Man, missing this was one of the biggest regrets of my life. I'd been drinking in the Horsehoe for a few days when I saw the promotion that The Strokes were appearing the next night. In Australia we'd all heard about The Strokes on the back on their supporting You Am I's tour (which I also missed) and there was a huge buzz. But we were leaving for Montreal and I didn't think I could talk my travelling companion to stay one more night just to see a band he'd never heard of. Happy this video exists, though I still wish I had been there.
@@raytonjd It was released in the US on October 9, so 5 days after this show. Before that it had been released in Australia on July 30, in Japan August 22 and in the UK August 27.
Probably one of the Strokes' best shows ever. Still underground, drunk and completely on fire! The interview with nardwar was recorded that same day, you can notice by the clothes of julian and nick
Julian was (in)famous for wearing the same clothes for multiple days straight during this era. Plus the Nardwar interview was recorded in Vancouver, not Toronto.

This is really good, a lot of the strokes concerts from 2001 that are on this site have a problem with the audio where you can hear Jules perfectly but barely hear the rest of the band
No but I have been to the venue dozens of times... I was too young to get into the show. It's an awesome recording though and one I was happy to get my hands on.
Wait a minute… There’s a primitive Is This It and Soma details. But When It Started is Writen already. Didn’t they write that song after 9/11 to replace NYC Cops ? So it wasn’t writen in one day at the last minute then.
Man I need a time machine
Same here
this is the time machine
I think this is the closest we'll get
Let me know if u find one
So do I
They sound like the recording , just perfect
Man this man was blasting amazing tunes before my birth
Same
Watching these songs being played live in this small club is so wild it’s so
I hope they do more of these again soon; they’re current tour has them with RHCP which has most of their gigs in open air stadiums😞
It’ll prolly never be as small as this cause they’re way too famous but I’m hoping for a tour with a lot more smaller venues soon
This shit feels even better than the first album recording
The liveness of this combined with the slightly degraded audio is an unmatched feeling.
Hey Jorge orellana! I watch your videos all the time man!

If I could go back in time only for 45 minutes, i would go to this show
Keep in mind the was a month before is this it released- these people were some of the first to hear the whole album and didn’t even know it!
hadn’t is this it already been released in most countries already at this point; this was filmed in oct

@@mungofinalfi4480 I mean it wasn’t that common back then, but I think it was basically out by a month in the US since the vinyl released on 9/11
The audio is really great for a 2001 recording
Suena mejor de lo que esperaba
When your debut album is full of CLASSIC and iconic songs
Can't think of many better debut song lists than this

Oh, nice catch!
nah m8 that interview was 1 day after tha concert
That interview was in Vancouver. This was a Toronto show.

lol he was wearing the same clothes for the Last Nite Mv

Oh to have seen The Strokes back when they played shows in bars, unbelievable.
I've bern looking for this years now
Julian gets points for pronouncing it “Toronno”
Less than a month after 9/11. The Strokes really broke at a weird time.

Yeah that'd be awesome, would you be able to do so by downloading and ripping this video? The raw VHS has since been lost unfortunately
Have you been able to do this?
