But more to the point, if you were to accuse the Rangers of succumbing to pressure by NOT having a homosexual themed event at one of their games, are you accusing them of being disingenuous? As in they really want to do a homosexual themed event, but simply lack the courage to do it? Or are they not doing it because they genuinely don't want to? Which is it?
Also, don't these homosexual themed games seem antithetical to a movement seeking to normalize homosexuality? Wouldn't it stand to reason that the best way to normalize any lifestyle or behavior is to NOT dress it up a separate subculture, but to have it be absorbed into the wider culture? Simply put, if I went to a Rangers game and hypothetically the crowd happened to be 20% homosexual, why should I even be able to tell the difference? Most Americans/westerners dress similarly, act similarly, etc.

If teams don't wanna have it, then they shouldn't have to. The whole pride movement really wouldn't be as controversial if these people would stop forcing compliance on everyone. Not everyone is going to agree with your life style and you can't call everyone bigoted because of it.

@Thrasher It is a lifestyle when you decide to identify by your sexual preferences and/or deviant behaviors. As well, the actions and pride taken in them is in conflict with moral standards that will and have remained unchanging in multiple world religions. Secular society does what it does based upon the spirit of the age, religious values don't change. So, we see that there is a true conflict here and baseball, nor any other sport, is going to change that.

@@hotcheetoman86 you clearly are missing the point of “pride night” its supposed to be a day where people come to the ballpark show that everyones welcome. But people twist this into the teams “forcing” you to do gay shit and wear gay shit. No one said you have to, and you shouldn’t if you don’t want to. But to say that “Pride Night” is forcing people to do shit they don’t want to do is lunacy. So when the Rangers don’t have a pride night, shows that people of this community that they don’t care about them. It’s just one day, and if it’s gonna make people of this community who go through unfairness and injustices every single day that us straight people do not have to worry about at all, then by all means ill put on the god damn rainbow shirt.

LGBTIA+ people are still not accepted by many groups of people in the US and major organizations like the MLB having a night celebrating those people and saying that they are accepted is important not just for the baseball world(where there are a lot of non-accepting people) but for our entire country. However I'm not saying that the rangers have to have a pride night, but the people that say it is annoying to see other teams and places have a pride night are a part of the problem and are why pride nights should exist.

The fact that Jacob Degrom has it in his contract that they can't hold a pride month while he's contracted is the reason why the Rangers aren't holding one. It's a contractual obligation, not an official stance. The Rangers decided that getting him for their rotation was more important, which is ironic since he had to get TJ, only threw 30 1/3 innings this season, and will miss the lion's share of NEXT season.
I want to make this clear, I'm not wishing ill on the man, I just find it interesting that the clause ends up in the contract, and he ends up needing TJ IN PRIDE MONTH.

I saw this on Twitter I think, but I agree with the comment that it’d be great for teams to opt-in to pride night or other events, instead of opting out. Let players who want to wear pride pins and wristbands wear one, and don’t make those who don’t want to wear one. Same goes for Independence Day, mothers and Father’s Day, and other salute to service. Don’t force players into representing things they either don’t want to or don’t care about. This way, the representation on the field feels more authentic, and fans can actually see players be honest and transparent on where their views are for different events. I feel like this will be better for everyone, because surely there are players on the rangers who would want to represent pride, and players on the dodgers who don’t want to. This is a happy medium and doesn’t force players into doing something they don’t want to

Big props to the Rangers for standing their ground and showing the rest how it can be done instead of shoving it down everyone's throats. All it is for MLB is a money making opportunity. They don't give af. Tbh the majority of the ones who go to pride night only go to that 1 night and forget the rest of the season. The Dodgers front office screwed themselves with that decision to bring that group in. I'm guessing no research was done or anything and now look at them. Lol
Like I said pride night is just a way to bring the lgbtqia ppl to a game and have them spend money on merchandise, beer and food. I don't care for it but im there for the game not what's going on.

I don’t care if teams do or don’t host a pride night. They’re private companies, they can do whatever they want. Nobody should be forced either way.

So the Rangers can just be about Baseball ...what a concept. You also gotta appreciate the MLB logo removing the gaybow
