I have watched tons of videos on vinyl upholstery.... all crap until I came upon this one! This is by far the best video on doing vinyl there is. Thank you so much!
I'm doing a $5k job on a yacht for just one room and EVERYTHING she says is TOPS. And that staple remover is the BEST especially if you have to remove the old vinyl without tearing it up if you need to use it as a template for od shaped cushions..
I'm about to use 4 way on a spade shaped motorcycle seat for the first time. This video looks to be the best one relating to my needs.Thank you and may God bless
I do atv seat covers and the corners have been my biggest challenge for the last 10 years. Reviewing other techniques have gotten me this far but I can look at corners a little differently now, thanks.
Just happened to see your video. I am in the process of upholstery the seat and back rest on my John Deere tractor. This is a big help, wish we were neighbors. Very good video.
OMG....You came into my life the at the right moment.....redoing the seat cushions on beautiful solid maple dining chairs I bought as dining table set. The table and 6 chairs were bought 10 years ago for $4500...I was able to buy second hand for $500 which were in mint condition. The seats were done in a ugly flower fabric so I bought some 4 way stretch faux black leather to redo. I followed one video doing pleaded corners but did not work well on the first cushion I did. Your gathering method makes so much sense. Thank you so much. Cheers from Canada Bradley
I covered 4 of 11 bar stools with vinyl and struggled with curves and corners. This was my savior. Using the hairdryer to soften the vinyl IS GENIUS!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Finally, The much needed help that I needed. I am a very good teacher. So is She. Adding the material difference is the key to an excellent result. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
thank you so much. Agree with others, have seen so many videos on 'how to' but this is clear, concise, explanatory (without telling a life story) and personable.
The thinner the vinyl the more cracking it will develop later. Cracking usually takes place around edges of armrests and on the sides of cusions. I do like your videos. Great work there. Thank you.
I did it! Thanks for your video. A few things I learned. - 4-way vinyl is expensive. For a non-circular chair seat, I got away with 2-way stretch for $6/yd. plus shipping - Spring loaded staple gun was fine. Chair had T50 1/4" 6MM staples so I matched when replacing. - For the corners, you should expect and indeed WANT creases ON THE UNDER SIDE. As you work around the corner, drive the vinyl perpendicular to the edge and pull and staple the created under-side creases a couple of times (staples are cheap).
I recovered my stools following some of your tips, everything turned out great!!! I even posted me doing it in my latest video...of course I gave you credit and shared your link the description... Thanks for the tips!!!
You have taught me something new! VERY valuable information! I have 4 mid-century chairs that I have been avoiding recovering because I wasn't sure where to start i.e. fabric, smoothing corners. But you gave me a place to start. Thanks so far much!!! I also subscribed.
Nice! Best of luck! Im searching vids because i also just removed my boat seats...would like to recover them aswell. But these pros make it look easier than im sure it will be... Lol Cheers
Thanks for the help. I am planning on covering the whole interior of a 1960 chevy truck, including the very curvy dash. Not to find some very heavy clamps. Staples aren't much help on metal.. ;)
Aimee, your video is very well explained. After watching it I did my workshop stool and a highbacked office chair, both of which turned out great! Thank you!
Beautiful work, nicely explained. I know from experience that getting the tension as even as you showed only comes with patience and practice which you clearly have plenty of. Thanks for posting, greeting from Panama.
All this time I have been folding my corners. Never would I have thought to staple in the middle and then gather it on the sides. Thank you for the tip. Boat upholsterer
Investing in a upholstery air stapler will make your life a heck of a lot easier when you need ridiculous accuracy 😁👍I have one like hers AND the specialized one. And they're not even that expensive. Anywhere from 20 to 60 dollars depending on where you shop..
U do very beautiful work I couldn't get enough of watching you do that, I had to replace my mother's seats and this was the perfect video to watch so thank you for showing me how too, they turned out wonderful by the way..
A BBQ diner had us do 12 chairs (seats & backs) in red vinyl, no welt chord (food & goo) catcher. Did put on black bottom cloth. They had the joy putting them back on the frames 😀. Thanks 😎
Aimee, your tutorials were extremely helpful in my first DIY upholstery project of my kitchen counter stools. You gave me the confidence, and I’m super happy with how the cushions turned out. A fresh coat of paint on the chairs and they look brand new. Thank you!!
Well after about 70 thousand tries and running out of staples because I had to pull so many back out I now know how far I can frisbee my seat base and it's roughly 67 feet and then a truck ran over it and broke it. So there's that and really good tutorial btw and I'm not gonna quit my day job.
Aimee: May I suggest you do a video addressing bar rails, gaming table rails (roulette/blackjack/poker/craps) which will greatly expand your audience to include males. I am finding your Working with Vinyl video very helpful as it involves some of the corners and rounded end challenges that a bar rail presents.
Very helpful. I'm trying to share your techniques/adapted to making bar rails and gaming table (craps/roulette/blackjack) rails. Your videos have turned me around in my own efforts!
Absolutely great video. Very well done. Visually clear and straight to the point. Thanks for all the help. I would not have known these little tricks. Thanks again.
The only thing I wish you'd shown is how to cover the back. I'm redoing my dining stools with curved backs, and can't figure out how to hide the staples. I watched another video with you using tacks, so perhaps I'll try that. Thanks so much for your videos!
Nice and informative video, If you buy auqua text material (same material used on 4 wheelers and jetski seats with no seams) the material stretches in every direction and reminds me of the material a balloon is made of,,easy to work with ,,without using seams to contour your work makes it a lot easier
th-cam.com/video/l1TG2Dsu3SQ/w-d-xo.html this vinyl video is not nearly as viewed, but is much more informative in my opinion, in case you need more vinyl info.
Thanks for the tips and tricks. Just found your channel as I need to figure out how to repair our sofa. First time doing this DIY due to the Covid 19 movement restriction, bored at home
Thank you for sharing all your tips great positive attitude 👍 you stated you bought your vinyl from a local store, around Lincoln Nebraska we have Jo-Ann Fabrics, I've bought Marine vinyl there but it definitely wasn't 4-way stretch. Are there online stores or am I overlooking something locally Anybody out there suggestions? One other question is what denisty foam are you using? I've only ever done one piano bench, but have 5 round stools and a work chair I'm evaluating.
I’m not sure what you can purchase locally, but maybe someone else can help. Even if you ask at the store, they may be able to help you find it or be able to order it for you. I use high density foam, and there is foam you can buy that is specific for marine use.
Very helpful video! I am hoping to do some golf cart seats and know I need to use some kind of marine vinyl but beyond that I know nothing about working with vinyl fabric. Plus your corner trick is gold! Thank you for the quality content.
I have watched tons of videos on vinyl upholstery.... all crap until I came upon this one! This is by far the best video on doing vinyl there is. Thank you so much!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
I'm doing a $5k job on a yacht for just one room and EVERYTHING she says is TOPS. And that staple remover is the BEST especially if you have to remove the old vinyl without tearing it up if you need to use it as a template for od shaped cushions..
That last piece was just what I needed for how to finish the corners on a seat! Gathers not folds! Thank you
Amy, you always make it look so easy. The sign of a true professional! Thank you!
I'm about to use 4 way on a spade shaped motorcycle seat for the first time. This video looks to be the best one relating to my needs.Thank you and may God bless
You are the queen of the corners. Thanks for helping me refresh my skills.
I do atv seat covers and the corners have been my biggest challenge for the last 10 years. Reviewing other techniques have gotten me this far but I can look at corners a little differently now, thanks.

Tutorials don't get better than yours Aimee - I've just finished watching all of them - fantastic xxx
I covered 4 of 11 bar stools with vinyl and struggled with curves and corners. This was my savior. Using the hairdryer to soften the vinyl IS GENIUS!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
God bless you.
Finally, The much needed help that I needed. I am a very good teacher. So is She. Adding the material difference is the key to an excellent result. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Great video, thank you. Since watching have done two boat seats and both clients over the moon Xx
I've seen a few DIY vids on this, and yours is the best. I'm doing up a set of barstools, and this helped a lot!
Appreciate the video. I've been tasked with doing 6+ tractor seats&this has been informative.
I appreciate your sense of humor.

Where did you find vinyl so cheap? I checked Joanns and it’s expensive there!
You make it look easy! But possible for the rest of us!
Oh wow! Thank you for the woopie cushion prevention holes!
Yours is the 4th video on this and it’s the best one of them😊
Omg Amy you are GORGEOUS! 😍
That's fantastic thank you I just bought some old retro folding chairs for my tiny flat and am just recovering them
I recovered my stools following some of your tips, everything turned out great!!! I even posted me doing it in my latest video...of course I gave you credit and shared your link the description... Thanks for the tips!!!
Awesome! Thanks so much
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. Thanks
Thank you!
Fantastic video. I agree with Terry. I've watched plenty and this is one of the best ones thus far.
Nice work. You are very pleasant on the eyes. What a knock-out
I came back to watch the section on the squared corners again. Getting better, thanks.
You have taught me something new! VERY valuable information! I have 4 mid-century chairs that I have been avoiding recovering because I wasn't sure where to start i.e. fabric, smoothing corners. But you gave me a place to start. Thanks so far much!!! I also subscribed.
That’s great! I’m sure you’ll do a wonderful job
Same !!
It would be great if you could source where to get the vinyl from
Good info on the vinyl. Have done several projects with marine vinyl, didn't know there was 2 way vs 4 way stretch, hum
Wow! That was immensely helpful. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this! About to redo my golf cart seat because no one makes the pattern I want. Very helpful.
Watched dozens of videos before. This is the best explained one.Thank you .
Hey thanks! You helped me find the confidence to reupholster a cool chair, this might be a new side hobby.
That’s great! I’m glad to hear it helped you
Great job and video, I really learned something today. Thank you
Thank you so much! I'm re-upolstering boat seats. A little overwhelming..lol.. Now I'm excited
Nice! Best of luck!

Thank you so much! I have been watching your channel for a few years and finally going to do some work on our chairs.
Great video! Chair #1 before your video, not so great. Chair #2 after your video has IMPROVED! Thanks!!
You are a Master of your craft!
Thanks so much 😊
Due Credit to other videos I've watched, but you take the 👑 with your tutorial.
Thanks a lot.
Wow that was vary helpful thx . I’m going to apply this to a motorcycle seat I want to redo .
Aimee, your video is very well explained. After watching it I did my workshop stool and a highbacked office chair, both of which turned out great! Thank you!
Very helpful. I have a dining room chair with sharp corners and gathering helps but the vinyl still bunches up even after using a heat gun.
The ottoman im redoing has sharp corners as well (not rounded corners like the video). Im still getting some gathering as well - ugh!
You might have to cap it. You can see how to do that in two of my other videos on vinyl
Beautiful work, nicely explained. I know from experience that getting the tension as even as you showed only comes with patience and practice which you clearly have plenty of. Thanks for posting, greeting from Panama.
Fascinating. I learnt a lot. Thank you.
Thank you Amy, really appreciate it (so does my chairs).
this was perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Brilliant thank you. So glad I watched this before I started. I would have folded at the corners and got it horribly wrong.
Thanks! Those little tips help huge!!!
Being honest when you first started I thought you were in over your head, very professional result...
All this time I have been folding my corners. Never would I have thought to staple in the middle and then gather it on the sides. Thank you for the tip. Boat upholsterer
"Otherwise you're going to be sitting on a whoopie cushion every time you sit down." LOL
Thank you lovely lady. Greetings from Scotland
