When I first saw this in the cinema, I could've sworn the agent that says "You were warned, lieutenant" was Agent Thompson from Reloaded played by Matt McColm, but apparently, he is Agent White who appears in Matrix: Path of Neo. I also read once that he replaced Smith as lead Agent after his defeat at the end of the first film before the original Agents were replaced by the Upgrades. The third modal Agent is apparently Agent Brown from the original film, even though he's played by a different actor and looks nothing like him. Agent Jones is non-existent inside the modal and White replaces him.
I wish they made Bugs a main character or gave her more development, because the actress fits perfectly into the movie (unlike new Smith and Morpheus), but it's just my opinion :)
It’s just a byproduct of them (Lana etc) genuinely not caring, no points or admiration should be given for it being a profound intentional choice\meta narrative in this regard. It’s almost spiteful actually. Very unfair on all the talented people who were involved that obviously took this seriously and worked hard. Like a bad cake; the ingredients here were good, the recipe by way of a lousy chef just wasted them.
I watched the whole movie (I'll never get that time back). It was one of those movies that you say to yourself, "Its gonna get better" and you end up saying that right to the end. I like Keanu Reeves but the writers, director, and editors, and producers dropped the ball. Bummer.

I stayed up until it released on HBO Max (3 AM EST) and I had to rewatch the opening because of how fast it was. First viewing was disorienting but after figuring out what was happening I had a blast.

I think the majority of fans were expecting the movie to focus on the brokered peace between humans and machines, which is where #3 ended. We got too much of the past and very little of anything new except for the special effects.

When watching the Matrix movies, it's better to think of them as a metaphor to better understand them. This Matrix movie is a metaphor for two people who fell in love as 30 somethings hooked up for a while but broke up. She got married and had two kids. He went on to create a successful software company but remained a bachelor. He tried to medicate himself to forget but he couldn't. They randomly met in a coffee shop one day fell back in love. She remembered she liked banging dudes that looked like Keanu Reeves. She decides to leave her husband and kids. The End. It's actually a decent middle aged love story if you just forget about the whole Sci fi Matrix element.
What I love more than anything about this film...first thing people thought after watching was....Can't wait for the Next John Wick film. Keanu has loyal fans. Even this movie has no effect on the fandom.
Ellen Hollman was great in the first ten minutes as the Echo Trinity! Too bad she wasn't in the rest of the film, that would have made an interesting conversation about identity, reality and consciousness if she met the original Trinity. Neo ran the modals to see if a program would gain sentience if faced with the same situation over and over. Modal Morpheus almost went insane and was assigned as Agent Smith. A lot of possible story points left unexplored, sadly
Yes, that would have been interesteing......However, that didn't happen because this film was simply not planned out right. There were many other missed opportunities.
I wish they would have taken a different approach like start Resurrections right after Rovolutions showing us what happened to Neo, then plugging Neo back in and resetting the Matrix putting the war on hold for a short time. Later show us the inner workings of the machine world and the Architects objective. Rather than rehashing the same old stuff
I remember watch the first matrix in theatre, and wow its mind-blowing, the coolness, the action, the effect, but this one is unbelievably terrible, ruined my childhood memories
The Matrix Resurrections had a $190 million budget and grossed $150 million at the box office so dont be expecting a Matrix 5 movie anytime soon guys !
The Wachowskis did not want another Matrix movie, When Warner Brothers decided to make one anyway. Lana Wachowski decided to direct so she would have some control over it. I suspect she didn't really care if it was successful or not.
The opening logo was alright but idk what’s more confusing: Lana Watchowski being aware she’s making a movie/typical remake and instead of letting someone else make it, or Bros Warner accepting this project to be filmed and distributed. If they really wanted a 4th movie to happened it could’ve so much better than this in terms of plot .
instead of rehashing a complete trilogy, it might have been better to do a sequal to Johnny Mnemonic (1995) - also starring Keanu Or if they were REALLY adventurous and competant.....could have done a trilogy exploring how mankind got into the mess in the first place (robot matrix) and who were the first ones to wake up. Also more details pertaining to the 'Neo/chosen one' prophecy.
@@ajcics what did you think the plot was? And not to be conceited but from my understanding it was biblical. Morphias was John the Baptist looking for the one. Who would free them from the slavery of the Roman's. And neo was Jesus hence the end of the trilogy when he died there was a bright cross of fire.
Don't quite understand. If Bug has already seen Neo before (and also don't understand why the Neo she saw look so ill), then she and her team already know for fact that Neo is alive. Besides, Bug said later in the movie that Neo never falls and not-falling basically means flying, which in turns mean Bug has already seen Neo awoke in full force. Things don't quite add up...
I've always felt weird since the 2nd film that I've noticed that with my adhd I was better at watching these in segments .. 😆 it's taken me like 10 years once to finish 2nd & 3rd

Too bad she wasn't in the rest of the film, that would have made an interesting conversation about identity, reality and consciousness if she met the original Trinity. Neo ran the modals to see if a program would gain sentience if faced with the same situation over and over. Modal Morpheus almost went insane and was assigned as Agent Smith. A lot of possible story points left unexplored, sadly

What a tragedy of a movie.
I wish they would have taken a different approach like start Resurrections right after Rovolutions showing us what happened to Neo, then plugging Neo back in and resetting the Matrix putting the war on hold for a short time. Later show us the inner workings of the machine world and the Architects objective. Rather than rehashing the same old stuff

I haven't seen the whole movie yet but they should have made this movie within 5 years of the previous sequel.
The Wachowskis did not want another Matrix movie, When Warner Brothers decided to make one anyway. Lana Wachowski decided to direct so she would have some control over it. I suspect she didn't really care if it was successful or not.
The opening logo was alright but idk what’s more confusing: Lana Watchowski being aware she’s making a movie/typical remake and instead of letting someone else make it, or Bros Warner accepting this project to be filmed and distributed. If they really wanted a 4th movie to happened it could’ve so much better than this in terms of plot .
I quite liked this first ten mins. I found the agents missing shooting from 10 meters away silly .. but apart from that it seemed quite interesting.
New characters. Revisiting matrix. All good. I've heard it was underbudget... So good Christmas gift.

Or if they were REALLY adventurous and competant.....could have done a trilogy exploring how mankind got into the mess in the first place (robot matrix) and who were the first ones to wake up. Also more details pertaining to the 'Neo/chosen one' prophecy.

@@ajcics what did you think the plot was? And not to be conceited but from my understanding it was biblical. Morphias was John the Baptist looking for the one. Who would free them from the slavery of the Roman's. And neo was Jesus hence the end of the trilogy when he died there was a bright cross of fire.

Don't quite understand. If Bug has already seen Neo before (and also don't understand why the Neo she saw look so ill), then she and her team already know for fact that Neo is alive. Besides, Bug said later in the movie that Neo never falls and not-falling basically means flying, which in turns mean Bug has already seen Neo awoke in full force. Things don't quite add up...

It doesn't make any sense. They killed Trinity early in the third film -- yet Neo didn't lose his powers. So they don't even remember their own canon.
