This movie has more depth and layers than most people noticed. The technology and architecture was gorgeous, the sky tower with it's open privacy given by it's location, memories recorded in your DNA, the level of emotion. That kind of intangible element that this film created is what I strive to either find or create for myself.

Me too, love this movie a lot. It was filmed in they Highland Deserts of ICELAND in late Spring - very early summer 2012. Icelandic Newspaper were full of Tom Cruse making a Science Fiction Movie. I was their at the same time, doing a North-South Solo Travers on my own. Crossing the complete Highlands, Hiking 350km, seeing absolutely Nobody for nearly 14 days. The whole area still closed for public regular travel, cause snow melting still going on. IT WAS F**KING AMAZING. The inner parts of Iceland as looking this kind of Doomsday desert. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth I know. But could be very dangerously for travelers who are not familiar with this kind of WILD NATURE, especially, when you are Hiking on your own and outside the main season. Nature is damn wild their, and weather often change within minutes, and becomes very seriously dangerous, if your Equipment isn't top notch, and you didn't know how to handle this kind of situations and bad weathers.
YOU could go on a bus in summer season of course to explorer this amazing landscape, if you are not this kind of extreme hiker, and it is beautiful for sure. But not the same, as when you realy know, that you are the only human person within an area of thousands of square miles. It is a feeling like being on the surface of the moon.......if you have done this, you realize what it's meant to be REALY ON YOUR OWN SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE 🇮🇸

A lot of times, movies etc., that are "too smart" are not well received :/ This movie didn't just hand you all the answers, and in general, the majority of American audiences hate that.
It was a Great Sci Fi movie, thought provoking and like Ptanyuh says deals with concepts the average moviegoer probably wouldn't or couldn't catch.

The name says it all. Oblivion can be beautiful, and there is a strange beauty in a world purged of human constructs, even be it overtaken by others. To realize that life is defined not by what it does, but what it is. Even in Oblivion, the struggle to survive is testament. The lack of edifice makes the struggle even grander.
I met the most beautiful woman in the world around the time this movie came out. It's been our movie ever since.

Love this flick. Got really curious about M83 watching credits after watching it last night and I think I have a new favorite techno band. Watched it the first time probably a year after it came out. Watched it second time with my wife. Watched it a third time last night and it was deeper and more compelling the third time. Great action sequences, dog fight scenes, great sound track, and I always love Tom Cruise. Loved him in Edge of Tomorrow and Jack Reacher. One of my favorite actors and one of my favorite Sci-Fi flicks. Was that M83 music during the skinny dipping scene towards beginning of the movie...Andrea Riseborough, wow what a knockout.
