Thanks Earl. What really struck with me was what he said towards the end, " We are forced to live exceptional lives. The normal man can go to normalcy. He can experience resentment, fear, hang on to stuff. It won't kill him. It will cause him to have a lesser life. Less freedom, less magic, less reward but he can survive it so he'll do it, because it's not gonna kill him. We cant afford it. We have to rise to a higher state of conscious or this illness, this disease will kill us. So we have to embrace a spiritual path. We have to get out of self and be of service to others, and as a result attach to family, attach to friends develop a sense of community. We have to participate at a higher level. Because if we don't our alcoholism it's nipping at our heels will jump up catch us and drag us back into the mud."

yup, were forced to grow in all of those areas, or we will die, we dont have the choice to be lazy and complacent

Absolutely agree we all suffer from the pains of spiritual malady but as alcoholics we cant live from that place of self without drinking, we have to be hard on ourselves but always considerate of others we must! Be rid of this selfishness we must! God makes that possible❤

Earl hightower helped save my life. I first heard his story when I was only 12 years old. My first rehab a little coke head burnout. I had to learn the hard way but I never forgot sitting around a fire and listening to earls story laughing crying bonding. We still quote Earl to this day. Biggest baddest buzz around. That's what I'm after. Thanks earl

One of the greatest. Most sincere. Non tough guy in the world. I hated feeling like that. I hung around ppl like that. I was not like them. And I needed to "feel" like them. It was so scary. And alcohol made me think I could be like that. I'm happy to say that I don't react like that anymore. I'm still a frightened person. But I refused to be controlled by it. By the grace of the Almighty

"It's a fine line to be an honorable man. . . The idea is to be moving in the direction of these ideas. . . Am I always honest? No. . . It happens." Thank goodness progress not perfection takes alot of pressure off. And I appreciate all this speakers wisdom and carrying the message so so much. The perception is something much needed today. I am eternally teachable and I am so appreciative to have heard this.

I was blessed tonight to go and see Earl H. Speak, afterwards I was able to talk to him for a minute. For years I've had a CD of his that I listened to over and over. What an incredible story, he's funny, sincere, brutally honest and has touched many by sharing. What a gift!

As a student of substance drug abuse counseling, I can say these videos are very valuable. I'd been told that there is a huge need of bilingual counselors and that's why I'm studying it. I would like to listen to some well recognize speakers in Spanish too, as the language and cultural barriers play against Spanish speaking drug abusers.
