Loosing Gary and a premiership all in the same night was heart shattering, props to Richmond they played an excellent 4th quarter and were able to come on top with the win

Nick Vlaustin’s house was burnt the day before the grand final in Torquay. I felt sorry for him but at least he got his premiership medal.

I have to be honest , as a Richmond supporter, at half time I had accepted we will probably lose . Then a few minutes into the 3rd , you could sense the game was changing.
Halftime came at a crucial time , almost a replay of last year’s prelim, Geelong the better team first half , Richmond the second . With Richmond being more productive with their run of the momentum
I was hoping like hell Garry Ablett could get another premiership.
He took the golden Suns money, and he paid the price in the end. No more team glory, only more meaningless material things. He blew it.

Coming from a richmond supporter, you cant help but feel bad for the cats. Chris Scott has done everything right over the past 10 years. To every single final series the cats were in (basically all of them) To making it to another grand final is remarkable. Legendary coach. As for Gaz, 19 years of awe. He is the best player to play afl footy ever. I cant stress just how successful he has been. So sad to see him walk off the field after losing one of the greatest games in football history and the injury as well. I hope one day geelong will experience success once again. Richmond in 2021 haven’t been at their best but 2020 was amazing and after seeing making their mark it is just marvellous. After all that has come our way the past 10 years of dimma coaching its amazing to see 2017 Dusty’s year, 2018, Making it to a prelim, 2019, When we were at our very best, and now 2020. Amongst all the covid chaos and travelling and on top of that winning the premiership the pressure was insane. So proud of the boys and what we have here at richmond is truly special. YELLOW AND BLACK!!!!!!!
2017 was the drought breaker and very special, 2019 confirmed how good a footy team Richmond were and made up for 2018 but 2020....in my opinion was the most satisfying - Richmond did it the hard way, they lost the Qualifying Final to Brisbane at the Gabba, so they had to get to the Grand Final the long way. To beat Port Adelaide by 6 points on their home ground (Adelaide Oval)...very hostile environment..awesome effort. To make the Grand Final after being away from home state (Victoria) for 100+ consecutive days and win the Premiership....very very special. So proud of the Richmond FC that night. They were tough during the COVID pandemic in 2020 and won the Premiership. Credit to Geelong too for also making the Grand Final after being on the road for 100+ consecutive days. As for Gary Ablett Jnr - an all time great.
As a geelong fan, i have nothing but admiration and respect for richmond they are a champion club and will admit they got the better of us in finals, and even though we lost this grand final, it was a great game.
Afl is the best sport and I want to be a AFL player when I'm older my dream and I'm so happy that footy is back 😊

Don't get me wrong, Richmond were fantastic but looking at this 2 years later shows how good Geelong really are. Made that grand final and lost but made the preliminary final the next year. Lost that and in 2022 they went unbeaten for 16 games to be the most dominant side of the year and win a flag. Geelong for the last 20 years have been so good.
All the little digs Chris Scott has had over the year at Richmond and for him to do what he did was so satisfying

It was a great night 👍 but it's also important to acknowledge that only a year later in 2021 - Geelong made Preliminary Final and in 2022 made the Grand Final and ended up winning the Premiership. Richmond beat a quality team - Geelong managed and were good enough to stay in contention for 2 years after that 2020 Grand Final loss. Obviously 2023 saw Geelong drop down the ladder (it happens) but like my team Richmond.....Geelong will need to rebuild. It's part of the cycle of AFL footy.
