There’s a reason that things Bill Walsh was teaching 40-50 years ago are still being taught today. Was so far ahead of everyone else.

Unfortunately the reality is not enough people care... Also: Many people think "This is how you coach white people.... it's time for white coaches or for football to cater to BLACK TALENT".
EVEN in the NFL, teams and coaches are being pressured by fans etc to "cater or design plays for your talent, not force your talent to do what the coach says"
It's very hard to do what Joe did - so much so that Steve Young had a hard time at first and it took YEARS for him to be really good at it.
So many fans etc today don't have that PATIENCE. They want results immediately - and if you don't let them just RUN with a running QB, they'll say "Why are we GIVING UP Yards when the QB can just run and get 5 or 10 yards every time?!!!"
Answer: "BECAUSE if you play that way, the QB WON"T be your QB for very long. He'll be on IR."
Look at all the starting QBs down with injury this year: Burrow, Watson, Rodgers, etc etc.

The GOAT...This man changed the game of football and coaching. He should've had a minimum of 4 SB Rings...that '89 team he built . IMO the greatest 49ers team of All-Time

Now you just have to adjust to the shotgun. 3 step slant is crossover plant and throw. Quick 5 step out is now quick 3 and throw. Intermediate routes are 3 big and a hitch.

Fascinating to see how the rivalry with Dallas would have unfolded with Walsh at the helm.

This system of teaching revolutionized throwing the football and put defenses in trouble. The timing just changed everything. You can’t underestimate the contributions of this coaching.

The title is incorrect. It's THE ART AND MAGIC OF QUARTERBACKING BY BILL WALSH. It's one of the DVD extras from San Francisco 49ers: The Complete History.

Those late 80s 49ers team would destroy any team today and it wouldn't be close they had to many weapons and use them all at the same time they can pass and run to keep the defense off-balance also smart rathman would have put up monster numbers today
