The BEST Small Parts Organizer - Small Parts Bins

- I love those little flexible plastic trays that come in those small parts organizers. However, the cases they come in are horrible. The plastic gets caught on each other, the cases are brittle and break, it's just not fun. So today, I fix that problem by building a small parts organizer bin housing out of real wood, not cheap plastic. Enjoy!

That looks really nice! One thing you could have added was LED lighting to the rear wall so that you can see better inside
Yes that's not a bad idea, although in my shop it would be a "diffused" light due to all the dust that accumulates!
"I am bougie!" 🤣👍👍
Something like that!
Love this build, approachable and great explanation of the pieces involved. I'm sure this will serve your shop well!
Thanks! I’ve tried different small parts organizer options and haven’t found a great one yet, so maybe this is the answer.
Excellent my friend
Thanks!
Quite a lot of wasted space, with those thick verticals. If you make the frames egg-box style (half width cut, slotted together) you save a lot of space, material, and time to build. 3mm ply does the job.
Personally I prefer drawers- you can see the items clearly, making choice easier. And wall space is valuable...
I had drawers at one point but somehow the dust in my shop found its way into the drawers since they are more of a flat surface that collects dust!
@@RockyRiverWoodworks But they are drawers!
Damn nick work.👍💪🇺🇸🛠️🛠️
Thank you!
Just came here after watching Adam Savage's Sortimo sliding drawer cabinets build. I guess you're both bougie 😂 but his plywood was much worse. Probably could've used less material to maintain sheer stiffness with a single diagonal brace. I'm also wondering if half thickness interior uprights would also have worked and created a narrow cabinet if they were held sufficiently at the back to prevent sagging.
Very good points to consider
nice job :)
Thank you
Do you know of a source just for the trays without the cabinets?
I do not
Cool
Thank you
Nice
Thanks, it's time for you to make one now too!
I love the build; I was wondering how much you would charge to get me one build the same way for my home started business?

Is the hardboard drawer bottoms strong enough? No bowing?
Absolutely, they're great. Usually (as you know) hardboard isn't super strong. But with those pieces being so small in relation to the amount that's supported on the sides, they hold up fine. And one of those trays full of screws doesn't really weigh all that much.
Awesome, but there's no link to the plastic organizers.
Sorry about that. I just added a link to them in the video description.
I am little concerned about the safety aspect of your video. Using your bare hands to push wood through a jointer is a little scary.
Thank you for your concern. I have since upgraded my jointer and have 2-3 push sticks laying around that I use when operating the jointer.
😂 that's why I couldn't watch till the end...
This is not a craft movie. This is a horror movie 😅
Be careful with your fingers
Thanks mate. I’m always trying to be super aware and mindful of safety in my shop.
..very nicely done. What does “bougie” mean, does it mean you take pride in how something looks and that you’re not just a utilitarian, that’s me as well then! There’s no beauty in function, the form matters too, ok take it easy
Yes I would agree. I like stuff to look nice!
Its like you read my mind.......
Good luck on yours! Not hard to make.
Good luck on yours! Not hard to make.
My guy, safe practices are basically non-existent in this video. It's a cool build, but your methods are sketchy AF.
For any newbies that are watching: do not use the table saw or the jointer in the way he is doing it. He wont have all of his fingers for long.
Safety is indeed important. I now use push sticks and am comfortable with my tools, and use extra precaution with around blades, my guy.
