Speed is not the reason you want a wired connection for gaming. It's because wifi drops a lot more packets than a solid connection, so you end up having to re-transmit much less often at the TCP level. So yeah, it's usually a little faster because of this but the real value you gain is higher reliability (which means way fewer lag spikes) If you must use wifi, I recommend changing the default channel (or use auto channel detection) in router admin settings to reduce interference from other devices
