Rock Fever (2024)- String Quartet and Koto

"Rock Fever" is written for 21-string koto and string quartet. The instruments explore their own range, color, and techniques along with their counterparts in the ensemble, imitating and exchanging with one another.
The piece is centered around tension and restlessness through warped and tangled evolutions of motives passed between instruments and encompasses the unease and discomfort of settling in to unfamiliar places and the grief of moving on.
