Repent means "turn away from". As in stop doing it. I have never been able to stop doing some things altogether, without something forcing the situation.

It means agreeing with God about them. Only by walking in the Spirit can we resist temptation and overcome sin. So often we get caught between Roman's 7 & 8. If I was given 1 wish it would be to never sin again. That will only be true when we are in His presence after this life.

Watcher. We have assurance in Christ that, when we turn away from our sin and accept Christ as Lord of all, we have eternal life and it can't be taken away. the Jesus said that the Father gives him we who are chosen to be saved, and that NO ONE snatches them out of his hand. Turn away from your sin. But if a life has a continuation of sin without repentance, a question should arise if they've ever received Christ in the first place.

He gives us chances AT salvation, our whole lives so long as we do not harden our hearts to Him.
When we accept Him we have it, and more importantly: HIM! We have the great I AM!

This is my understanding, and from my knowledge I am not saved. God has been speaking with me however and I make sure it lines up with scripture, I know that trick; got fooled a few times. I am on my way to the Lord and very soon. God has been gracious to deal with me very faithfully, as He has. Praise God for that. He's been patient with me and my understanding and has been very loving to me. I want to follow the Lord, but I have an issue I have identified with the help of the Lord, that I am clearing up.

I don’t think that in hell some will have a easier or harder punishment than others. Hell is so horrible because it is the absence of God, so He isn’t more absent for someone then it is to someone else. I think we must understand that people don’t go in hell to be punished for their sins so it’s not “the greater the sin, the greater the punishment”. Yes, sins are the primary reason why people go to hell in the first place, but just because they are the things that separate us from God. Everybody has sins but the difference is that some believe the word of God, that Jesus died for out sins and others don’t. So ultemately that is the reason people end up there, and that is what all people are punished for: unbelief

Regarding the verses in Luke early in the video, I take those as referring to God's discipline of his own. What the verses seem to be describing is corrective action against servants that were not performing the will of their master rather than wrathful destruction of the master's enemies. We are told that God disciplines those that he loves, and like any parent God will discipline you according to the offense, not because you've made him angry but because he loves you and wants you on the right path. If you do something wrong you might get a warning, but if you continue on the same path despite multiple warnings you might find yourself falling on hard times, or maybe suddenly nothing is going your way. We should take joy in God's correction, because it's just more proof that he loves us.

Please, slowly read what I have written, and take it to heart and ESPECIALLY slowly read what the Word says, dont take mine for it, ask God to reveal it to you.
I have a couple genuine points here, as I have struggled with this myself brother.
There has to come an understanding of what to do in those situations.
There is a time to flee, and a time to fight.
Time to flee: 1 Corinthians 6:18
      Time to fight: James 4:7
When you are confronted with sexual immorality: RUN AWAY!
Turn off your phone or computer and leave it in your room and run away! Go for a walk, or call someone or talk to a family member and get your mind off of it.
If you want a literal example of someone running away from sexual immortality look to Joseph in Genesis 39: 7-16 (please read the whole chapter but that is the example)
He (God) will also give you a way of escape as he is faithful, and will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Do not let the devil lie to you, you can overcome it. Romans 8:15
You are not a slave to sin!
God gives His grace to those who humbly ask Him! James 4:6
Jesus is not only our Forgiver for sins but he also is our Savior from them!
      Hebrews 2:18
Jesus suffered the same temptations as us and He cried to the Father for help!
      Hebrews 5:7
God will hear you if you fear Him.
You must be humble before Him, and be willing to change from your wicked ways and when I say willing I mean you have to THIRST for righteousness (matthew 5:6) and purity from sin. 2 Chronicles 7:14
If you need to, please reread this and meditate on it, and if further explanation is needed you can get ahold of me at:
      330-808-8667
      God bless you friend. Shalom

      @xaviersonofgod4464 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

And as for a time to fight, look to when Jesus resisted satan in Matthew 4: 1-11
It's important to know scripture and be able to tell the devil "no" with the specific scripture and the Holy Spirit will bring it to mind. John 14:26
You have to know scripture very well to have a defense, and the Holy spirit will give the ammo you supply it. God has your back all the way, but you have got to work at it.
The best suggestion I can give to you: learn the fear of the LORD.
      Jesus knew it. Hebrews 5:7
We need it if he needs it.
      Fear of the Lord scriptures:
      Isaiah 33:6 (what it is)
Psalm 19:9 (the quality of the fear)
Proverbs 2: 1-5 (how to get it)
      Proverbs 10: 27
      Proverbs 1: 7
Proverbs 1: 22-33 (what happens if you dont learn it)
      Psalm 34: 11-15
Let the Holy Spirit teach you the fear.

"Without, Hell the religious pastors would be out of a job".
Eternal torment would violate God’s justice. (Deuteronomy 32:4) When the first man, Adam, sinned, God told him that his punishment would simply be to pass out of existence: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19) God would have been lying if he were actually sending Adam to a fiery hell.
God does not even contemplate eternal torment. The idea that he would punish people in hellfire is contrary to the Bible’s teaching that “God is love.”-1 John 4:8; Jeremiah 7:31.
    The Bible’s answer
Some Bible translations use the word “hell” for the Hebrew word “Sheol” and the matching Greek word “Hades,” both of which refer to the common grave of mankind. (Psalm 16:10; Acts 2:27) Many people believe in a fiery hell, as shown in the religious artwork accompanying this article. However, the Bible teaches otherwise.
The cross disproves the doctrine of man's Hell John 3:16-17.
Jesus Christ paid our sin debts we can't go to hell, Hellfire, or Outer Darkness if we wanted to - And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world -1 John 2:2.

Does it matter? It's hell. Greater suffering or lesser suffering.. it's hell! I find it quite interesting someone would wonder about the degrees of pain in hell when hell itself is eternally painful to begin with. It's a matter whether your name is in the book of life or not.

You will experience all of the pain, suffering, and disappointment that you caused others. It will be very intense. There will be gnashing of teeth. Nothing you do on the earth will mitigate this experience. The good does not erase the bad. How bad it is depends on the bad you have done to others, so, yes, some will experience and spend more time in hell than others.

If you really look into the original Greek translation, there is no talk about being punished in Hell. There's actually no talk of Hell, period. That was later added into the text and doctrines of man have since been formed by it, causing unnecessary fear and slandering the deep love of the Father. Piper, God Bless him, is another one who has been decieved by the traditions of man and is worshipping a god that was not believed in for the first five hundred years of the early church. Jesus said He'd draw (or drag) all men to Himself. And that His plan was to save all. Hell would get in the way of achieving this plan. Piper has been taught by Calvinism (another doctrine of man) that God chooses people for heaven and some for hell. This is only assumed and never mentioned in Scripture. This choosing is for the chosen to bring about God's plan into the world by awakening people to the truth: that they are saved. That Jesus took away their sin. That death no longer separates them from the Father. Putting hell in the gospel is not good news. That is not the message of Jesus nor of Paul. It's a tradition of man. "Raising Hell" by Julie Ferwerda is a great place to start if one has any questions regarding this topic. This post is not an attack on anyone. I bought into this doctrine for most of my life and all it did was make me fear and ruin my assurance of my salvation and confused me regarding the true character of God. I don't want others to have to go through that. God's love is eternal, His plan is final and He is out to restore mankind, not to destroy it. God bless.

Here's what a few early church fathers thought about varying degrees of punishment in the lake of fire ...
"For the wicked there are punishments not perpetual ... but they are to be tormented for a certain brief period, according to the amount of malice in their works. They shall therefore suffer punishment for a short space, but immortal blessedness, having no end, awaits them ... the penalties to be inflicted for their many and grave crimes are very far surpassed by the magnitude of the mercy to be showed them. The resurrection, therefore, is regarded as a blessing, not only to the good, but also to the evil." [Isa. 57:16], *Diodore,* _De Oecon_
"Some among the wise and learned … have alluded to this in an enigmatic way, by adducing that God is not only just, but also merciful, and that it becomes the One who judges with justice to have sinners suffer in a measure that is proportional to their sins and then make them worthy of blessedness." -- *Theodore,* _Liber Scholiorum, 2:63_
"Death shall come as a visitor to the impious; it will not be perpetual; it will not annihilate them; but will prolong its visit, till the impiety which is in them shall be consumed." [Matt. 5:26] -- *Jerome,* _On Micah 5:8_

He did. Jesus spoke more about hell than he did about heaven. He gave us clear warnings since he wants to save us all. Read Luke 16, 19-31. In verse 31, Jesus clearly says that we have everything we need to believe and trust in him so that we don't have to go to hell. And that it wouldn't help if people came back from there (which would be the same as showing it to us, which we, I think, wouldn't survive - it would probably drive us crazy). Fact is: many people have seen Jesus doing miracles but not many really believed in him. Humans can witness great miracles and still refuse to believe in God.
God doesn't force anyone. And we can trust him that he works in everyone and tries to win them. If they don't answer his call, they probably also wouldn't if they would see what's coming for them. It would just be a reason for them to hate him (more).
There is a preacher who asks atheists "if you'd know with certainty that God exists and the Bible is true, would you believe?" Shockingly, most of them say "no". Meaning: they don't WANT to, no matter the facts.
There are many people in this world who seek God, some even without knowing what they're looking for. And they will find him, this I'm absolutely certain of (Jeremiah 29: 13). As for the ones who don't want, nothing would help to change their mind. If there was something, God would do it as he doesn't want anyone to be in hell (1 Timothy 2:4). This verse, btw, also shows very clearly that Calvinism is a false doctrine (as many others do too).

*_"Is everyone punished the same in hell?"_*
Trick question, because there is no "hell" where people are tormented forever.
What happens to the unsaved? The apostle Paul wrote:
⚫ "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life though Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23)
There is nothing in that verse about eternal life in some sort of fiery "hell." Unless you receive the gift of eternal life you will perish in what is called the "second death," after resurrection for judgment. After that second death, there is no more hope of life or resurrection. You perish. You're destroyed. You don't exist any more. It's the end of you. Here's a few Bible verses about this:
⚫ "For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be" (Psalms 37:10).
⚫ "When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever" (Psalms 92:7).
⚫ "The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity" (Proverbs 10:29).
⚫ "As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation" (Proverbs 10:25).
⚫ "Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds; Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?" (Job 20:4-7).
⚫ "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch . . .
⚫ "And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts." (Malachi 4:1,3)
John 3:16 says the same: we either receive the gift of eternal life, or we perish:
⚫ "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
So where does the fiery eternal "hell" idea come from? King James' translators added it to the Bible by using their word "hell" 23 times in the New Testament . . . in place of three different Greek words. Each of those three words has a different meaning . . . and none of those three refers to a place of fiery, perpetual torment. The three Greek words are:
    ▬ άδης
(“hades” in English); appears as "hell" ten times
    and as "grave" once in the KJV New Testament;
refers to the place of the dead, the grave, similar to
the Hebrew word "she'ol" in the Old Testament
    ▬ γέεννα
(“geenna” or “gehenna” in English); Appears as "hell"
12 times in the KJV New Testament; refers to the valley
used as a dump outside Jerusalem in Jesus' time.
Constant fire and maggots there permanently destroyed
    whatever was thrown in.
    ▬ ταρταρωσας
    a verb, an inflection or variant of ταρταρόω;
(“tartaroo" in English); used only once: to describe
fallen angels being put into a figurative pit or prison,
    to be held in restraint.
You don't have to take my word for this. Look it up with online Bible study tools such as blueletterbible.org.
Translators (especially King James Version, 1611) made a real mess when they used the word "hell" in place of these three Greek words. They had inherited their hell concept, by tradition, from the Catholic church. By using "hell" they were twisting the meanings of the Greek words to conform to their concept of a place of perpetual, fiery torment.
Over time translators have recognized this error and footnoted their versions, noting the original Greek words, or even using the original Greek words - and not using the word "hell." Young's Literal Translation (YLT), for example, never uses the word "hell."
Here's an example of Jesus speaking of "hell fire":
⚫ "And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:" (Mark 9:47)
"Hell" in that verse is from that Greek word γεέννῃ or "gehenna," a reference to that dump outside Jerusalem. The trash and garbage was thrown there to be destroyed by the constant fire - "hell fire" - and worms - maggots - in the dump. Jesus likened the destruction of the wicked to being cast into the dump for permanent, final destruction. They would be figuratively thrown into the dump for destruction.
The "lake of fire" in Revelation pictures the same, final destruction:
⚫ "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)
Here's another verse where "hell" is from the Greek word γεέννῃ or "gehenna":
⚫ "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)
So, when Jesus said the soul can be destroyed in hell, what did He mean? First, "destroy" is from the Greek word ἀπόλλυμι ("apollymi") which means "to destroy fully" (from Strong's Defintions ). And "hell" in that verse is from the Greek word γέεννα ("geenna" or "gehenna") which was the dump outside Jerusalem, where fire and maggots destroyed all the trash and bodies that were thrown in. Jesus likened the fate of the unsaved to being "thrown into the dump," into "hell [gehenna] fire" for destruction.
In Matthew 25:46 Jesus describes the fate of the unsaved:
⚫ "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
When a criminal is executed, the punishment is not "everlasting" in the sense of being ongoing, perpetual punishing. No, the punishment is "everlasting" in the sense that it is permanent, complete and final and irrevocable. It will be the same for the unsaved; they will destroyed and that will be the end of them. Their punishment is finished and stands forever; it is not perpetual, ongoing punishing.
The words "permanent" and "final" never appear in the KJV; "everlasting" is often used instead. It's a mistake to assume "everlasting" means an ongoing, perpetual process. It can refer to a permanent, finished and irreversible condition.
The "lake of fire" in Revelation is like the gehenna "dump" fire. It pictures final, irrevocable destruction. Those persons who are "cast into the lake of fire" are destroyed. They are destroyed, through death; specifically the second death, after judgment. They have no further hope of life or resurrection. They will never "be" again:
⚫ "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)
Even death and the grave (hades) will be destroyed by being figuratively "cast in the lake of fire":
⚫ "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:14,15)
After the final judgment and the destruction of the wicked, death is effectively destroyed-because everyone left will have received eternal life. And the grave (hades) is destroyed, because no one will be left in the grave awaiting resurrection for judgment. Paul wrote:
⚫ "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." (1 Corinthians 15:26)
Death will be destroyed . . . after the wicked have been destroyed through death and the rest have received eternal life.

Trick question, why would God resurrect the lost, only to judge them and then annihilate them? If there was no chance for correction that leads to repentance and purification, why wouldn't God just leave the lost dead? The book of Hebrews says it is for man to die ONCE and then face judgment. The second death is the death of the carnal mind. When you look at the Greek, a better translation for the lake of fire is, God's divine lake of purifying fire. Do you really think that God, being all powerful, all loving and all knowing, knowing the beginning to the end, is going to allow himself to lose most of mankind to a spirit being that he created? Do you really think that Satan has the power and ability to put a time limit on God's work? The doctrine of eternal burning in hell, and the doctrine of annihilation is what is causing a falling away effect. Do you believe that Satan has the power and ability to persuade men to follow his ways without interfering with man's free will? Do you believe that God has the power and ability to persuade men to follow his ways without interfering with man's free will? If you answered yes to both questions and believe that most of mankind will remain lost forever, doesn't that make Satan more powerful and persuasive than God? The Bible says that Jesus is the second Adam but only greater and better. Yet mainstream Christianity teaches that most of mankind will remain lost forever. If the actions of Adam gave death to ALL mankind and the actions of Jesus only saves a few, how can Jesus be the greater Adam?According to mainstream Christianity, Adam is more powerful than Jesus. Is this the best plan that our all loving, all powerful, all knowing and intelligent creator could come up with? The doctrine of annihilation and eternal burning in hell weakens the work that Christ did on the cross. The doctrine of apokatastasis fulfills the work that Christ did on the cross... if any man confesses with his mouth that Jesus is lord, he shall be saved... for every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is lord... if ANY man's work be burned up, he shall suffer loss, yet he shall be saved as through fire...and when I am lifted up, I will draw (drag in Greek) all men unto myself...for this is God's will, that no man should perish but all men come into eternal life and that all men learn the Full knowledge of his salvation...thy will, will be done.

It matters a great deal if a lost soul enters the eternal, irrevocable state of darkness in suffering. The degree of punishment is moot because the one entering the Lake of Fire will have no means of comparing his/her suffering to what other impenitent souls are experiencing. The lost remain alone forever and their fiery torment is exacerbated by the mental anguish of knowing they are without hope because they preferred, in their rebellion against God, to believe in lies instead of the truth cf. That’s right, Jesus didn’t go to “hell” he went to a place where souls go after death. Jesus told the criminal who repented on a cros next to Jesus, that he will see him in paradise. Hell and paradise are separate, but in the same location (as Jesus describes in the story of the rich man and Lazarus). which is why the Bible puts in under the same umbrella “Sheol or hades”. And no, that story is not a parable like some Christians think. It’s very specific with names of people and visual description of Sheol.

Nothing about the lost having an everlasting resurrection body there!
How about John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
      26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Nothing about the lost having an everlasting resurrection body there either!
How about Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Again nothing about the lost having an everlasting resurrection body there.
But I do agree that no one is in Hell yet.

WDJD It's amazing to read verses inserted by contributors who don't even ponder the verses to see the obvious truth. Let's have a closer look, shall we? John 5:29 clearly states there is a resurrection of the righteous as well as the damned. What exactly is a resurrection and just what is resurrected? The bulk of Scripture shows conclusively that it is the human body (its mortal remains) wherever it may lie i.e. buried in a grave or the dust from the crematorium and the funeral pyre (wherever it winds up and is gathered, grain by grain by The Almighty) -- both of the saved and the lost. In Rev. 20:11 we read of the Great White Throne Judgment where the RESURRECTED dead who did not place their faith in Jesus Christ STAND before God. They STAND before Him on two feet (as part of their new body) prepared for eternity by the Lord. In Rev. 20:13 we read of the dead raised from the depths of the sea. What is being raised? Obviously, their mortal remains, however small or seemingly insignificant. Sinners who are cast into the lake of Fire as described in Mark 9:43, 45,47, will be those resurrected with new eternal bodies with two hands, two feet and two eyes. Hands, feet and eyes are components of a new body prepared by God to suffer in the flames of torment, a place prepared for the devil and his angels but also for all those human beings who were deceived by Satan as per Rev. 20:10,14. Also, the Lord Jesus (the Incarnate Word, the sole judge of the damned cf.John 5:22, Acts 10:42) goes to great length explaining the bodily suffering of the damned for all eternity. Matt. 8:12 ; 24:51 ; 25:30 speaks of the weeping, wailing (Matt. 13:42)and gnashing of TEETH. The damned weep through their EYES ; their TEETH are gnashed because they are equipped with a human body in that excruciating torture -- both of pain and of torment knowing there is no hope of escape. There are some who foolishly attempt to describe the aforementioned verses as being figurative rather than literal. But that is essentially a protest that cannot be corroborated by the mass of Scripture that declares the reality of eternal suffering of the resurrected, human body. Martin Luther (the greatest Reformation leader) gave us a formula to determine whether or not Scripture should be taken literally. He remarked, "When the LITERAL sense makes sense, seek no other sense." In summary, the Bible unambiguously reveals that the resurrected bodies of the righteous go to heaven; the unrighteous bodies to the Lake of Fire. You are just one of so many who miserably fail in their exegesis of what is biblically, so plain and simple that even a small child can understand. I can only conclude that you are a Russelite or some other annihilative cult stuck in the mud through its unwillingness to accept what God has so clearly conveyed about the final destinations of humanity.

absent from the body, present with the Lord. everyone whose passed so far is definitely either in heaven or hell. Their spirit is and they're waiting on their glorified bodies.

Actually you need to study the apostle Paul some more. Remember he was a very well educated Pharisee that had the Torah memorized. Also, you need to remember the culture of Yeshua's time. Most all the Jews were following the Law or at least making a very strong effort to do so. There were a lot of omissions made because Paul was teaching people that had been exposed to the Torah's teachings all their life so it was assumed that they understood certain cultural thoughts. Look at Ecclesiastes 9:5 in context
2All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath. 3This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that, they go to the dead. 4For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in anything that is done under the sun. 7Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. 8Let thy garments are always white, and let thy head lack no ointment.
Notice how Yeshua talked about death when discussing the death of Lazarus. John 11:11 Context
8His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again? 9Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. 10But if a man walks in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him. 11These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleeps, he shall do well. 13Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
Also, notice how Yeshua talks about raising his people on the last day that is the day of resurrection. It's listed two times in the book of John.
      John 6:40 Context
37All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing but should raise it up again at the last day. 40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 41The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
      John 6:44 Context
41The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man, therefore, that hath heard and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 46Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. 47Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
Basically, when we die we return to the dust where we came until either the first resurrection to life or the second resurrection to condemnation. No one can go to Heaven or Hell until they have been judged and the judgment hasn't happened yet.
