As an ex treatment plant operator for 26 years and a former construction worker I know that when people have an extension built or a big conservatory, instead of having a soak away to take the rain water which can cost a lot they opt to allow there run off to be put into the foul water system because it’s cheaper, thus when it rains millions of gallons of water flood the sewer system causing pollution, I wonder how many of the people moaning about pollution are responsible for it happening.

I am supposed to have water soaks, septic systems, insulation and solar panels installed on my house at MY expense because I am damaging the environment when energy and water companies aren't even maintaining our infrastructure- let alone performing upgrades? Meanwhile billionaires can feel free to hide on mega-yachts and have caviar flown in by helicopter, then hop on a private jet to the other side of the world for fun and feel no guilt. Purchasing offsets to shift the blame onto- an inevitably poorer- someone else? Don't think so! how about making them pay the customer back we are charged on our bills for supply and sewage cleaning so if they ain't doing it properly and they get found out fine them heavily and force them to pay their customers back

Why do they allow flood water into sewage works? I think there should be separate drainage that diverts flood water away BEFORE it enters the sewage works. That way it's only clean flood water that's run into rivers and beaches. No problem!!?

Nobody says it's acceptable and nobody (in their right mind) would "vote" to keep dumping into the rivers/oceans. The problem is more complicated than that - mainly that the environmental agencies and the govts are doing a pretty good job talking big while doing nothing. Why are you immediately blaming the population for what shifty-eyed corpo cronies are illegally doing to begin with? And are you really naive-enough to think that a change of a majority party will solve this issue? This issue (and many others) needs a radical change, from top to bottom + a large amount of finances. Something being illegal never stopped the criminals from doing what they do - otherwise this wouldn't be an issue, now would it? A mere election change would never make that big of an impact on all levels of all involved sectors, considering that we'd still have most of the same issues in terms of cronyism and financial limitations. Someone would also have to watch over the entire thing to keep everything in line, but then we face the never-ending question "who watches the watchmen?".
Stick to ogling at bikes, you're probably far better at it than solving the world's issues or even recognising where they come from.
