Vincent de Moor - Worlds of Doubt, as well as Blood Falcon's theme in F-Zero GX.

Ring of Whispers allows you to talk to Manscorpion Tark in Shaded Ruins. And hear if any enemies are within a certain radius.

I have good memories of Vendrick, the best is when I entered the arena and it turned out that I beat him without even seeing him.

well I think the ivory King is saying torment for one of the words you couldn't make out because that's what I kept hearing any time he muttered it
To me the Ivory King's line sounds more like "fly". Which would fit as he always says it when he dashes at you, and says "destroy" whenever he starts the AoE attack.
Kinda like all the attention ds2 is getting as of late

In Dragon shine you cancel the agro on dragon knights after take the egg. So you can summon phantons without the gank running after you.
With Ivory King I’m hearing “Die” and “Destroy ??? fire” and I think in the hard to hear parts I’m hearing “Don’t” or “No” but I might not be hearing it right.
Also, with Velstadt's helmet, Raime's scream sounds with more rage.
Ivory King is saying "FIRE!... TORMENT!... DESTROY... IT..."

I always tought that the Ivory King's "Die!" was actually a shortened and distorted "Oleee!" , like the cheerings used by crowds during Bullfights in Spain/Mexico. He in fact sounds like a crowd himself

He means flee, he's telling you to run away.
He also says "Destroy the fire" referring to the flame that consumed him

Omg I need to know what kind of combination of things you used to kill fume knight so easily. It took me 30 minutes of chipping his hp down, and after two years of trying. I finally killed him. (I'm not a good gamer 😅)
i finished the entire game and all bosses without encountering the spider on the bridge or whatever that place is, is that weird or do i encounter it on ng+ also that rare opening attack, everytime i enter the boss fight i get more surprised, jump attack, ranged attack, curses...
But that lighting Rapier destroys ! How does it do so much damage ? Do you have the ring ?
