    I love how she keeps a smile on her face and a friendly voice when she is talking to her audience. She was so amazing.

    So beautiful. In face and spirit. Wow. what a voice. If todays little trollops had half the voice and presence of Ofra, imagine what we'd see. Miss you Ofra!

    Wow, if there was any audio or video of her singing YSZ live... that'd be amazing. There is one video on TH-cam in which she sings one verse live in a group singing of the song, but a whole thing would be... *melts*
    True about Ya Ba Ye comments, lol. I did notice the drummer almost falling, that was funny! :)

    @KNJGSY I read in the news of the Ofra Haza Yahoo Group that the Montreux DVD realiced not so long ago has an audio recording overlapping the original, and I think they should leave it with the original one

    Ofra - "A girl in her twenties" - d.o.b 19/11/57 !!
    Cheeky !!!
    She had a sense of humour.
    ~:-)
    Overdubbed - I think I should say 're-dubbed'.
    They did it for a reason!
    'Struggling' perhaps the wrong word.
    Whatever the case - Ofra delivered.

    Right, no one else on stage ever does this.

    I have an mp3 of it that I bought from iTunes. Those people singing along are called background vocalists. :P
    I totally agree about her reasons for lip-syncing. It's just a shame that she had to, seeing as how hearing an alternate version, a.k.a a live performance, would have been amazing.

    She was amazing!!!! The intensity and clarity of her voice!!!! This was the actual recording at Montreux, she sang live. I prefer the live videos over the dubbed versions. Thank you strikezone6498, for your uploads.
    I can actually hear the little faults here and there in her voice, especially at the beginning of Fata Morgana. It was not easy to sing live at such intensity, for 1 hour and a half.
    Too bad there is no video for Im Nin Alu, only the dubbed version, which is clearly out of sync with the actual singing.

    Ohhh her. Yeah, I was confused about that, too. lol
    Hey, did we ever finish that Yerushalayim Shel Zahav debate?

  • @rpvee
    @rpvee 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    lol or you could just ask him on Facebook. And again, there is no microphone on Ofra.
    And the version of Yerushalayim Shel Zahav I have has no crowd noise whatsoever.

    The only CD version that I know of is the live recording of the same show. (G. Hits CD3)
    You can hear the audience on that too.
    It was a big national celebration with orchestra, big stage, many performances, etc. there is much that you cannot see on the clips of Ofra.
    I do not have a clue how her performance was set up technically. You would have to ask the techies who were there.
    Perhaps yours is a question that we should have put forward to Bezalel Aloni for the next issue of thefanzine!

    Btw, one last thing: Ofra does miss several syllables with her mouth in the YSZ performance while they play over her. :P

    @Mondestrunken I posted my 'analysis' in the group after I bought the DVD. Video clips of the original undubbed songs are on TH-cam - uploaded in 2006. Jorgandrew, Ofrafan, and Gil1111 uploaders amongst them. I believe that the original footage was broadcast on TV in Israel a long time ago.
    If they had to redub Ofra's voice, I wish that they had at least tried to do quality job - up to Ofra's own standards.
    The 16 minute Galbi medley is where her voice is way out of sync with the vision..

  • @KNJGSY
    @KNJGSY 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    We still don't know for sure that she did.
    Somewhere on the net there is an account of her singing it live on stage in the US - when the theatre group visited.
    Anyhow shouldn't we cease cluttering up this comment area and leaving it to Ya Be Ye comments ?
    BTW do you notice Jim Musson nearly falling off his seat when she asks the audience "did you eat today ?"

  • @rpvee
    @rpvee 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Of course the CD is overdubbed. But I don't think she was struggling with her voice at all in the raw videos, she sounds fantastic. I agree about the little mistakes in English, they're sweet.
    And how old was I in 1990 or Ofra? lol, I was -2 (yes, -2). lol.

    WHY on EARTH would they cut that wonderful speech at the beginning from the CD?!?! That's so annoying!

  • @KNJGSY

    What CD is your version on ?
    If it is the same as mine - there are voices singing along in the background.
    Perhaps there was a man perched in a tree nearby with a parabolic microphone pointing at her.
    if she is lip-synching, it is to her own voice, that takes nothing away from the power and beauty of the song. Given what we know now of the probable state of her health, miming to a mastertape would have been 'insurance'.
    TV and many 'live' acts do it all the time.

  • @KNJGSY
    @KNJGSY 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    After first seeing these original clips of Montreux, I realised that Ofra's singing voice was overdubbed on the CD. She was obviously struggling with her voice - perhaps a cold or throat bug - her track on the CD is studio quality,
    Worse , when the Montreux DVD was released - that had been overdubbed too - with many bad out-of-sync moments.
    {...just for you rpvee!}
    I love Ofra's use of the English language. The minor grammatical whoopsies are charming.
    [But Ofra ! In 1990 how old were you ?]

  • @rpvee
    @rpvee 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    :-P
    It WAS lip-synced. No microphone, no band anywhere, and even if her voice could fill an auditorium, it could certainly not be picked up by television camera's own small microphones without crowd noise and echo. And it's note-for-note just like the CD version.
