My grandmother kept a small bucket of rosemary in all the rooms of her house. She insisted that during the Spanish Flu it is what kept her family free of it. When she changed out the water she poured the spent water around her house and it seemed to fertilize her roses. They grew up and created a gorgeous hedge around her home.

Just crack the leaves a bit and put the whole unstriped section (do not need much) into the gravy(when the gravy is done) and stir while tasting the whole time. Around October, I have taken fresh sprigs of rosemary and stuck it in small bottles of olive oil to impart a rosemary flavor till Christmas . I give them as gifts. I love the flavor of the rosemary in the olive oil. I just recently learned that you can cut rosemary sprigs and stick them in the jars of water (which I think looks pretty) but I didn’t know that the sprigs would root! Voila - new bushes started!

I just bought fresh rosemary at the store to root in water. I’ve never tried it. Hoping it works. I struggle to keep my plants alive through the summer but love rosemary. I just want to plunge my face in it all day!

Hi Anita, I also live in South Carolina but on the western side. I’ve tried several attempts at growing rosemary and have never been successful! Any tips?

@@JamieCamile495 the only thing I’ve discovered with the intense heat, is, to put your rosemary in a place where it gets 6-8 hrs of sun starting with the morning sun. Having shade to protect it from the intense afternoon sun which stress it too much

Thank you for all the great information. I'm Italian so we grew up with it. I love how easy it is to propagate. I had tons of them and gave them away as gifts...big pots of rosemary. To propagate, get some good soil, a bottle of root tone, dip the cutting into the root tone, and shake off excess, and place it into moist soil, and keep it damp. However, if you put the cutting into water it will sprout roots sooner. I love, love, love, rosemary.

I grow rosemary, and cook with it, mostly, though now want to make rosemary vinegar! I also put it in my chicken coop, in the nests. Smells so wonderful and my girls pick at it.

I have a huge rosemary plant that I really need to start using more. My favorite way to use it is on potatoes and chicken.

Thank you for all the helpful information.
I have been using Rosemary for a couple of years now, I started putting dried rosemary in my olive oil bottle. I have been making Rosemary tincture for brain health since this summer and I drink a small sip every day. I have been adding Rosemary to salad dressings, smoothies and today I'm going to add dried rosemary to my castor oil, which already has cloves. I use it to massage all of my achy areas and my face. After a few weeks massaging my lids and eye area with castor oil I no longer saw the big spider leg floaters that I saw all the time.
I also don't wake up with my numb hands like I used to after thoroughly massaging them with castor oil.
    Happy New Year

I steam a few sprigs for about 15 minutes and use the cooled water as a hair rinse, the perfume from the steaming fragrances the whole house! I will try making rosemary oil and use this to condition my hair. I am also going to buy more rosemary plants! Many thanks to you.

I make a ROSEMARY LEMONADE with Strawberries or Blueberries to sit in a pitcher in the fridge for a refreshing drink all summer long with dinners. Fresh rosemary, mint, cloves and basil infused in oils are used on my hair with cinnamon sticks. My scalp loves it, and my hair grows very fast.
