Why Stacy Lattisaw Left The Music Industry

  • #StacyLattisaw was a charming teenager and a child star with the voice of a singer far beyond her years, She was signed to a major label at the age of 12 and enjoyed a top 10 hit a year later. By the time she was thirteen, Stacy was a chart-topping R & B sensation. She seemed to be living a dream, opening for and befriending Michael Jackson, and sharing songs with another teenage talent, Johnny Gill. The strong, yet sweet voice made a big impression on the 1980s music scene with a string of hits that included, “Let Me Be Your Angel,” “Love on a Two-Way Street,” and “Miracles.” But after a decade-long career, Stacy turned her back on the music business and walked away.

    • @tyn833
      @tyn833 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It had nothing to do with integrity, Her and Janet Jackson are the same age and Mariah is 4 years younger, you've never seen them women come out half dressed I think that's because that's how they were raised but what I believe is that when time goes on and you stop getting them hits you become less relevant and the record labels won't spend money on you and they will drop you fast, I followed her since 1980 I bought her first album that had let me be your angel on it and in time she just started to fade away and there's no shame in it there's a lot of people wish they had that time.

      @@tyn833 Of course, both Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey were occasionally "half dressed". I remember being a little surprised to see that, because those girls didn't have to sell themselves like that.

    I learned from a very credible inside source that the industry Giants wanted to really water her down and pass her off as Caucasian because they felt that she would sell more records to a cross over audience but Stacy made it very clear that she's a proud black woman and she's not going to play that game. That's why we all should hold her up because she truly stood up to power. We love you Stacy!

      She is mixed race and I believe that source may have told the truth, they did that with Mariah Carey who is also mixed race, she used to sing in Arsenio Hall and such shows at the beginning of her career but Tommy Mottola decided to expand the scope, her background was kept out of interviews and things like that and they would only leave the emotional and fun parts, Mariah would talk about her mother who is white but rarely any mention of her dad, and like that she hit a wider market. Who knows how many more artists had to go through all that, it's a good thing there is no need for that anymore if all they care is sell music.

      You have to be on crack to think she would have been at Whitney Houston's level. No and KNOW she would NOT have. And that's a fucking FACT. Stacy Lattisaw was overweight, cute and charming, but she didn't have the WORLDWIDE APPEAL at ANY point in her career. Whitney Houston's DEBUT album was the BIGGEST SELLING DEBUT ARTIST of ANY act FEMALE, MALE, CARTOON CHARACTER, or GROUP IN history. So what you're saying just is CATEGORICALLY and easily provably incorrect.

    • @spreadmorelove5235
      @spreadmorelove5235 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SnoopCatts I disagree! It's all about the material. and image They could have easily forced her to get surgery a nose job and put her on a diet and put a bunch of wigs and weaves in her hair, like they did both Whitney and Mariah! A good glam squad would have taken her to another level! Also, I saw an interview where she said that they would giver her reject songs. Songs that she loved, she sang the crap out of it. Listen to Miracles, which she loved and remember that's a 16 year old singing like that! Don't tell us that she couldn't rival Whitney singing that song as a 16 year old, let alone an older seasoned voice with the right songs.

So she dropped me off and a few minutes later she text me this video here. I was sad to learn that Stacy had to go through those things. I had no idea. But at the same time I felt grateful that we had the opportunity to hear her beautiful voice. I text my daughter back and told her" wow no wonder we love her" she is a child of God., I'm so proud of her for staying true to the Lord and herself. God bless her and her family.
