Thanks. It turned out perfectly. When it was done cooking I added some fresh chopped rosemary, sea salt, ground pepper, a little butter and some finely grated parmesan.
you prolly dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my gf recently xD
I must try cooking some soon. Would you put it in vegetable soup as you would barley? I enjoy lentils and barley in my veg soup so maybe something new to try.
We eat it very much like you'd do with cooked rice. It's also very good in a veggie salad. Here's a link to a salad I like to make using farro. th-cam.com/video/3E-n9Am2hCs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MpwcD0IHwQiYi7-5
And you can use this like a rice alternative with fish or meat? Is it possible to turn it into a porridge for a savoury dish? Is the cooking time longer and is it better to use a lid in that case if it's savoury? Is the cooking time longer?
You can substitute it for rice. I've never tried a porridge, but i dont know why not. It does take longer to cook than rice. I'd say follow my recipe to get an idea of best cooked time
Thank a Jill for all of your great videos. I'd be interested in knowing how people use it. I tried it a couple of years ago. I liked it. However, it must have an awful lot of fiber. I ate it as a side dish and made four hurried trips to the bathroom during the night. I do like these kinds of foods, but shy away from trying it again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
When you added the farro to the boiling water, you said it was 3/4 C. When you showed the comparison, you said you started with 1/4 C and it cooked to 3/4 C.
You know its a good source when a grandma is cooking. Props to all the g-mas out there!
I'm not a grandmother -- I never had children, but I accept the compliment!
I received farro at the food bank today. Looking forward to trying it. I’m 71 and have never heard of farro, can’t wait to try it.
I'm so glad I have the cooking instructions for you. Thanks for watching

Sounds delish!!
My family of picky eaters had seconds and gobbled it all up.
This was so helpful. Thank you! ❤
Oooh yummy! I just got some!! ❤
Thank you Jill! Very underrated video.
Oh, I love farro!!!

Yes, adding it to soup would be a great way to use it. It's similar to barley. Hope you enjoy
Thanks 😊
You're welcome!
Thanks for the tips. Love your nails by the way. :)
Ok I know how to cook it but what do you do with it ? Just eat it ?

Thank u
oh thanks Jill ... but do they have to put in that much water or just 1 inch above ?
I suppose you could use less water. Just make sure it has enough room for the farro moving freely

It is a high fiber grain that's for sure.
😄😄, I believe you, it did the same to me.
is this whole farro (vs. pearled)? Thanks
This was whole farro -- with the bran and outer layer
was this whole grain farro? pearled or semi-pearled?
Oh my....I don't know if farro comes in those many "varieties ." It looks dark and earthy like whole grain wheat berries
Does farro need to be soaked ?
I've never soaked it and it always cooks up beautifully.
When you added the farro to the boiling water, you said it was 3/4 C. When you showed the comparison, you said you started with 1/4 C and it cooked to 3/4 C.
I think you're right, I'll make sure to clarify that in the next video! Thanks for catching that.
i grow emmer on my organic farm
How cool!!
These are the same type of people that grain rice too 😂
You have such a young looking face. I wish I looked that well. Thanks for sharing. Love you guys.
You are too kind! Trust me, we don't go to heroic measures with wrinkle creams, etc.
Little known fact, farro is actually not originally Italian. It is an ancient Egyptian grain imported from Egypt to Rome to feed the masses
You are absolutely right! Thanks for the correction.
Thank you
You're welcome
Thank you.
You're welcome! I hope you enjoy trying it
@@Jill4Today First time making it and wasn’t sure if it was more like making rice. When you said it’s like making pasta, it all made sense.
