Thanks for these videos. Just bought a type 6 as my grandfather and great grandfather were both miners all their lives in Barnsley and Rotherham. Managed to adapt it so it lights, your videos have been invaluable and it gives me a link to my past and to two gentlemen I never met.

@@camerasintheclouds599 Thank you for your comment. The reason why I started making the videos was to help people with their lamps. I am so glad the videos helped you.

Hi, I just bought a type 6 brass bonnet, cleaning and drying the opened cell fuel in the sun for sometime hoping the old fuel evaporated, replace cotton wick, fill in 120ml Zippo fuel, insert a red zippo flint, light lit after a few strokes but refusing to lit it again can you please advice me.

Can you light the wick with a match and does the flame stay lit? Also are your gauzes inside the bonnet free of dust?

After checking the culprit was the lousy Zippo flints which I bought online. Much appreciated.

Der Lamp boy. I have a GR6S lamp and I need flints, so that I can operate the lamp again. Where can I get the respective flints?

For Protector lamps I just use standard Zippo flints, I have found they work really well. Clipper flints aren’t as good in my experience.
