I'm curious if you ever thought someday you'd make a percy's promise season 2 style, and double header season 2 style, along with gordon goes foreign season 2, and the missing coach, maybe even a bulls eyes, or drip tank season 2 style? Just wondering.
@editorbryce I have a curious question your favorite thomas season? 2 of my friends really like season 6, my favorite seasons of all time are seasons 6 and 7, the UK versions of course, and I do like season 2 as well, my all time favorite thomas DVD when I was a kid was new friends for thomas, even episode was amazing and season 7 had such beautiful backgrounds and graphics, my favorite 2 episodes in the DVD was of course jack jumps in and a friend in need.
@editorbryce oh and just one more thing, just in case you do decide to make a season 2 version of percys promise, i heard in the original script, the beginning of the episode was meant to take place at the new harbour, you know, the harbour that Trevor the traction engine worked at in the episode a new friend for thomas. Just wanted to make sure if you knew or not.
this legit feels like a lost season 1 episode, all the little season 1isms made this feel very genuine, the narration is incredibly solid too awesome work !
Tramp Man, you should make a Trampy movie out of this. Title and description should be Trampy Movie # 22; Leaves James struggles to pull the fucking express is he gonna die maybe.
@editorbryce The colors and effects really make these adaptions feel like long lost episodes. And all the stories that were not film in another season or the right season or not even filmed, feel like just the way it would've been like if they were filmed. 😊❤
Brilliant adaptation! As much as I like the S3 adaptation, I honestly think the RWS story is a lot reasonable with Gordon's arc and I think this would've made great for S1. Everything from the music, the sound design and the shots feel so realistic as the style of the earlier episodes.
They definitely should have adapted this for Season 1 instead of 3, especially given it’s from the same book as Down the Mine and Gordon Takes a Dip. Great adaptation and definitely shows what could have been
I am in utter disbelief-I don't think I've ever seen a season style recreation get as close as this video has! I literally had to watch 4:41 twice because my mind was BLOWN at how accurate the shot was to actual season 1 shots! Breathtaking work front to back!
I can see that a lot of work went into this project and it really pays off. This was a lot of fun to watch and as such, thanks for making this and it’s sibling. If I could say anything to criticise this video I’d say that some of the music feels a bit too layered to be S1 music (some do feel more like S2 pieces), and the colour grading is missing that “somewhat neon green tint” of the original rushes. Also, I think the intensity of the black could be reduced/brightness could be increased, but those are all I have to say. The direction and choice of movement with the engines in conjunction with the narration (James heading off for the express despite this train journey starting) did stoke some nostalgia in me. Well done with this, and I look forward to seeing what you make next ^^
Before stupid COPPA does the dumb shit: Stellar work! I love seeing proper S1 adaptations of stories that should have been in S1. You really captured the feel incredibly well! If you’re up for it, maybe you could do a S1 adaptation of “Henry and the Elephant” sometime in the future?
Thanks for the compliments man! Yeah Henry and the Elephant would be another good one. I'll probably do that next, and then most likely Paint Pots and Queens if I'm still motivated lol
The colors on this are reaaly season 1 accurate. Reaaly adds to the footage here. It feels just like how it would've been if they were more accurate with the timeline in Seasons 1-4. And put the right stories in the right seasons.
Great work here. I despise the adaptation of this for Series 3, this is a lot better. Love the recreation of the VHS wear and tear. A few too many nods to the S3 sets but great at capturing that S1 feeling. The narration too is a great nod to Sir Ringo Starr.
Very well done! Your adaptation was so much better than what we got in Series 3's "The Trouble With Mud". I'm still shaking my head at the line, "Mud had blown all over his smart blue paint." Mud does not "blow" onto somebody! Placing this after "Off The Rails"/"Gordon Takes A Dip" would have made so much more sense!
I've got an idea for a video which you can use because the original episode was pretty goofy from Season 5: Haunted Henry (Season 1 Style). One moonlit night, Henry - who was taking a freight train to a station by a lake - was working with Edward. Gordon had meanwhile agreed temporarily to pull the Flying Kipper for him. Suddenly, an owl hooted. 'Whenever that owl hoots, Henry, a mist rolls in,' Edward murmered. 'Shut it!' Henry barked. Edward glared. 'There's a legend that when the mist rolls in, there's a ghost about too. For God's sake, take care on the old line tonight, young engine,' he rapped ominously. 'Stupid bird!' Henry snorted. 'Owls, mists, ghosts! Pah! Edward's going soft in the boiler. There's no mist.' But he was wrong. 'What's that?' Henry cried suddenly. 'It's an amber lamp genius. That means proceed with caution,' his driver said cynically. 'Who's there?' There was no answer. Slowly, Henry crept forward. He saw a sign nailed to a tree: 'Beware of the viaduct.' The driver was shocked. 'No one told us about this before and lo, the signal's red, and the gates are closed. And there's a fogman's coat! But where's its owner?' Suddenly, they saw a light flicker in the station building. 'G-g-ghosts! Edward was right!' Henry exclaimed. 'I think that's it's best we go back. Something pretty strange is happening,' said his driver. 'So do I!' Henry agreed. By morning, the mist had cleared. 'Lucky you didn't try to cross it last night!' A worker was speaking to them about the unsafe bridge. 'Yes, but we don't know who warned us,' Henry's fireman replied. Later he spoke to Henry. 'The bridge has been repaired. We can take our train back along the old line tonight.' Henry really didn't want to. But by nightfall he was sizzling nicely. Suddenly, an owl hooted, and James rumbled by with the Express! 'Oh, look! Henry's spooked!' sniggered a truck. 'Zip it! I'm not scared,' growled Henry, but he was. Afterwards, the fog came down. As they approached the same area, they noticed the amber lamp again. 'Here we go,' Henry's driver said. Suddenly, the gates closed all by themselves, and the signal went red! 'Faster, faster! There's a ghost about!' The trucks had seen everything and were scared too! 'Stop! Stop!' Henry yelled. An odd figure watched Henry go by. Up ahead was a landslide blocking the line. Henry braked hard, but the trucks hit some of the rubble and fell down the gorge. Just then, Henry's crew laughed. 'What's the joke?' Henry questioned. 'That's our ghost. It's old Bailey, the fogman!' He was quite mad. 'I tried to warn you about that bridge. Why didn't you pay attention?' he snapped. 'Sorry. Is there anything we can do to thank you?' asked Henry's fireman. 'I'd like to operate that old station again, if you'll let me. I swear I won't spook Henry,' he smiled. Eventually his wish was granted. 'Here's to the friendliest, um - ghost - on the island,' said the Fat Controller. Everyone cheered, especially Henry who was happiest of all.

Based on a comment I have received, I do NOT want anyone to remake this or use the audio from this in any way. Thanks for understanding everyone!

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask the same for paints pots and queen, or henry and the elephant season 1 style.
We'll see... I'll put out what I can, when I can.

Thanks Carson! I actually created the VHS effect from scratch in After Effects with a tutorial, and I think it looks pretty convincing myself!

Absolutely incredible remake! It feels straight out of S1 with the VHS effects making it feel even more like S1
props to you and the composer. james’ theme never sounded so splendid.
Given the sound of the music, it feels more something from Season 2 than Season 1. Meanwhile, a very fine adaptation. 👍
Nicely done!
Barring a couple of sound mixing moments that I felt could be improved upon, this is pretty solid for an S1 style adaptation!
Lovely work from both of you! (Also Happy Birthday!)
Lovely work Bryce! Glad you’re using one of my routes :) Connor did a amazing job on the soundtrack
Phenomenal job dude! Glad I could help out :D
Really love the soundtrack and visuals, nice job!

i loved this adaptation! people need to do more things like this. I'd kill for a season 3 adaptation of james and the coaches :P
Everything about this screams season 1. So perfect.
NOW this is a Adaption I've been wanting to see Very Series 1 like love it!
That was quite an impressive recreation of a classic story.
I like how when you did the shot of Gordon taking the trucks just look like Edward and Gordon from and alternative angle which i feel is like s1
This actually is really good! You've earned my sub for this!
Whoa!! This feels like a Season 1 episode....and its so perfect! As always, keep up the delightful and very awesome work!! 👍😎👍

US dub when? Seriously, this is how The trouble with mud should be in my opinion. Great work!
Feels like S1 over again.
Much better than the actual episode.
Great work dude
Kinda feels as if it were a canceled adaptation, even though it was adapted later. Anyways, superb job!
That is a great description...
This was great! Felt very season 1. Will we get a Paint Pots and Queens? :3
There is a good chance ;)
This takes place between episodes Off The Rails and Down The Mine
But why didn't Britt Allcroft and Clearwater Features make the episode, Leaves for series 1 of Thomas and Friends in 1984?
Will you do A S1 Adaptation of Percy and the Trousers?
Great work here. I despise the adaptation of this for Series 3, this is a lot better. Love the recreation of the VHS wear and tear. A few too many nods to the S3 sets but great at capturing that S1 feeling. The narration too is a great nod to Sir Ringo Starr.

Can you remake the American dub of Percy's Promise in both styles of Season 2 and sort of the early UK...ish?
I might just do a UK dub, but I plan on doing a few others in a S1 style first before Percy's Promise.
