  • VSG Pureed Diet TIps and Tricks- Meal Prepping some transition foods - Full Liquid to Pureed Stage
    I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ICONIC PROTEIN - www.drinkiconi...
    Ricotta Bake
    i.pinimg.com/o...
( I added 1 scoop Genepro) ( i used full fat cheeses, feel free to use whatever you like)
    (Made 4 4oz servings)
    230 cals - 21 protein -net carbs 5.8 - fat 15.3
( for me this was too thick and I wasn’t ready for it, I think it was wishful thinking that I could have this already. I plan to wait a week or so before reintroducing - this is probably more a cross of puree/soft?)
    Cinnamon Sweet Potato Puree
    1 sweet potato, cinnamon
sweetener of choice ( I used a cinnamon “sugar” blend I had previously made using THM Gentle Sweet, but any stevia or erythritol type will work)
4 oz NutPod Vanilla (or almond milk, or even some vanilla protein shake)
    1 scoop Genepro
-- I blended it all up well and then put into 2oz serving containers --
    56.7 cals - protein 5.2 - net carbs 8.1 - fat 0.7
    Pinto “refried” beans
    1 can pinto beans drained
    1 oz shredded cheddar
½ packet lono life beef broth powder
    1 scoop Genepro
Tiny bit water added to get consistancy
    Blend till pureed well.
    -- I placed into 2oz serving containers --
    56.9 cals - protein 7.7 - net carbs 3.9 - fat 1.8
( next time I will probably add a bit of salsa to this for more flavor)
    Sugar Free Protein Pudding
1 box sugar free pudding of choice
2 cups iconic protein ( or any protein shake of your choice here)
    2 scoops genepro
Blend all well and then pour into 2oz containers and store in fridge
    25.6 cals - protein 6.9 - net carbs 1 - fat 0.3

All of these look so amazing! I've used alot of your recipes. There is only one thing I would add on here so ppl new to vsg don't try it. Sugar alcohols, such as erythritol, glycerol, mannitol, sorbitol and xylitol.
Are all sweeteners that should be avoided after surgery as they can cause dumping syndrome and more. Stevie is the recommended sweetener for post vsg.

    • @TimetoShrink
      @TimetoShrink  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks so much! But I do disagree. Most post VSG handle sugar alcohols- dumping is with gastric bypass… but I personally only use allulose at this point as my sugar substitute. I never have ever used or recommended glycerol, mannitol, or sorbitol- I do think erythritol and xylitol work well for most- I don’t really like them.

I know this is an older video but for someone who just had surgery Friday evening, this is incredibly helpful for me! I have my eating plan from my nutritionist but seeing others and what they make and try along the process before I get to them is wonderful! If you happen to see this, what all did you add on your week two? I believe that is the week where I can start doing protein shakes? So still liquid but a little bit thicker?

I just want to thank you for all of the recipes. I am not a post-VSG patient, but instead have the opposite problem. I am severely underweight due to a paralyzed stomach and weak esophagus. I have to eat purees and I am getting really tired of the same thing every day. I watched your other Puree video and I am totally excited to make some chicken salads! I never even thought about spicing it differently and the sweet curry really sounds divine. I hope you are well and your journey is going well.

Just found this video and read your comment. How are you doing? I also depend on a half puree, half liquid diet due to my swallowing problem. I am also underweight due to some severe side effects from a cancer treatment. My tongue base muscle is now inflexible, affecting both eating and speech. Would like to know how you are coping with your daily food intake. I am basically depending on protein drinks now. It's a tough journey but we keep going with our heads up, ok? Take care. All the best to you.

I also have paralyzed stomach and allergic esophagus. I am trying to move from liquid diet and introduce pureed food. My doctor told me to buy baby food, but I checked them out and they all appear to be gross. I get the feeling of eating the same thing all the time getting old. I have been living on 1/2 cup milk1/2 banana smoothie and one scrambled egg a day.

630soccergirl My doctor doesn't allow post vsg patients who are in the purée stage to consume starchy veggies, cheese of any kind, sugar free pudding, avocados, legumes, but 2 oz. of puréed fruit is ok. There are huge differences in dietary guidelines post surgery, so I follow my particular rules to the letter, though it is interesting to see how varied the diets are.

Mmm pesto! I recently found another “Mexican” or “Spanish, Cuban, Latino” version of what I think will be delicious made this way, it’s Goya brand Recaito cooking base, it’s made from cilantro, green bell pepper, onion, garlic powder. I’m goin to try this for a cheesy enchilada flavored purée. Maybe add some canned green Chilis , and layer the ingredients. Truly the versions are endless!

Hello. Im 3 weeks out an this week is. (Puree/ soft.) i really dont no what to do.an its so expensive.the things i need... Can you tell me the main things ill need. On( puree) ...an is eggplant. Soft food..if baked....an my religion wont let me eat anything. ((Pork))). What do i put in its place??

    • @TimetoShrink
      @TimetoShrink  5 ปีที่แล้ว

It’s pretty easy to avoid pork products- def not necessary- Genepro protein powder is pretty expensive but lasts a long time- I found it necessary to get in enough protein to use protein powders and I liked it best as it was a small scoop and unflavored.... in the long run it’s really not expensive at all to eat post op as we eat such tiny amounts- is recommend eating a lot of eggs if you tolerate them as they are so inexpensive- you can purée most veggies including eggplant after cooked- for example I did sweet potatoes and added in Genepro for protein... egg salad , chicken salad both can be purées and tasty. Also buffalo dip... I have a few more purée videos besides this one with more tips and Info

I’m about to go onto purée’s after gastric bypass surgery last week. I don’t think I could handle the dairy fat in the ricotta and Parmesan. Today I stirred a couple of teaspoons of light sour cream into one of my usual soups & double strained it. It had me unwell for a couple of hours at least, irritated bowel & three trips to the bathroom, elevated heart rate. So mild dumping syndrome. Still very unpleasant. I’d only had about 1/3 cup of soup & then threw it out. Has anyone watching this video, who has had a gastric bypass successfully had ricotta or even this ricotta bake recipe without dumping syndrome?

Hi, I’m just beginning my journey. Ill meet my surgeon for the first time next week. I’m enjoying your posts and getting a lot of info.
I just wanted to warn you that canning jars are not made for dry heat. They can shatter or develop micro fractures and leave glass splinters in the food. They are made for wet heat (boiling) not the dry heat of an oven or microwave. I’m a home canner and see people making this mistake a lot. Freezing and boiling (after it thaws and is close to room temperature) are ok.
