And the original script had him using the jets and a boat that was sinking after being hit with a round from that gun she used then tossed away earlier to jump over the bridge. But during rehearsal the guy who built the Q Boat accidentally pulled both levers and the boat had so much stopping power that it forced the nose into the water. And since the boat still had its momentum. The boat dove completely underwater as it kicked up a lot of water in front. Everyone on shore and in chase boats thought that he had crashed and destroyed the boat around him. Instead the boat shot up out of the water a few yards from where it went in.

I'm not a huge fan of the Brosnan era but Oh my goodness!...that blast of the Bond theme at 4:36 as the jet boat flies out of the restaurant into the Thames with the O2 front and centre!.....EPIC!!I
I still put goldeneye *slightly* ahead, since the ending is Goldeneye is stronger (the submarine ending in TWINE is only ok), but there’s not much between them. Regardless, this was easily Brosnans best performance.
if i recall correctly, seeing this on video as a kid was what made me love Bond, i'm not really fond of bond anymore but this scene will always be in my heart
I was more outraged at how they go down an inlet in Bermondsey (that leads to a dead end) and then somehow magically come out in Wapping/Shadwell! Absolute liberty tbh
Not for a long time. It's very illegal to pump sewerage into rivers in the UK - has been for decades - at least 20-30 years before this was shot. Atmospheric wash out and highway run off is about the worst of it and there are seals and many species of fish living in it today.
@@Rapscallion2009 I was speaking semi-metaphorically. But also, the filtration practices of Thames Water have repeatedly been under scrutiny for gross inefficiency, and swimming even miles up-stream from the location of the scene has shown to cause gastro-intestinal symptoms. The seals mostly stick to the estuary or stay west of Putney.
I loved Tomorrow Never Dies too bc it was the very first Bond film I was old enough to see in theaters with my dad. After I went back and watched all the old ones. But I was so excited for World is Not Enough as well and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s one of my favorites. This scene plus the score are great. I owned the ost on cd. The theme by garbage I loved too. All the bond films Pierce starred in minus Die Another Day had good songs. Goldeneye by Tina Turner, Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow and this one by Garbage are phenomenal.
I'm biased. Pierce was my bond when I was a kid and was the first Bond I ever saw in theaters. But I'm just sayin... this is one of the most quintessential Bond moments ever: Stealing Q's boat (much to his dismay), jettisoning out of the MI6 building in London, landing on the River Thames to chase the assassin that just bombed his headquarters where M and Moneypenny could've been hurt or killed -- all while the Bond theme is just blasting. I mean... c'mon. 🔥💯
I used to live in London near Docklands when I saw this at the cinema. the splashing of the traffic warden got the biggest cheer I ever heard in a cinema.
He has cigars in Die Another Day like Roger Moore did in his films. Daniel Craig is the only one who doesn’t smoke as Bond but Craig gave up cigarettes to get in shape for Casino Royale.
I wouldn't try to analyze Bond films too hard. You're talking about a boat, without wheels, driving on land. Some mouth breather must've told the audio engineers to add the sound effects in to "make it sound cooler" or something. I'll take nonsense drifty noises over the slide flute in TMWTGG any day lol.
Brosnan was best bond ever. His 4 Bond movie will never forget Bonds fans. His all movie was Best action. Best Cinematography, No Vfx was use. Today's all majority Movies use VFX. But that time all action Sequence was real.
I love that there is a real boat driving through a real restaurant, James Bond fixes his tie while boating underwater, and James Bond splashes the guys ticketing the car. Superior Bond movie making. Its so good that it makes you over look how unrealistic is is for the Q Boat to go through the streets and drive through a restaurant. Think about that, not 1 but 2 boats through restaurants.
I love it when Bond is under water and takes a moment to straighten his tie, pure nectar!
😀😀😀😀😀
And the original script had him using the jets and a boat that was sinking after being hit with a round from that gun she used then tossed away earlier to jump over the bridge. But during rehearsal the guy who built the Q Boat accidentally pulled both levers and the boat had so much stopping power that it forced the nose into the water. The parking garage car chase in Tomorrow Never Dies was the best car chase scene in the series too.
Motorcycle chase is actually in Hanoi, Vietnam; riding all the way from Caver's building there to crashing a copter.
They were supposed to be in Vietnam for the bike chase but they filmed it in Bangkok not Vietnam.
That bike scene was shot on location in Bangkok, Thailand dressed as Saigon HCMC in the story.

Even the car chase in Living Daylights Navigator and Tyre slashers in Goldfinger Scene are still way ahead from its time.
Practical effects!
It's ironic how the Criag films are so primitive compared to everything before, even Dr.No and Goldfinger.

I have never been a big fan of this Bond film, but this scene is awesome as hell

I'm not a huge fan of the Brosnan era but Oh my goodness!...that blast of the Bond theme at 4:36 as the jet boat flies out of the restaurant into the Thames with the O2 front and centre!.....EPIC!!I
Totally agree its as if they turn up the volume just for that specific part...its perfect!
I always like the cake/fruit pile spinning round as it happens.
4:28
The guy is about to take a bite.
Then WHAM!
3:38 Bond's watching EastEnders 😂😂
One of the Best renditions of bond theme by the great David Arnold
I love the background music! Brosnan really played well in this movie! ❤
Best bond opening scene with great Pierce Brosnan
Daniel Craig is better than him.
No
Lol no way goldeneye was better
@@osamabinladen824 lol hell no hes not. Bond is not blonde
That one where he caught up to the plane in North Korea was better
Man this score never gets old....
3:49 Best shot of the entire franchise
I think the wheel clamper with the beard was a star of a reality tv series at the time.

That shot at 4:36 has to be one of the best in the whole franchise! So powerful.
And of course the score kicks in perfect
Why? Because of that silly dome in the background?
@@nonyafkinbznes1420 10 year deathstar knock off without the fun or public approval.
Amazing shot and the best part of that scene ❤
@@IRMentat "10 year deathstar knock off without the fun or public approval."
ROTFLMAO!
Best 007 opening scene ever.
One of most beautiful opening of all time for action and wonderful David Arnold’s soundtrack
Unpopular opinion: this was the best of the Brosnan series, even Goldeneye.
I still put goldeneye *slightly* ahead, since the ending is Goldeneye is stronger (the submarine ending in TWINE is only ok), but there’s not much between them. Regardless, this was easily Brosnans best performance.
I think it easily could’ve been but the plot was a little too convoluted for me
@@goku8621 I respect that opinion
The moment the boat flew out of MI6 headquarters with the Bond theme playing was the coolest. Bring back the fun filled Bond movie please
@JJ Willywinkle your not supposed to notice that 😂
@JJ Willywinkle 🤣🤣
Each Bond brings something different. Brosnan was perfect for the role, a little bit Moore and a pinch of Connery.
And a tiny hint of Dalton
@@benhislop1458 & arguably some similar traits to craig before craig played bond.
The soundtrack is absolutely spot on!
1:21 That Q boat sure has some squealy tires
All you have to do is yank the hand brake!

If memory serves, 2 of the great Bond actors are no longer with us. But their fantastic work will live on.
Rip Sir Sean Connery
Rip Roger moore.
In my opinion he's the best bond ever, up till now. I don't even know what people are talking about.
Agree, he was picture perfect.
I think this film is very underrated
Best pre title sequence ever for a bond movie and one of the best action scenes in a bond movie
Exactly ! :D
if i recall correctly, seeing this on video as a kid was what made me love Bond, i'm not really fond of bond anymore but this scene will always be in my heart
Brosnan Bond films are much are a lot funner to watch than today's Bond films.
Best bond of all the Bonds for these movies. Pierce is great he fits the bond character perfectly
You'll be missed ae Bond Pierce desmond llewelyn RIP was a great Q the good old days.
Anyone who’s been to London knows how disgusting this scene is. Basically Bond repeatedly dunked in sewage water...
I have no problem with that.
So, essentially, he was just going through the motions...
If there’s anything better than Bond adjusting his tie while he’s underwater, then I don’t know what it is.
Him laughing like a little child after he reinflates his car tires in Tomorrow Never Dies was up there.
I love how Q is yelling “It Isn’t Finished” but Bond doesn’t care he just takes it😂😂
Coolest part of this scene, one might just miss it: 3.11....Bond adjusts his tie as the boat goes underwater...DAMN!! 🤩🤩
That scene when he adjusts his tie under the water ... OMG hilarious @3:08
You can see that at 4:54 Bond fires the torpedoe, and seconds later, fires the same torpedoe again, although that, an awesome movie!
Waaaay better than the climax of SPECTRE. TWINE is one of the most underrated Bond films and I personally really enjoyed it.
😮9
Now that's a great movie for James Bond 007.
The Brosnan Bonds always had great chase scenes, arguably the best of the series.
Turns Q boat into submarine, checks his tie 🤣 classic PB bond 👏🏻👏🏻
Hello pretty lady, how are you doing
This is the my first movie which I seen in theatre as a Kid and Blown away ❤️
THE WORLDS NOT ENOUGH BEST BOND FILM❤❤❤
🤘🤘
@@JET-ju3td 🎸🎸🎸
I'm biased. Pierce was my bond when I was a kid and was the first Bond I ever saw in theaters.
But I'm just sayin... this is one of the most quintessential Bond moments ever:
Stealing Q's boat (much to his dismay), jettisoning out of the MI6 building in London, landing on the River Thames to chase the assassin that just bombed his headquarters where M and Moneypenny could've been hurt or killed -- all while the Bond theme is just blasting.
I mean... c'mon. 🔥💯
*0:05** I remember laughing at that scene with Q when I was a kid hahah.*

I used to live in London near Docklands when I saw this at the cinema.

That tie adjustment under water is the best.
All the Bond movies are great in their own way-this is the best opening sequence in a Bond movie ever.
Pierce Brosnan Irish man is the only bond did without puffing smoke in all films!great charming action hero! advanced quick hero! Long live !
Smoked a cigar in Die Another Day
He has cigars in Die Another Day like Roger Moore did in his films. Daniel Craig is the only one who doesn’t smoke as Bond but Craig gave up cigarettes to get in shape for Casino Royale.
I dont know if its only me but Why does it sound like a car is drifting when ever he takes a hard turn with the boat 😂😂😂
I noticed that too
I wouldn't try to analyze Bond films too hard. You're talking about a boat, without wheels, driving on land.
Some mouth breather must've told the audio engineers to add the sound effects in to "make it sound cooler" or something.
I'll take nonsense drifty noises over the slide flute in TMWTGG any day lol.

Pierce Brosnan, the most gorgeous, handsome, elegant Bond ever, he is my favourite, just breathtaking, he wears the role like a glove🍾🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸👍💙
Pierce Brosnan is the perfect Bond❤
This is a good video to learn more about the laws of physics! specially the one where the boat was cruising on the street with no wheels
3:10 that tie adjusting style 😍😍😍
Brosnan had the best pre cedits sequence of any bond.
The real question here is why Q’s fishing boat has torpedoes, afterburners and underwater capabilities...
Because is a 00 gadget
Torpedoes + exploding water = raining fish
Because he can
Never been fishing before, huh?
Its a dangerous world out there with lots of crazies.
Fixing his tie completely submerged under water is so ridiculous and so Bond, I love it .
Brosnan always straightens his tie after a destruction
The Brosnan films were picture perfect and FUN. Not everything needs to be dark & gritty.
The recovery at 0:38 is epic.
I wonder if that was planned. Looked like it was almost a disaster!
amazing how Q went from this:👴🏻
to this:🧑🏻🦱
Brosnan was best bond ever. His 4 Bond movie will never forget Bonds fans. His all movie was Best action. Best Cinematography, No Vfx was use. Today's all majority Movies use VFX. But that time all action Sequence was real.
2:20 always love that moment when the antagonist thinks "OH YEAH. I also have THIS thing"
"... why didn't I think of that earlier"
Love the improvised tie adjustment
I love that there is a real boat driving through a real restaurant, James Bond fixes his tie while boating underwater, and James Bond splashes the guys ticketing the car. Superior Bond movie making. Its so good that it makes you over look how unrealistic is is for the Q Boat to go through the streets and drive through a restaurant. Think about that, not 1 but 2 boats through restaurants.
That crane at 1:08 🤣

I’m sure they were shooting something else. Happened to be there when a spy was chasing down an enemy.
Those two security guards or policemen(not sure which) getting soaked while putting on that wheel lock made me laugh out loud! 🤣🤣🤣
I like the bit where .the traffic Warden is putting a clamp on the car and gets soaked 😂😂😂
