Can they design a wind-turbine blade that is more efficient? No. Can they build cheaper solar panels? No. Can they design and build cheaper nuclear power stations? No. Lower-loss grid systems, better gas tubines, lighter batteries, lower-drag airframes? No, no and no. They can talk the talk, but walking the walk is difficult when you have no legs:(

John Peel once said that saying you were a DJ in the 1970s was like admitting to being a child molester, which does indicate that he had a sense of shame over what he'd done back then. That however was the way things were in those days; some young women and even girls would throw themselves at famous people (and, as in John's case) people once removed from famous people. A few of those 'groupies' briefly became almost as well known as some of the guys they notched up on their bedposts.
None of the above means such behaviour was ok of course, but trying to equate what Peel (and hundreds if not thousands) of well known men in that period did with the serial predation upon vulnerable young people by the likes of Saville is absurd.

when I was 18 I hitchhiked to a festival in Lincoln. No corporate bullshit back then. The unofficial security was provide by a group of Hell's Angels who were camped next to our tent. This was three years after the rolling stones concert in America where Hells Angels stabbed a guy to death in front of the stage. To say the atmosphere was a bit edgy would be an understatement.

Now they hire volunteer stewards through Oxfam, paid security stewards from Glasgow and the licensed security team along with the police. People from different organisations so they can police each other as they work with each other. The Oxfam stewards are the eyes and ears and smiley faces of the paid security stewards and the security stewards protect them at the same time because they can do more physically like chase gatecrashers and hold them down. At the Reading Festival Oxfam stewards have to be their interpreters as well as the ticket holders can't understand the security guys' Glaswegian accents.

The Hells Angels did the security when I went to Glastonbury back in the mid eighties, didn't have a ticket so I'd just give them a few quid to let me in.
No preaching back then, just a load of council estate kids like me getting off our tits on drugs and listening to great music.

Assuming you mean Lincoln England, rather than Nebraska, I also hitched and spent my 18th birthday there. I don't remember it being edgy though, just cold and washed out.
But Rory Gallagher, Genesis, Roxy Music, Beach Boys, Sha Na Na, Monty Python, Slade, Quo - it was a great event.
And on the second morning a young woman emerged from a tent to show everyone her tits too, so overall a great time.

And it was the best one I ever went to! Steve Hillage, The Slits, SAHB, The Pop Group, Mother Gong, Tim Blake’s Crystal Machine, John Martyn and The Only Ones!
