Unfortunately the reality is not enough people care... Also: Many people think "This is how you coach white people.... it's time for white coaches or for football to cater to BLACK TALENT". EVEN in the NFL, teams and coaches are being pressured by fans etc to "cater or design plays for your talent, not force your talent to do what the coach says" It's very hard to do what Joe did - so much so that Steve Young had a hard time at first and it took YEARS for him to be really good at it. So many fans etc today don't have that PATIENCE. They want results immediately - and if you don't let them just RUN with a running QB, they'll say "Why are we GIVING UP Yards when the QB can just run and get 5 or 10 yards every time?!!!" Answer: "BECAUSE if you play that way, the QB WON"T be your QB for very long. He'll be on IR." Look at all the starting QBs down with injury this year: Burrow, Watson, Rodgers, etc etc.
Now you just have to adjust to the shotgun. 3 step slant is crossover plant and throw. Quick 5 step out is now quick 3 and throw. Intermediate routes are 3 big and a hitch.
I ain't a 49ers fan, BUT No Disrespect Mr. Walsh Was 10 Years Ahead Of Time From ALL Coaches... Gotta Love That Man, R.I.P Thank You For Exiting Football Games 😅😅😅😅😅
The GOAT...This man changed the game of football and coaching. He should've had a minimum of 4 SB Rings...that '89 team he built . IMO the greatest 49ers team of All-Time
I'm not sure if Steve Young was really a left handed thrower but him and Joe really competed with each other. Deep balls are hard and of course the clock and knowing the downs. Reading defenses but people make adjustments
The title is incorrect. It's THE ART AND MAGIC OF QUARTERBACKING BY BILL WALSH. It's one of the DVD extras from San Francisco 49ers: The Complete History.
This system of teaching revolutionized throwing the football and put defenses in trouble. The timing just changed everything. You can’t underestimate the contributions of this coaching.
15 other teams passed on Jerry Rice. And Craig was a second round pick. Having a scouting philosophy informed by a visionary system is no doubt an advantage.
Those late 80s 49ers team would destroy any team today and it wouldn't be close they had to many weapons and use them all at the same time they can pass and run to keep the defense off-balance also smart rathman would have put up monster numbers today
A masterclass of passing offense. I can listen to Bill Walsh discuss the west coast offense all day. RIP Coach. GO 49ERS!
There’s a reason that things Bill Walsh was teaching 40-50 years ago are still being taught today. Was so far ahead of everyone else.
Bill Walsh is a mad scientist when it comes to football. My favorite coach of all time.
Literally one of the best videos of all time
Every kid that wants to play quarterback should watch this video
i am

And every coach needs to read Bill's book, 'Finding the Winning Edge'. It's the Bible for coaching in the NFL
Fantastic. My favorite coach of all-time.
RIP, Coach. One of the best of all time.
This guy was several generations ahead of his time
That was a magical time.
There so many nuances on the steps, on every route ive learned so much. Thank you for this documentary

every football fan should watch this...
Best video I learned to follow through cause the passes are not always perfect

I love these two super stars. This the reason that my heart it's in San Francisco. ❤❤❤
Awesome thanks for sharing
Montana such a humble person

Genius 🌹😎✌️🤘🫶🍿🙏
Textbook precision, taught by two masters.
Different throwing motion for left handed throwers
Bill Walsh is an SJSU Alumni!!
If only Bill could mentor Brock Purdy as a force ghost
Now one of the coaches from his tree now is coaching Lance 😊
That would be sweet!
Purdy is doing just fine with Kyle Shanahan, who learned from his dad Mike, who learned from Bill and George Seifert.
@@manhalen7046 it's baseball season so I couldn't careless at the moment
Read Building a Champion, he speaks of how the ball must be within 2 inches of a target.
That jacket so tough!
Offensive Genius!!

Can anyone please tell me what the music is at 35.55 t0 36:25??
I think it's something by Sam SPence or David Robidoux
Are there videos of madden breaking down offensive schemes while he was coaching?
He retired too soon. His team could have won atleast 2-3 more SBs.
Fascinating to see how the rivalry with Dallas would have unfolded with Walsh at the helm.
Having Jerry Rice, and Roger Craig kind of makes this a bit easier...
This system of teaching revolutionized throwing the football and put defenses in trouble. The timing just changed everything. You can’t underestimate the contributions of this coaching.
This system has succeeded with lots of players not named Rice and Craig.
15 other teams passed on Jerry Rice. And Craig was a second round pick. Having a scouting philosophy informed by a visionary system is no doubt an advantage.
Every time I see Bill Walsh and hear him speak, I think of Phil Mickeslon. Don’t know what it is. 😂
West Coast guys
After watching this, I am a nfl coache.. all the panthers love me... holy shit.. this music is SO ludicrous!!! Wtf omg
Corner tight throws are the hardest but Montana is the best I wasn't very accurate
Good luck
Proven methods, the trophies and yds prove that.
Those late 80s 49ers team would destroy any team today and it wouldn't be close they had to many weapons and use them all at the same time they can pass and run to keep the defense off-balance also smart rathman would have put up monster numbers today
And then the west coast offense spawned the 3-4 defense
West Coast timing
Remember, the other people over there on the other side of the field are sick and demented
The Raiders!
Doesn't talk a lot about defense, does he?
Still taking Montana over Brady every day
I can't watch this with my girlfriend 👋
