When I clicked on this I thought it was going to be on flashing the Quansheng UV-K5 to receive SSB on 27 MHz. It turned out to be more interesting. I always wondered how an SSB sugnal could be detected on a 27 MHz superregenerative receiver.

In the old days. You could get a mate to drop a AM carrier (just transmit no modulation) on the SSB channel and everybody listening on AM could hear and understand the SSB conversation.

That's a nice way to increase the selectivity of superregenerative receivers especially now that nano vna's are quite inexpensive

    Amazing project

I love watching your projects, they are really brilliant!
Since you’re into unconventional regen architectures, could you go into demodulating PSK and FSK? It is possible because the SRO locks into the phase of the carrier.
Also, is it possible to use a LNA in place of a conventional FET with SRO type receivers?
Anyhow, keep up the good work!

Hi Peter, I love your videos.
Will you think about a build of a simple 10m SSB transceiver?
The total lack of QRP hand held 10m rigs would be a fantastic project for 2024 summer sporadic E propogation! 😊👍

Another great video! One question - you mentioned that the disc ceramics you used were not ideal. Is this because they're disc ceramics, or because of the particular type of disc ceramics you used? Thanks!

NPO disc ceramics are OK. Others drift. Mica & polystyrene capacitors are preferred if you can get them.

Silver mica are the best, but most expensive.

Some beginner radio books described this technique but they are likely out of print. Superregen receivers, including the use of a BFO, were occasionally described in Pat Hawker's columns in Radcom.
