Looks to me as one of those jobs you want to keep putting off, but deep down you know it has to be done! I have worked on farms a lot in the past and enjoyed every minute of it. I am a precision grinder by trade and that is the type of work I am doing at the moment. Really enjoy your videos, they are well produced and very interesting , keep it up
thanks very much Adrian. Your right its a job that's needed doing for a while
Looking forward to seeing it in action now, plenty of revs, nice and slow. Thanks for posting it.
I'm afraid you will have to wait till next year now as I have put it away for the season. There is a video of it in action on my channel though. Your right about the speed, slower is best
i love your videos keep up with the good work they are the best
Thanks john, plenty more to come
Keep on going with the videos
Good work! :)
Richard, Good job of an onerous task. Good thing this is only one that gets done every 10 years or so.
Regards.
Charlie
Thanks Charlie
Mine are all seized I used gas as well it will help u remove nut if corners on it but the bold is seized in the bushings usually damage threads beating them even with nut on. I had to buy a load of new ones. It had 15 mil bolts I put back in 14mil bought off dealer.
Nice
good work is right
grind a cutting edge on them again and that's you got a few spares
You should put some grease on the threads and shaft of the bolt so that they are 10 times easyer to remover next year
Yes wish I'd thought of doing that. These won't be undone again for another 10 year's
HI, when you remove it, cut the nut on top and beat it down with a mandrel, it's faster.
Thanks, hopefully I won't have to do this again for a long time
You should use a bigger T flale instead of the small boot ones less parts included and better cut of of them
I think I would have sharpened the old ones up, if possible, I recon them new ones weren't cheap? stuck them in the vice and set about them with the grinding wheel on the angle grinder.
i think that would have been possible
In future try grinding the nut of instead as its only one cut and its easier to get to
I tried that George but the bolts were so seized on that this was the only way to get them off
grinder is the way to go you can get very thin disks of ebay the cut quicker and they are only £10 for 20
thanks for the tip about the disks, i'm paying £1.50 each for them at the local merchant
smith & arrow are the cutting disks that me and my daughter use they are very good i got 50 in one order then keep them in the house because a damp disk wont last 2 mins and my daughter is doing engineering so she gets though one or two keep up the good work
What type of steel the heads made from ?
not sure. hardened i guess
What model is the bomford hedge cutter?
i'm not sure
So how much did it set you back for 36 flails + bushes?
I can't remember exactly but I think it was the best part of £400 including buying the new nuts and bolts as well
