I've always thought that the BBC's annual 'sports personality of the year' a complete farce. Being able to find any sports person with a personality of any kind is in itself an almost impossible task, and then to create an award scheme based on such an elusive being is extremely puzzling.

@@Cotictimmy Weirdly, I watched Question Time religiously throughout my 30s (inexplicably I was a bit of a news junkie) - so from about 2000 to 2010 - before I realised that I was pointlessly getting cross and shouting at the telly for an hour every Thursday evening (actually, it was my then girlfriend who pointed this behaviour out to me). I quit. Haven't missed it. The programme, I mean. Although to be honest I haven't missed the girlfriend either.
I hardly watch TV at all, but I have one, and occasionally I put it on just to confirm that it's all as shit as I remembered it was. It absolutely stuns me, the puke the BBC vomits out. The One Show; Strictly Come Dancing, Question Time, mind-numbing shows about making cakes and evaluating antiques and gardening and property developments. And they expect people like us who don't watch this crap to pay the license fee? Auntie Beeb: you can fucking sing for it.
