No wonder it was a signature scent for Lady Di and Nicole Kidman. It comes in edt and edp. If you like Rose fragrances, do not sleep on that one. It’s intoxicating, it’s rose rose rose, it lasts a long time, and you can buy it for under $20.! I never thought that a fragrance that cheap could be that good. My search for a unique ROSE fragrance has stopped.
Rose is a note I typically find very challenging in perfumery and have only found a few I enjoy: Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land is my favorite, Malle’s Une Rose seems the most accurate red rose, and Serge Lutens Sa Majest la Rose an accurate green rose. I want to try Slumberhouse Sadanne since I read Josh created that fragrance because he similarly struggles with rose and wanted to create a rose he would wear.
I’d been looking for Lyric Man since last year! I wasn’t willing to drop the $$$ for the large bottle Yesterday(8/01) I received my smaller bottle of Lyric for $170 and some change 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Much better than Lyric Woman(smells like my Grandma’s perfume) The other Rose that I loved was Kilian’s Rose Oud...no longer with us.👎🏾
I got Portrait of a lady but i feel its a very gothic kinda rose, and i wear it for special events not a day to day kinda fragrance for me but it’s definitely very unique. Some of my fav ones (for myself) -L’occitane Rose (the new one) very modern and fresh rose -Oud Ispahan by Dior (omg my fav rose-oud scent -Montale Intense Cafe -Chloe ...used to love it now just like it -Portrait of a lady

Tiziana Terenzi Porpora is a great rose fragrance. Is Montale Black Aoud considered a rose fragrance or oud with rose fragrance? I like that fragrance also. Thanks for the video. Please, anybody can reply back with an answer
Very good video as usual! I myself don't like the rose note...yet... The only mentioned fragrance I know is Montale's and I love it, will be getting my sample of Slow Explotions and excited about it. Maybe I'll get into the note... By your description I'd love to try the Initio and the Nishane😊 (the Little Prince rose)
Not accustomed to🌹Rose as a male fragrance note but my Cartier Declaration d' un soir is teaching me otherwise. It's a shame for us, men, to miss on this marvelous note.

Great review! I can’t wait to try some of your recommendations. I’m so sick of hearing people put down rose fragrances as smelling like a grandma. For some it just works with their body chemistry. I have worn so many over the years and never has someone guess what I am wearing, let alone pick up the rose. They are among my most commented fragrances. My most recent is Experimentum Crucis by ELdO. I also recommend Ex Nihilo’s French Affair, which is similar, more refined but with a little oakmoss.

You’re absolutely right about taif.. because I’m commenting from Taif Saudi Arabia and i last week visited the rose oil ( ittar) factory here of taif rose.. there are alot of rose factories here with attached rose gardens from where they get the freshest rose and they actually guide and elaborate you through the process of making rose oil and rose water..

Indeed, Taif rose is from the city of Taif in western Saudi Arabia. The rose is much smaller than we see in the U.S., but it has a strong wonderful projection. The small petals are also used to flavor hot back teas. Delicious!

I love Diptyque Lambre dans leau for the blackcurrant and rose together. Is there any other brand that does similar combination of blackcurrant and rose but DOES NOT have other heavier scents like vanilla, amber, etc?
Have you ever smelled any Miller et Bertaux fragrances? I have a rose one from them called Shanti Shanti. Before I became a perfumista I used to visit a local boutique that had them. Anyway I'm not recommending it just curious if you knew the house. There is a weird peppery note that began to bother me... I should try to sell it..
Lyric man, oud satin mood, rose 31, helfti, cairo, le mat, nior de nior, rose of no man's land, gypsy water, la rose , une rose, , amber aoud, these are my favorites. But portrait of the lady is my no.1 as well, followed by le mat (middeterosa). I might have missed something. There are so many unisex 🌹
Its amazing the "journey" one goes on as a fragrance lover, I absolutely detested rose when I first got into fragrances and couldn't for the life of me why people liked and wanted to smell of rose, but I've come to absolutely love the note.
I was like that with tobacco. Now *Parfums De Marley Herod* and *Tobacco Vanille* are 2 of my favorites for winter. Absolutely despised them 4 or 5 years ago.

Some other faves of mine are Armani Prive' Rose D'arabie, Elie Saab Essence of Rose #1, Amouage Lyric Man, Mancera Black to Black, as well as Al Haramain Floral Sculpture. ( I have back up bottles of all but Essence of Rose #1 ) Thanks for sharing such an interesting list !
Have you tried Pink Citrine by Olivier Durbano? It’s a unisex cold, spicy rose with olibdanum, saffron, ginger, rose, & myrrhh with a refreshing opening of grapefruit.

I'm always picky with rose, but was given a sample of Smolderose by January Scent Project yesterday at my local perfume store and really liked it and will definitely be picking up a bottle for the cooler weather - it's resinous with oud and a powerhouse. Available in 30ml and 100ml - it's so strong, 30ml would last a long time. Have a great weekend Sebastian

I tried rose de taif monte carlo edp ! And ot smells amazing buuuut after only one and half hour no scent not even a touch of the scent on the skin. It jumps from amazing projection to NOTHING not even a smell on the skin . So im scared to get this small expensive extrait and geting dosapointed 🥺

POAL by FM doesn’t smell good to me. I don’t know what it is. Pachouli is wonderful but I don’t smell it. I smell the raspberries I smell the rose but it doesn’t come together nicely.
Awesome list. I will definitely have to try some of these. Two that I would recommend if you haven't tried them are Bollywood Or Bust by Smell Bent and Ardent by Boadecia the Victorious. Ardent is a super nice fresh red rose smell that is probably the most realistic rose smelling perfume I have smelled. Thanks for the great video!

Hi there, great video, as always! I love POAL (obvious), Atomic Rose is a new one I’ve been enjoying, for me it was love at first sniff of Rose Omeyyade and Intense Cafe is the best Montale fragrance imo. I got intrigued by the Tauer one and the Perris one. Gotta go check those out!

Am I the one and only such an unlucky person in the world? The beautifull portret of a lady doesn’t last on my skin more than four hours?? Everybody, I mean everybody claims, that this perfume is very potent and so long lasting.. I wonder what is wrong with me?😆😆 It’s so amazing though..
grew up on rose jam? it's a very Bulgarian/Middle Eastern thing. I despise any rose in food, I find it repulsive. But in perfumery wow. I even had one commissioned with rose and black musk in it. Heaven, most hate it around me during the first 3 hours that rose is the star, but who cares?
Ummm…rose jam…when you described it, I could taste and smell it…so yummy. Also, rose Turkish delight…delicious! I am tempted to check out that Gallagher fragrance.

I’ve never hear anyone mention Blouse. My only YSL fragrance with strong rose scent is Paris EDP. Now I’m curious about Blouse. 😉🌹

I tried rose de taif monte carlo edp ! And ot smells amazing buuuut after only one and half hour no scent not even a touch of the scent on the skin. It jumps from amazing projection to NOTHING not even a smell on the skin . So im scared to get this small expensive extrait and geting dosapointed 🥺
I have a friend that wear Rose De Taif Extrait I can smell it on them all day long and into the next day! So maybe you got a bad bottle! :(

POAL by FM doesn’t smell good to me. I don’t know what it is. Pachouli is wonderful but I don’t smell it. I smell the raspberries I smell the rose but it doesn’t come together nicely.
Awesome list. I will definitely have to try some of these. Two that I would recommend if you haven't tried them are Bollywood Or Bust by Smell Bent and Ardent by Boadecia the Victorious. Ardent is a super nice fresh red rose smell that is probably the most realistic rose smelling perfume I have smelled. Thanks for the great video!

Thanks for this updated video. My fave is Tobacco Rose, (I don't think is smells anything whatsoever like Incense Rose) just an absolutely glorious earthy and jammy rose.
Hi there, great video, as always! I love POAL (obvious), Atomic Rose is a new one I’ve been enjoying, for me it was love at first sniff of Rose Omeyyade and Intense Cafe is the best Montale fragrance imo. I got intrigued by the Tauer one and the Perris one. Gotta go check those out!
Declaration d'un Soir was a very nice rose fragrance, but I believe it's been discontinued.
I’ve since added Lorga rose d’encens and Jovoy rose Millesimee...incredible rose perfumes 🌹

Am I the one and only such an unlucky person in the world? The beautifull portret of a lady doesn’t last on my skin more than four hours?? Everybody, I mean everybody claims, that this perfume is very potent and so long lasting.. I wonder what is wrong with me?😆😆 It’s so amazing though..
grew up on rose jam? it's a very Bulgarian/Middle Eastern thing. I despise any rose in food, I find it repulsive. But in perfumery wow. I even had one commissioned with rose and black musk in it. Heaven, most hate it around me during the first 3 hours that rose is the star, but who cares?
Ummm…rose jam…when you described it, I could taste and smell it…so yummy. Also, rose Turkish delight…delicious! I am tempted to check out that Gallagher fragrance.
