I passed my bike test in Cavan today. Thanks very much for the video it really helped me learn the route and meant that I could head to Cavan and practice which I did plenty of before the test. If anyone else has a test coming up and has any questions, I may be able to answer those.
By the standards applied where I have had the misfortune to do mine (twice, unsuccessfully) this isn't a driving test, it's a pleasant run out with one or two missed turns!! Do you go for a few pints with the examiner afterwards?!
@@Mr.M1STER Jealousy, is it? I'd give me left T to have done it there. Can't tell you where I have done it 'cos I have to go back there, in all likelihood, but narrow , concrete paved housing estates, tight turns, busy roundabouts and TONS of traffic behaving normally. Obviously Dublin normally.
Can't use the motorway going there so Google Maps is giving me 2 hours. Going to wait anyway for the remote chance of some good weather before I think of applying again. Two hours on a bike in the rain followed by a test.... need I say more?
@@Mr.M1STER Fair dues!! Had to re-do the IBT because I went over two years. Guess where I did it?? I'll be applying for the test as well, but a bit uncertain as to where because of the need to be in the South-West and Dublin regularly this year. Hopefully Cavan. Just noticed that the test route was run on an SV650S. I have one that I've put raised bars on. Even with that, how the hell can you do a 7.5 metre U turn with that lock? I sure can't .
@@capt.blackwater4599 Thanks. Ah that's a pity about redoing the ibt but at least it gives you another 2 years to get things sorted and you definitely will this time round. I'm sure there are other test centres in the country that are not so bad and maybe outside Dublin. I own an SV650 but it is the naked version and that is what I used when I rode to Cavan to practice. Cavan is about an hour away from me too so about 3/4 times before my test I rode over, practiced and rode home so took a fair bit of time but at the moment I am fortunate to be on my holidays so have the free time. In both locations in Cavan I was able to do the U-turn it just takes practice and a little bit of instruction, whether that is from an instructor or even just watch youtube videos to help. You definitely will be able to do a 7.5 metre U turn. In the end I was ready for either U turn location but the examiner took me into the location that is a bit wider which I suppose was a bit of luck but I was ready for either and had been practicing well in the 7.5 metre area.

Congratulations on passing the test mate. Well done.
Very helpful thanks❤
Any chance you could tell me what is the width for the u-turn?
The width in the housing estate is 7.5m if you get to do it heading into the estate on the dublin road (27:30) its 8.5m.
I have exam this Friday in cork. I hope ı can pass it
Well?
Very good. How many different routes are there in Cavan for the bike test do you know?

@@capt.blackwater4599 You can books test anywhere so it's up to you where you're deciding to do it. Good luck if you go for it again.
@@Mr.M1STER I'm very seriously considering just that possibility. Thanks and good luck to you too. Maybe we'll meet on the road sometime....

Of Course I should have Thought of that. On a bike it should be a bit quicker . Best of luck anyway!
@@rance182 Thanks. Will keep you posted.

Is only in Cavan? Or could you have your test in Monaghan?
No motorbike test centre in monaghan.
Thank you. Ah i wish it was in Monaghan. Ah well hopefully i will pass my test
This is hardly the route for the car test too is it? Can't seem to find that anywhere
Some of it is but not all. Tail some of the instructors cars out of the cavan crystal any day of the week . It will give you a good idea of the route.
@@rance445 deadly thanks man!
